@@LGBTQ71 I was watching the Seasons End documentary that was talking about H singing older songs, and how he was told to sing what he “feels”, which played into why they don’t really play stuff from Fugazi. I have to respect him for that.
H giving Script his own magical vocal performance. Never be afraid to play the old stuff - love ALL of Marillion music. Steve Hogarth is such a wonderful and charismatic singer.
Outstanding performance from Mr h! He puts his heart and soul into the song. Lets not forget Ian's take on the drums too! Happy 40th to the album that started it all for Marillion and myself!
Saw both singers live. Both were great magnets on stage in their own ways. Saw Trewavas with Transatlantic, he can do even much more than forming the chassis for the sound that Marillion delivers. Always made me cry for luck to be able to enjoy music like only they can offer.
🎶The fool escaped from paradise will look over his shoulder and cry Sit and chew on daffodils and struggle to answer why? As you grow up and leave the playground where you kissed your prince and found your frog Remember the jester that showed you tears, the script for tears 🎶 ❤
Real music from a time of great music. H is killing it. Marillion is truly the best band you never heard. I’m just pleased I got to see them twice in concert. Magnificent musicians.
Soundtrack of my life…. So many brilliant songs followed through the years, but Script and the whole album stands for a special period in my life and friendships that last til today ❤
I was 15, into prog-anything and LOVED Script. Memorized the friggin’ thing. I went to see them open for Rush at Radio City Music Hall and personally had a blast. I say personally because after a couple of songs the Rush crowd turned on our boys. I managed to get to the second row and was standing on a seat making eye contact with Fish as I was shouting out the final verse of “Forgotten Sons” with him word for word as the Rush crowd boo’ d. Fish had a big dramatic ending with a grand pose… then went and picked up his props and left. My first Marillion show was one of their first in the USA. Great memories. Oh yeah, then Rush came on.
Many Years I ignore Marillion and Steve Hogarth because I loved Fish ....But the last Years I followed Marillion with Steve and I love him too....He is doing a Great Job
I saw them on the tour to promote this Album in 1983. I had gone to see Peter Hammill who was the supporting act, and then I retired to the bar. Then I heard this and was blown away-- I came out of the bar pretty quick
Hogarth is doing an amazing job with the lyrics. Even though I grew up with Fish being The Singer, I do enjoy Hogarth's renditions; he must've been working hard AF on making the songs "his own." Bravo, and bravi to the whole band!
This is the song that got me interested in this band as a long time 70s prog fan. I prefer most live versions to the studio and I think that both Hogarth and Fish do this tune justice.
I was 15 when I heard Kayleigh. I liked it. My big brother said it was just coz it was popy, and threw me a cassette of Script. I had a prend walkman, mum and me went for a holiday for 2 weeks by then i knew all the words and music. Got home stole Fugazi of said brother and my journey started like that. He certainly is eating his words as I still love theh h or Fish, doesn't matter to me, although I find h more melodic and Marillion is a whole band, when sometimes started to sound like Fish and Marillion. But that's the past, saftly to thank my brother for being an arrogant git lol
I wasn't sure this would work but how WRONG I was....this is a masterpiece...Fish and Steve Hogarth are both absolutely wonderful... I can't fault either of them. All 6 of my memorable Marillion gigs have had S.H. at the helm, starting with the MARBLES tour...6 of the BEST I'd say.
Please God let them all have healthy lives and relationships for the next 20 years. Please. So we can travel on with them for another while. Peace out!!
I love h does not try and 'copy' Fish, he does it his ways, that is why I think it works. And that he won't do Fugazi, probably because he thinks it is just not his singing style and would not want screw it up for even trying. And it is nice he knows this is why he his one of the best frontman ever.
This was the absolute high watermark of H performing Fish-era songs, completely destroying the claim that his voice doesn't fit them 'somehow'. Even more controversial might be to point out that Rothers' playing is pretty sloppy in that closing section *ducks*
Talk about leaving it all on the stage! Pure emotion from Marillion and the vocal performance from h is just brilliant, better than the original to my ears. Sorry Fish!
At PZ, probably not. But Stillmarillion have played it on their tour. I saw them in Chester , and sang myself hoarse bellowing along. As did most of the audience.
The emotion, the feel, the music. This is music! Long live Marillion!
The best Band around the World. The End of this Discussion 😋👍😀😘😉🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻🥰
I adore h, take on it. I also applauding the desicion not to sing from Fugazi as he could not give it the vocal sounds it has.
Very poor not like original marillion with fish far better vocalist
@@robinheighway6227 hoy fish no puede cantar como Steve. En realidad, ya canta, recita. Y es una pena. En su momento, era único.

