I love how they're interweaving flashbacks in between present days scenes, as you get more of a feeling more how the characters are handling their grief following Susannah's passing.

The book was set at night and it was a bit more vividly described in the book. Wanted to see Conrad a bit more nervous in the show
To everyone who says Conrad only went there for that random girl, remember this. This is belly assuming Conrad only went to the boardwalk with her to talk to the female game attendant but he’d seen belly eyeing the polar bear all summer and spent $40 winning it for her. He was also upset when she didn’t come back. Read the books

This was my favourite episode from the season so far .I cried watching Conrad’s reaction to belly picking out the giraffe and also when all the furniture was gone from the house.I just hate aunt Julia

Probably the episode I would watch least on repeat BUT it definitely had good scenes! I cried during Steven and Conrad’s opening scene. I loved that they finally got alone screen time, and it was emotional.

I'm so glad we're getting more flashbacks besides what happened between Season 1 and 2. And I'm especially happy for seeing those little scenes with Susannah.

The flashback scene is a good example as to how Belly is an unreliable narrator. She automatically assumed that he went for the girl but he actually went to win her Junior Mint cuz he’s seen her eyeing it all the time. You can clearly see how he was hurt when she didn’t come back as well
Conrad and Belly are just made for each other…..like it hurts to see them like this.They both know that they want to be with each other and Love each other but are forced to stay away from each due to there grief and ongoing circumstances and this is soo Painful to watch😭😭

So true! The way Belly's voice over went: "Jeremiah has always been there for me", made me only feel she is forcing herself to feel some romantic feelings for Jer.. Just by saying that she is already comparing him to Conrad since he broke her heart. Thats not real.. She might think she can move on with Jer and be happy with him for a while but Conrad will always be number one.. Just seeing how she interacts and thinks about Jeremiah is evidence enough..
And now she is sort of tip toeing around Conrad, trying not to let him in, thats another proof LOL

@@rhondac.891Actually he spent $40 trying to win Jr. Mint for Belly. Because he had seen her eyeing that bear all summer. He went to that ring toss to win Jr. Mint for her. Even in the series when he's "looking at the girl" according to belly, you can clearly see that the bears are behind her. So yes, he did go to the ring toss, just for Belly. He was always like that even with the crystal unicorns he bought her for her birthday. But that's on the books.

The look on Conrad's face when Belly took the giraffe instead, it breaks my heart 😭Its quite shitty of her to assume that Con only went with her for another girl, I didn't really like Belly in Season 2 because it felt like she was kind of messing with the boys a bit. Like, if you have feelings for someone and then you don't, but they still like you, don't go off finding another boy to keep you company, especially if they're brothers. I HATED the scene where Belly went "I don't want you to like me I need you to want me" I'm not really sure if this accurate. I was team Jere at first but I feel like he's using the fact that Belly and Con are not together as an advantage. I mean lets be honest, walking into the person you love kissing your own sibling! I'm team Conrad and I think he deserves better, not someone like Belly who hops around between those two and then getting jealous if you're with someone else, considering that Conrad had to keep all the family issues to himself hoping that it would help Jeremiah keep going. I think Belly just NEEDS set her mind on someone, I think she and Jeremiah are better off as friends, I mean she did chose Jere but who knows...I'm also hoping for season 3!!!!

Conrad and Belly are meant to be. I use to be team Jere but now I’m team Conrad. I can see that they truly care for each other even if it hurts. I think Jere is better to be best friends with Belly. Also he dosen’t handle situations very well, I understand and completely agree that he’s hurt. But for Conrad, he handles situations pretty classy. Even though sometimes he bottles up things. I understand that feeling cause I also went though that too. I feel like that’s definitely something he can work on. I also am hoping that I can see more of Steven and Taylor scenes because they’re so positive and meant to be with each other. They understand what it means to be in a relationship. Lastly, hopefully Jeremiah and Conrad can talk with each other more and open to each other honestly. Even Susannah was hopeful of that, I hope they can fulfill it and come to the realization that this whole love shouldn’t keep them apart. Truly it’s Team Conrad cause he’s classy, not a baby, and has good indie fashion. Belly seems to have fun with him and have deep conversations. With Jeremiah I think he just needs friends. Belly is more of. Best friend.
The thing is Conrad has always been in love with her even though he didn’t realize in what way he loved her. Belly was the one who said Conrad only went to the boardwalk with her to talk to the game attendant but she has been proven to be an unreliable narrator especially since she isn’t in his head to know why he wanted to go to that stand. The reason he wanted to go to that stand was because he had seen how much belly wanted the polar bear all summer. He spent $40 winning it for her and was upset when she didn’t come back. He’s the one who taught her to dance, got Junior mint for her, the glass unicorn they showed in the last episode. I also think him telling her he likes her better with glasses was him saying he liked her before her “glow up.” He taught her about infinity one summer when they were much younger and he remembered it to buy her the infinity necklace for her birthday years later. It can be argued that a teenage boy doesn’t buy a teenage girl a gift like that if there weren’t romantic feelings involved.

Conrad and belly will always have like a romantic connection. I don’t want anyone that doesn’t look at me like Conrad looks at Belly. And I haven’t found a friendship like Jeremiah and belly. Jere and Belly are just friends. That’s the way they should be there just comfortable enough to think they can make it something more but they don’t. They’re not in love with each other. There’s no romantic chemistry there’s platonic best friend chemistry, but no romantic.

Well this was because of lack of comunication when a situation happens.Belly asumes everything in her mind and doesn’t let Conrad explains her.She just leaves and she is kind of selfish with Conrad for instance the funeral scene .I think she needs to work better on her first and then she can be whoever she wants.also she was selfish with jere for kissing him and then Conrad.

ok ... i am not a fan of how this season is paced! firstly the first 3 episodes that goes back and forth in time... but now with this epi 4 it makes it clear, this season has a pacing issue. it's basically just scenes of people talking. like scene: talk - and cut. the first season felt like everything happened so quick. you never knew what would happen or where the day would take you. truly a summer vacation and had a clear story thread. now that there has been a death, obviously things had to change, but the heart of this how feels totally off. whoever is the director this season, doesn't do what season one did. season one was magic. fun. romantic. heartbreaking. this season feels like just a bunch of slow paced scenes focused on dialogue. nothing spontaneous or interesting happens. it's very oddly told.
Ngl, I have had similar thoughts about this season but that aside, Still loving it! Hoping the pacing will get better!

Technically for us it isn’t supposed to feel like a flashback. We do t know what happens the year after the summer everything fell apart. This was just a way to catch us all up from Susannah’s passing, to the break up between Conrad and Belly. We wouldn’t be able to understand what’s really going on now if we would have missed some of that. The whole time you’d be wondering “ What happened when Belly told Jere it’s over” “Why did Conrad and Belly break up?” And a bunch of other stuff…
