Fantastic that the manufacturers / privateer teams allowed you access to the garage area. And great that they keep these beasts alive and running for people to enjoy.
The Lotus would be my choice from the Hammond collection. P.S Great to meet Mike during the Auction. Pure luck that I was standing right behind Hammond during the entire sale!
I'd go for the "Motogoosy". Hammond seems pretty cool. I think of he, May and Clarkson as the three stooges for smart people. Self deprecating humour at it's finest. Cheers from Canada.
911 for me all day long….had a 7 year old 911 C4S a few years back and loved the car. Slumming it sort of these days, with an under the radar Audi S4, but would love another 911 in the future
Im absolutely in the same boat with the endurance cars. Sure the F1 and 60's stuff is neat, but there is just something so raw and incredible about LMP machinery. Also, that absolute classic vitaphone Saleen S7 at 9:22, just briliiant.
That Saleen is absolutely gorgeous, it's the only american sports car that simultaneously manages to look both like a proper american muscle car and european stylish supercar somehow.
I work occasionally for another automotive media organization. We have our own vintage cars we race at vintage events. I am never on screen unless I am doing something with the car that they want a shot of but I can sympathize about having to occasionally help with the camera crew. As much as our boss loves driving in races it's still just a means for filming content, which is what pays for it all. If you like that even you should come out to see the Rolex Motorsports Reunion in Monterey every year. Its the best in the world for vintage wheel to wheel racing. Second would be Goodwood Revival. I would have them the other way around but at Goodwood Revival they only feature cars up to the early 60's which cuts off all of the great racing groups of the late 60's and on. Also Monterey has three of the largest yearly worldwide vintage auctions occurring within arms reach of each other. About twice as many cars as the European auctions at any given time. When things open up come out to Monterey.
Definitely the Lotus. Reminds me also of James Bond and as a kid, saw one of our locals drive it and the sound of the engine coming around the corner always was music to my ears 🤍💗🤍!!
Is the right answer. I owned a garage in the past, don't do it. There's an old saying, about how to end up with a million quid in the Motor Trade...........start with two million!
@@RichardASK this is what I'm hearing. There are a lot of people I'm speaking to are saying similar things. There's a good number of them looking at different career paths. Something is killing the industry, and I am convinced that its the move towards greener vehicles.
I wouldn't have bought any of the 3 cars. I would have paid more than £6300, for the Model 2 Sunbeam, so it could join my 1929 Model 90, 1930 Model 8 and 1922 TT Longstroke. What a shame I was unaware of this auction. Bugger!
To be honest, I'd have none of the cars. I'd have, in order, the 1927 Sunbeam Model 2 and the Norton Dominator. The Sunbeam would go in my sitting room, and the Norton would be my Sunday ride.
Interesting. BUT, at Silverstone and right across the street is Aston Martin. So close. Coulda done Hiya Seb, what's up Lance? I know, it's all under construction.
10:15 - 10:30 I am assuming those are V10s. If that is right, I'm further assuming they are Judd V10s. Feel free to shoot me down, if you know, they are something else entirely.
Hammond is a multimillionaire so he doesn't need to sell any of his cars or bikes , plus the amount of money he will be getting from the TV show to see the so-called struggles of him been a business man doing repairs on cars will easy pay for the new work shop are all the bits and bobs in that repair shop
It's difficult to accept the idea of Hammond needing to sell cars to fund the business. I hate how reality shows create these silly plot lines that we know aren't true. We are supposed to believe he had NO idea how much it would cost to build a shop, buy the machinery needed, and how long it might take to be profitable? That's such basic business stuff, it's impossible to accept he was completely clueless before starting the process. I completely accept he's cashing in on a hot market to help offset costs, THAT sounds logical, but believing Hammond is short on cash overall, I dunno' that's tough to believe. Also, where's Lucy!?
You'll notice there is no Morgan - it was destroyed in a flood last year. Cars need storage .. sadly he's not got enough at his current home. BUT think about how many cars he's still got.
I don’t think he ever said he was short of cash. He actually said he wasn’t spending his “family” money on the business, he wanted to raise the funds for the business without affecting his wife and daughters…
Fantastic that the manufacturers / privateer teams allowed you access to the garage area. And great that they keep these beasts alive and running for people to enjoy.
I know this must be tough but, Hammond is absolutely doing it for the right reasons.
I would go for the Lotus. It may not be the exact car, but if I could drive and feel like James Bond, that's the car I would go for.
The Lotus. Those pop out headlights are iconic.
The Lotus would be my choice from the Hammond collection.
P.S Great to meet Mike during the Auction. Pure luck that I was standing right behind Hammond during the entire sale!

Without doubt.. the Esprit. Love the sounds of the Classic. Cheers!
911 for me all day long….had a 7 year old 911 C4S a few years back and loved the car. Slumming it sort of these days, with an under the radar Audi S4, but would love another 911 in the future
I appreciate your sincerity Mike, I like the way you speak about cars; your interest shows 🙂
Great video with all the F1 cars and LMP cars too! Would’ve loved to see more of that

Oooo Jim Clark`s car , what a legend
Poor Hammond, he looks forlorn, fair play to him, putting his money where his mouth is.
I was thinking the same. He looks a bit frazzled.
If you're happy and you know it, clap your hands 👏
I agree, The Classic is absolutely amazing! Love going there and there's something for the whole family!
Such a likeable chap Richard is. Must hurt to sell his toys :-)
How did I miss this channel, I've subscribed (although I'm sure I was), thanks Mike, enjoying the content.
That pretty 911 all day, no question - and a German car in white or silver: perfect!
Love the content. Cant believe you only have 13.5k subscribers.
Richard you have the memories. Hold on to the great ones
fantastic behind the scenes ... highlight was the Williams cars, my favourite cars from that era of F1, especially Nigel's
I would take the Sunbeam . The crudeness of early machines to where they are now.

