So good! Resurrection weekend spent reading Mathew, Mark,Luke and John… yet the overall message came from Hebrews 12: 1-3. 😊

Thanks for the message. I got some good things out of it.
One thing you do need to think about though is what it says in Romans 5. It says that God demonstrated his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us, not God died for us. John 3:16 through 18 and Romans 8:31 through 32 clearly tell us that God who is the father loved us so much that he gave his only begotten son and sent Him into the world to be our Saviour. That's the gospel. Also look at 1 John 4:9-10.

One correction FWIW - at about 16:44 it's mentioned that there is no definite article, however there IS a definite article "και την ευπεριστατον αμαρτιαν" (and the easily besetting/encompassing/surrounding sin).

Discipline does not inherently mean corporal punishment.

Right! I really love studying the bible with him but I disagreed so much when he started comparing God disciplining us with parents who spank their children. That is not okay. Violence is not recommended by God as something humans should do between each other

It does say "The sin" in the KJV.
