What a very nice thing to say. I wish we could turn to the pages back to the time when Carter was in the White House and brought professionalism with him upon his awakening each day. I am not sure if we will ever return to those great years. I once knew a man who served our country as a spy in Africa and he was such a great man. He recieved the CIA's highest award~ the Medal of Honor. Now I think of him and how patriotic he was and how much he loved out country. I am not sure what he would think of our current status. His wife outlived him and it was not until after she passed that I learned that she worked in the same capacity as her husband. I was told that she worked closely to Admiral Nimitz during WWII. This couple traveled the world often throgh their assignments. I hope to someday see the fascinating world they saw. I pray that we can rise above our political system and bring peace to the world and love to all out neigbors. Thank you for your service President Carter and RIP. And to you, Lt. Col. Grubb, thank you for your service as well. Thanks for your kind words about President Carter.

No doubt Mr. Carter would have left the assessment to God, but you are right, the transparency of his motivation was extraordinary, especially for a person of such prominence in the world of politics. In light of recent events, one might almost say that he was too high-minded, too honorable to enjoy lasting success in that sphere.
I came to the USA as a foreign student in 1979, during the Iran crisis. I noticed immediately how the attention of US news media was riveted relentlessly upon that affair, and in retrospect I crtainly understand why.
I felt that Mr. Carter was blamed unjustly for circumstances over which he had no control, whereas Mr. Reagan, without doing anything concrete, was able to benefit from public anger at Mr. Cater's expense, and ultimately resolution of the crisis fell into hs lap.
But this would not be the first or the last time that jingoistic posturing won the day,
a victory of hubris over humility.
To borrow a Biblical turn of phrase, men love to have their ears tickled.
It is to Mr. Cater's credit that he rejoiced over the liberation of the American hostages, even in political defeat.
I think Camp David. it's impossible to overstate the importance of the reconciliation between Israel and Egypt which Mr. Carter brokered at Camp David------not least for the security of Israel, which no longer had to fight for its existence on all fronts as before.
Not that Mr. Carter was one to choose sides automatically. Indeed I wonder whether his sense of fairness didn't go into overdrive.
Specifically, I considered his attempts at dialogue with North Korea and Hamas naive.
Perhaps, when one meets a person face-to-face with the best of intentions, it is difficult to appreciate the monstrosity of an evil system which that human individuall represents.
No doubt much more is known about the iniquity of those systems than Mr. Carter could have known at the time.

God rest his wonderful soul. He was the first President I was old enough to vote for and I never regretted it. He was the most underrated POTUS we've had. He was up against a well oiled political GOP machine that likely committed treason in the hostage situation. He was a Washington outsider and that hurt him. He is the only past President that worked tirelessly for human rights and to ease human suffering. His humanity is a lesson for us all.

A TRULY UNDERRATED president! Even since he left office his status as AN HONEST, DECENT MAN/human who truly lived his values...has gone up. Respect Mr. Carter. I feel bad for how he was pictured in the media as weak and a failure at the time. He tried to make us aware of our energy use and THAT WE NEEDED TO CUT IT and look at how we sourced it...decades ago....