FW14-B. The last ever, true F1 car, where design meets function meets technology meets beauty.
"wow, that's loud. I'll video it so everyone can hear how loud it is"
listens back to video
"nope, not even close"
Definitely the Lotus. Reminds me also of James Bond and as a kid, saw one of our locals drive it and the sound of the engine coming around the corner always was music to my ears 🤍💗🤍!!
Historic motorsport is infinitely better than anything present-day.
I'd go for the Lotus Esprit 350s V8 - A real cool classic. Greetings from Dubai.
That 911 definately. I'd love to have such a great car one day. That Kawa750 looks stunning as well.
Seems that everyone is going for the Lotus, but me, I'd have the Bentley!
Me too!
Nigel Mansel & Damon Hill F1 cars were the best !!
I would definitely had kept the Lotus but🤷♂️best wishes for your future business endeavors Mr Hammond
Yeah me too. Would love to see what cars he kept.
3:43 what kind of car is that right side white/red with number 7 ?
After watching Richard's new show on Discovery, and now the last two Drivetime vlog's, you just put me off buying a garage.
Is the right answer. I owned a garage in the past, don't do it. There's an old saying, about how to end up with a million quid in the Motor Trade...........start with two million!

Great job 👍
I absolutely love and prefer the Lotus Esprit 350 Sport, but I would have gone for the Porsche 911T if I had to choose one out of the three
Can someone please tell me what is the name of the event there at because i want to go
The Bentley: real class. I loathe Porsche 911s with a passion but I could be tempted by Hammond's, it is small and light, what a sports car should be.
The 911 all day long! That is an amazing Porsche.
Bugger the cars Mike I'd have that lovely Sunbeam or the Guzzi.
That bentley s2
Richard looked like he was feeling the strain, poor guy. Some really cool cars tho after. Would love to see Mike to a feature on Chaparral Cars
I wouldn't have bought any of the 3 cars. I would have paid more than £6300, for the Model 2 Sunbeam, so it could join my 1929 Model 90, 1930 Model 8 and 1922 TT Longstroke. What a shame I was unaware of this auction. Bugger!
Nevermind Richard's vehicles, I want one of those classic F1 cars at 1:45!
The Kawa Z1 900...... No question
To be honest, I'd have none of the cars. I'd have, in order, the 1927 Sunbeam Model 2 and the Norton Dominator. The Sunbeam would go in my sitting room, and the Norton would be my Sunday ride.
Good choice. I have a Model 90, in my sitting room and it looks beautiful.
I love a classic 911, but if I could put something in my garage it would be that Lotus...
Interesting. BUT, at Silverstone and right across the street is Aston Martin. So close. Coulda done Hiya Seb, what's up Lance? I know, it's all under construction.
Why is the engine of a historic F1 car still confidential ?
If I was to pick one of those classics I would pick the Bentley.
I had an 89 Lotus Turbo Esprit, so naturally, I’d go for the 350 Lotus.
The Lotus all-day long. Lovely car.
10:15 - 10:30 I am assuming those are V10s. If that is right, I'm further assuming they are Judd V10s. Feel free to shoot me down, if you know, they are something else entirely.
911, I love that vehicle
Hammond's show deserves to blow
👍👍👍
Lotus is my favourite
The Verstappen name on the LMP just made it half million more expensive, ads another story to tell
Jos, not Max...
So did Hammond go to literally only the bar?
I would have gone for that Norton!
the bentley
not really a porshe fan, but the 911 is pretty. However, I think I'd much rather like the Bentley. country picnics or popping to the pub.
Definitely the Lotus!
I would go for the Lotus Espri
I'd have the z900 you can keep the tin boxes
The Bentley for me!
the lotus is awsome
the Porsche is, just slightly, ahead of the Kawi.
I really wish him the best. If it all goes balls up he will lose every thing.
Definitely the lotus.
I wonder if James May will bid on the last car on the auction block or if Jeremy Clarkson will bid for him..lol.
The Guzzi Lemans
I love 911's, so i would go for that one.
Mike channel consists of milking the TG/GT team! love it though!
The 911 and the Lotus 😆.

right, but i think it still shows some commitment to his shop.
I don’t think he ever said he was short of cash. He actually said he wasn’t spending his “family” money on the business, he wanted to raise the funds for the business without affecting his wife and daughters…
As much as I would like the Lotus, I couldn’t get in it anymore with my back, so I’ll take the 911.
Williams active suspension is hydraulic not pneumatic
Hands down the Lotus!!!
The absolute OLDEST Richard Hammond has ever looked in his entire life..Ready?? 02:35
It gets better at 4.21
Lotus, as it's British!
911, every day. I have done work on a lotus and i would never try and drive one.
Looking more like old Al Pacino....
The Z900
I'd take the Lotus for sure 👌
Don't use 'C U Next Time' it might offend some people....
I'll have the Kwakka Z900 please thanks.
Bentley.
Lotus !!
Clever move that. Sell a few of your cars and bikes too fund your business...No capital will be used from your bank balance...
Lotus for me
Lotus!
911 hands down
The Norton
I wanted that Kawasaki
Is it me or are the lotuses looking worse the newer the model.
The 911 for certain
911 without a doubt...
The Esprit all day long