So right! I adore h sining style anyway in this because he does not try and mimic, he just gives it all he has

What a voice!

Fantastic version…in every discipline
... and just like that, the journey begun for s then 15 years old teen that couldn't understand how a sing caused those feelings in him
Thanks
Marillion, la mejor banda del mundo en activo. Con Fish, con Hoggarth,...

They are amazing live arent they?

That was breathtaking.
Happy Birthday to the album that brought goosebumps to my entire body when I first heard it!!

We need a 40 year’s celebration tour!!!
Love Marillion's music alwayss
Absolutely AWESOME 🤘💥👏👏👏👏👏👍😎
That was such a good gig. Good recording too.
Bravi, e' sempre un piacere ascoltarvi regalate sempre nuove emozioni.
It must be such a trip to have 1000s of people engage live with your music.
Saw this performed live at Milton Keynes Bowl back in '85(?) in the rain. Magnificent then and still great with H singing. Great tunes always endure!
The Best.
Man.Truly beautiful. Brings me back to first time hearing this
Many Years I ignore Marillion and Steve Hogarth because I loved Fish ....But the last Years I followed Marillion with Steve and I love him too....He is doing a Great Job
God knows how h feels about this hokey old song, but boy does he give it what he's got.
That was an incredible performance of Script! Goose bumps and tears! ❤️
MARILLION THE BEST

How bloody good are Marillion, how bloody valuable. Thank you guys. 🙏
Hogarth is doing an amazing job with the lyrics. Even though I grew up with Fish being The Singer, I do enjoy Hogarth's renditions; he must've been working hard AF on making the songs "his own." Bravo, and bravi to the whole band!
Steve in great voice
Great version. H nails it ❤
how wonderful to hear that, no wonder I'm a huge fan, long live Marillion.

I'm crying now, H, man, I love you.
Majestic 👌
unfreaking real awesome just awesome
Hi! I'm new here. 😆
I definitely missed this band in my teenage angst! I wish I had heard them 35 yrs ago! ✌️
Saw Marillion back on the 'Script' Tour in 1983. I was one of 600 people in the audience at Hull City Hall, England. A great night.
Thank you for this masterpiece ❤❤❤❤
Song of my Life ❤️❤️❤️
Parabéns grande performance do Marillion e em especial do Steve Hogarth.
H changing the lyrics:
"I broke with classic style (...) to bleed the lyrics for my song".
I'm glad he did.
40 years. Wow.
The web is still my favorite off this album
Hola bellicimo video su voz genial de corazon Saludos

Sure love the part where he got the lyrics wrong. Do it right or don’t do it.
Sensacional...Marillion❤️!
I saw them on the Script tour. Liverpool Royal Court '83. Peter Hammill was support. Fantastic.
Escuto marillion a mas de 30 anos. E amo toda sua discografia .

Fish rimarrà sempre e per sempre, la voce storica della band ❤️

Pink Floyd,Génesis y Marillon ❤
Is that video / concert available to buy?
Can‘t find it on the Space Website……
Fish is the best
Please, can you upload the videoclips of the Marillion songs?????
I Love Marillion only...Fish is Fish
He should never do the Fish songs. And he got the lyrics wrong. Really not good.
This was the absolute high watermark of H performing Fish-era songs, completely destroying the claim that his voice doesn't fit them 'somehow'. Even more controversial might be to point out that Rothers' playing is pretty sloppy in that closing section *ducks*
Maybe, it's strange, but I have always liked how Hogarth sings Fish's songs. His voice sounds better and he puts so much emotion.
Somebody call the police, Steve is crushing another guitar. He needs to stop that silly obsession. 😂😂😂
Talk about leaving it all on the stage! Pure emotion from Marillion and the vocal performance from h is just brilliant, better than the original to my ears. Sorry Fish!
where is Fish?
Il miglior periodo dei Marillion. Il miglior periodo storico dei Marillion con Fish ❤️
Che senza Steve Hogarth però sarebbero spariti completamente dalle scene, quindi direi in retrospettiva che ci è andata molto bene.
Too much too what? 😉😳
will we be treated to a live performance of Grendel?
At PZ, probably not.
But Stillmarillion have played it on their tour. I saw them in Chester , and sang myself hoarse bellowing along. As did most of the audience.
Sadness Emotional suicide
fucking awesome perfect - as good as the Fish versions - h nailed it
H fluffed the lines and mumbled on several occasions during the song. Good performance though!
No F era
No H era
This is Marillion
Oj to ja znam lepiej tekst Script ot SH :)
To me this is the best song ever written. I think the 1983 live version with Fish is much much better even Mick Pointer drumming is better than Ian's.
Seriously ??? A version without Fish... I m so disapointed
Nobody puts 🐠 in the corner 🤣
