    I used my pull pal multiple times last winter in North Dakota, South Dakota in straight up snow. Works well, sometimes it was hard go get a bite but i got out. Used in grasslands when you have nothing to tie off to. I do not go offroad without it. A must have when wheeling solo

    Hey Matt !! Made comment on 1 of your other videos about using a ""LAND ANCHOR"" when a ""HOLME"S "" tree wasn't there & this video answers that Question very well !! 👍👍👍👍👍

    6:46 for that scenario, would you have to run a snatch block/ring off the pull pal back to the stuck vehicle (just like 11:25)? It should work both ways, I think... Either way, I think I'm adding a whiteboard to my Jeep to draw out scenarios to folks to explain the recovery :]

    I have a really big old boat anchor I use as a land anchor

    • @matt.mckinzie
      @matt.mckinzie  Год назад +1

      basically the same thing, except the land anchors fold up for storage why boat anchors are drawn tight against bow rollers where its stored so space isn't an issue

  • @timjchick

    Never thought of using one of those as an anchor with a snatch block. Great idea.

      It has many uses, although it’s marketed and sold as a self recovery item
      We use it for many other purposes

    Good easy recovery Matt.
    If l were you, you might want to consider the purchase of a Tirfor style hand operated winch, which can be effectively used in conjunction with your Pull Pal ground anchor, in situations where you have “no vehicle access, whatsoever, even for a quad bike”. 😊👍👍🦘🇦🇺🦘

    That’s all it was ever meant for. So you could winch at the beach. Better off burying a tire.

    • @CortJohnson

      Right - spend an hour with a shovel burying the tire….good idea!

    I’ve always wanted one. The first time I saw one was on a history channel show call Alaskan off-road warriors. Even though I live in Tennessee I’ve been stuck in fields with no trees close by.

      We originally purchased it for beach jobs where there isn’t anything to anchor to
      And then adapted it to other uses

    I have had issues where it just dragged and dragged then reset back and it still pulled up not biting into the ground. It depends on the ground it’s in on whether it works or not.

      ive had that happen a few times as well its not a perfect unit, I do feel if they changed the angle of the spade slightly it would work better. Ive talked to the owner and its a one man company and he does all the building of these himself.

    Matt, I have a 800 twin sportsman (Polaris) that I use mostly to plow snow. I added a cutting edge to the plow from a 140G Cat motor grader so the plow weighs 150lbs, my winch is used to raise and lower the blade. My question is, (1) Do you think a synthetic rope would hold up better then the wire? (2) Do you think the Badlands (cheaper) winch will out last the Polaris over priced piece of s$&t?

    • @matt.mckinzie
      @matt.mckinzie  Год назад +1

      Steel holds up better
      Synthetic is easier to use
      For off road purposes there is. No way I can carry 1000 feet of steel cable
      Each have their pros and cons
      But steel will last longer and take more abuse

    • @matt.mckinzie
      @matt.mckinzie  Год назад +1

      I only like the apex versions of badlands
      They will work fine for a very long time

    • @cliffmorain7215
      @cliffmorain7215 Год назад +1

      @@matt.mckinzie Okay that was my thoughts about the wire vs synthetic, thanks . I only use a few feet at a time up and down so when it breaks i just cut it and re-loop it.

    • @cliffmorain7215
      @cliffmorain7215 Год назад +1

      @@matt.mckinzie I'm not sure the apex is made in the 3500lb winch, I'll have to research that a little further, thanks. Speaking of snow we're being pounded by snow right now at my house.

    Why don't you just attach a couple of legs w/ blades to dig into ground to the front bumper operated by hydraulics so that they can act as anchor points to keep you vehicle from sliding instead of using sand anchors
