    Just want to say this is THE BEST video for this thing out there! I know this because I have watched them all... No time is wasted, very clear and to the point with a good balance of talk to play. Also it's nice when someone actually pays attention to the quality of their vocals and enables captions as well. Thank you for!

    Friendly heads up to all: An easier way to set the shuffle (swing) setting for the current part you're working on is to press the Edit button + either of the octave buttons to go into measure settings, then turn the dial clockwise 3 clicks past Step Length and you will see the shuffle setting. Updating it here also updates the clip setting.

    Thank you for the great video. I like the overall positivity you are giving it without leaving out necessary criticisms. I pre-ordered one and am glad to have picked it up early on. I also have a Maschine Plus [my first Native Instruments purchase] and I feel like both have their advantages and cons. In my opinion the Maschine Plus feels more premium and to my ears sounds a little higher quality. But I find the Maschine workflow very difficult to get into and requires a lot of workarounds, plus Native Instruments [at least upon release] was kind enough to not provide a manual either physical or digital when it really needs one. I really prefer the overall workflow of the MV-1, and while I agree with the general issues with the lack of an undo feature and the unfortunate screen, at least in Canada this is almost half the cost of the Maschine plus or an akai Live 2. If they keep updating it with more useful features then I think there is a lot of potential for this to become a beloved device for many. But as it stands I do love it and find it is a very useful DAWless style device.

      @@SanjayC I will admit one aspect is a little challenging to me and that is how to get a sample (say I'm recording a line in from a Roland J-6 chord progression) into the Verselab - I can get to the recording phase and complete the recording, but saving it to one of the section pads is proving challenging -- anyway, I'm enjoying these videos. Thanks again.

  • @alexshdvideo

    Looks impressive! Especially for the price. For my first purchase in such things, it seems like a big step. I may start off with NI Maschine Mikro 3. But the Roland is very interesting.. will have to watch more videos on how it works. Does NI Maschine really competes directly with the Roland Verselab? Similar but very different? Meaning, it’s not either/or, but more likely 1st purchase and later 2nd purchase?

    • @SanjayC
      @SanjayC  3 года назад

      The Maschine Mikro is not standalone (you need a computer connected), so it doesn't compete directly. NI makes the Maschine + which is standalone

    • @alexshdvideo
      @alexshdvideo 3 года назад

      @@SanjayC true. The with or without the computer isn’t a huge deal for me. The workflow is. (Will I use one more than the other). The NI is more capable if I get more expansions plus Komplete ultimate etc as a full working system.. which I will likely too anyway. I like NI for my keyboard. Just Mikro MK3 or the larger MK3? This Roland is very interesting though. More limited but the fact you can creat or dabble when I don’t want to be near a computer. The physical hardware and self contained look is intriguing. Watching the more videos about creating tracks does feel like it will be a longer learning curve for me than Maschine with or without Logic since most DAW’s behave similar to a NLE. Similar logic of assembly of media etc. But looking forward to your follow ups.. The Roland is a very clean looking unit.

  • @Eladar1

    The real question here is this, maschine or MPC? As someone who is guitarist/keyboard player/singer who’s looking to get into some more electronic stuff.

    • @karlliebknecht4889
      @karlliebknecht4889 3 года назад

      The MPCs are primarily for playing and manipulating samples, that's why the beat making kids like them so much.
      Personally, I find them lacking when it comes to sound synthesis. Roland's Zencore is far superior in this regard.
      If you are also a finger, then the MV-1 is definitely your groovebox of choice.

    I have the mpc one. Since i only use it in tandem with a sound module, and I do not sample, the mv1 has the 3000 presets the fantom has so seems like this may be the choice for me. My question for you is, does the mv1 contain clips like the mc 101/707? Reason I ask is because you can basically make it a 16 track machine when you export the sounds.

    • @SomebodyPickaName
      @SomebodyPickaName 2 года назад

      It's because this way it allows you to have different swings for different parts of the song since each section has it's own swing settings. Also, an easier way to get to the swing (shuffle) settings is to press the Edit button + either of the Octave buttons, then turn the dial 3 times past step length and you will find "Shuffle" there in the measure edit settings. You will notice that the clip shuffle matches whatever is set for the measure shuffle (so setting it in either the clip settings or the measure settings will reflect the same changes). The clip shuffle is just an easier way to set each clip to a different shuffle since you can press a pad (clip 1), change the shuffle, press the second pad (clip 2), change the shuffle, etc...but if you're just looking to change the shuffle for the part of the song your'e currently working on, it's faster and easier to do the measure edit way.

    I'm totally new at this and lost! I bought a Novation launchkey MK3 61 and I'm using Ableton 10 Lite. I downloaded the Standalone features into it thinking that I was supposed too! Now I can't get back to the original settings that came with the controller, when I turn the launchkey MK3 61 on it automatically comes on in the Custom Modes as in the user manual 3.0 Standalone Features. I want to use it the way it's in user manual 2.1 Session Mode! How do I change it?
