Great review of an ok locomotive. I really wish Athearn would start introducing more models with working walkway lighting. I never realized how nice that feature is until I bought a Genesis Dash 9-44CW and a Scaletrains GE C-40-9, and the lighting makes the Scaletrains locomotive a lot more appealing, to me at least.
those additional lighting features do look nice!
Excellent looking model from Athearn. Nice review thanks James. Only thing I wish Athearn replicated the windshield shape like they actually did on their DDA40X where they smoothed out the angles with curves like the prototype. Proto 2000 nailed it on their SD60 and Kato on their SD70MAC. Funny thing when I worked as an engineer for Rio Tinto
Really wish the manufacturers would come out with something new and rare in plastic form. Maybe come out with passenger cars with realistic lighting and sound.

The same Tsunami Junk sound decoder they’ve been using for the past 20+ years😂
it does sound the same, Soundtraxx really needs to step it up a notch (pun intended).
the Tsunami2 did come out in 2016 or so but some of their recordings are indeed very primitive, the 16-710G3B default file being one of them. Try playing with CV123 if you want the newer T2 16-710G3A recording

I agree! Would have liked tinted windows though.
Hope they update this one to G2.0 standards with an updated windshields, roller bearing caps, and see thru steps. But still looks like a nice mostly up to date locomotive with lift rings and PTC. Just not as nice as their SD60E or Tri-Clops.
Are the number boards lighted on these locomotives 2457 and 2442? Thanks for the great videos. Really helpful.

Bearing caps don't appear to be moving in the run-by.
I might have been wrong about them turning or they're not working as designed.
it’s not a Genesis 2.0 model so it won’t the spinning bearing caps

@@jakes_trains yeah, there are several that don’t, 2 of which I own that ride on the SD80/90MAC chassis don’t have the spinning caps. The G2 ACes and M-2s don’t have them either

Hey, I don't know if you could help me but i have small problem on how to do other fonction on my recent purchase of rapido tlraoyal hudson and I dont see how i can program it on my controller i bought resently as Well, its a NCe power cab? And press option for the fonctions 13 through 28 and nothing happens, Any help?
