I agree completely. Labs instinctively know how to swim. Our current lab fell off a dock when a puppy and swam to the nearby shore as if she had been doing it all her life. Can't keep her out of the water now.
What we humans can learn from this dog: - He is not forcing the puppies to jump in the water. He respect their individuality and free will. They jump whenever they feel ready. - He is himself the rolmodel. - He saw that not everyone have the courage to jump in the water. So he first try to relax them by playing with them, before jumping again in the water. - He doesn't try to control the situation, he is living in the here and now. He will only help if they are in danger.
Id like to add: -when one lagged behind he came back to check on them. He checked on each of them to make sure they were ok. -No loud barking or rough-housing, you could tell he had lots of energy but was still really gentle with his kids.
