Hopefully his next interview went something like this.
"What was your reason for leaving your last job?"
"I stopped an armed robbery, and was fired for it."
"How did you do that?"
"I presented my firearm, and the burglar ran off."
"Would you do it again?"
"Well he was using a weapon, so yes."
"Congratulations you're hired."
Under the law here if I enter a posted business (legally posted 30.06-30.07 signs) while carrying they can ask me to leave and if I refuse call a cop to cite me for a civil trespass. If I'm asked to leave I will and I will avoid where possible doing business with such establishments but I'm not surrendering my right to self defense because they are uncomfortable having armed patrons.
If I am at someone's home and they find out I'm carrying and have a problem with it I'll leave and not return.
In Alabama you can tell me not to open carry but you can't stop concealed carry.
Only in government buildings are you not allowed to carry your gun at all.
Appreciate you 2 freedom fighters!!! Thank you guys so much, keep up the great work! 🙏👍🇺🇸
Thanks for another great legal lesson highlighting some of the subtleties on criminal vs. civil employment law, at-will employment based on rules of the employer-employee relationship, and the rights of property owners in a free society vs. imposing one's pro-gun beliefs on them. I also like the distinction of OK protecting one's own life vs. that of not needing to protect the property (especially if without training). While I find that I am more of a libertarian as I get older, I try to be respectful of other people's point of views and certainly would not be found trespassing by purposely disregarding the rules. Mark also makes a good point about responsible gun owners following the rules where idiots probably wouldn't anyhow, so it's the same catch-22 as anti-gun laws: bad guys like soft targets.
Isn't an employer obligated to provide a safe working environment regardless of rules imposed?
I didn't know that my employer is required to hire a bodyguard for me. Good to know. LOL.
you can get in trouble if you protect yourself. but if you get harmed or even killed they wont get in trouble for not providing you security they required you to deny yourself of. where i work I have to break 2 of the rules of stupid, late at night in the worst areas of the towns I work at, and alone. nobody takes the security protocols we have very seriously and even though when I'm on shift i make sure i do, there are so many massive holes and problems with our security infrastructure and preparedness that I cant work under these conditions. I was not aware of the policy when I was hired and maybe they changed it at some point and that's when I've noticed but I'm making plans to leave. till then, I'm armed.
I think that question has to be worked out by all people. Stay safe!
Similar story but instead of "can't be your patient anymore" it was "Thank you for assuming the responsibility and liability of protecting me and my family."
The response was something like "What do you mean?"
"That sign you have posted only applies to those responsible citizens who have gone through State approved training, classroom and range, and an extensive background check. What would a criminal think on looking at that sign? Would he think "I'd better leave my firearm which I am already carrying illegally in the car" or "Ooooh, easy target"? I am one of the so trained and permitted; so, by denying me the ability to protect my family I expect that you are taking the responsibility of our protection while we are on your property. "
He promptly walks over and rips it off the wall.
That's the problem with a NO GUNS sign. The only people who will follow the rules are law abiding citizens!
Look how safe Mexico is and they have very strict gun control!
I ignore signs all the time. Because in Texas the state designates specific signs. If the sign doesn't comply with the state it has no weight of law. However, if asked to leave by someone in authority of the property you must leave. Gr8 vid. 🔫
@@papimaximus95 You're probably right. It's something to think about. 👍
Gotta love Texas for that.
Fuck signs, period. My life, my right, my gun, my choice, I dont support as many "anti gun" places as possible, but if i have to go, i go how i please.
John I think it would be a good topic to speak about what a concealed carrier should do if they are in a mass shooting scenario. How do you protect yourself from officers not shooting you thinking you are the bad guy? This scares me the most wanting to take out the bad guy but yet in a chaotic situation like that I heard some officers say they will should whomever has a gun in that situation no questions asked !
A "public accommodation" is not just "someone else's property."
The problem is flawed liability laws.
You both are too altruistic for me. I respect the rights of other people but when it comes to self-preservation I cease giving a damn about someone's business preferences. No metal detector, no disarmament.
What if that employee was injured because they were DENIED their Right to Defend Themselves? What is that Employers liability?
It could be. But it's not strict liability. It would have to be proven in court that the employer knew the danger was likely, and through gross negligence, knowingly created an environment where the employee was likely to be injured.
The problem is that if you are a company that sells it´s products to a certain group of people who are anti gun like the company Starbucks you could have massive losses of income due to your costumers stop buying your products cause they feel "unsafe" around armed clerks.
The company should be able to fire the clerk for wearing a gun if they prohibit it.
Property rights DO NOT trump my god given rights to self defense. Any business that is open to the general public has no right to restrict my ability to carry there. No sign or words on a piece of paper will ever change that. My right to defend myself trumps ALL.
Sure they do. Their property is private and they have the right to say who can go there and who cannot. Otherwise you can't tell someone to get off your lawn.
@@ASPextra while they legally in some places, I disagree with them morally and therefore do not abide by those laws. My state does not recognize signage as law and I can legally carry into a business that has a no firearms sign, but even if that wasn't the case I would do the same. Sure they can ask me to leave if they somehow realize I'm carrying, but I've broken no laws. A businesses rules are not law, and should not be treated as such.
So you're cool with that same thing being applied to your front lawn then. Got it.
@@ASPextra there is a HUGE difference between a private, personal dwelling and a business that is open to the general public. Anyone can walk into Walmart without permission and do their shopping, the same is absolutely not true for a persons home. If your business is open to everyone then you can't limit what people carry on their person with them. Now if you have an actual private business where you need to be a member to do business there then it is different, now it is no longer public. I can't believe you're honestly trying to equate the two, that's just asinine.
1:33 "the law is big"....i.e., GOOD LUCK!!!! Only $ counts.
That's the sad truth.
Really enjoy the videos. Please discuss suppressors in the use of home defense. Thanks
Good idea.
Glad you said something to the dentist. And also glad it wasn't his sign!
I can't imagine anything more satisfying than assisting a business in removing a gun free zone sticker.
I would also add that we should not oversimplify hiring an individual based solely on his willingness to draw again. There are many other important attributes and skills involved when considering a candidate for hire. While I understand how some people say that in jest, but I can sense that there are others who take it seriously.
You have too honor the sign. But like John the new gas station opened with no gun sign. Walked in let them no I would not be back. They didn't care hundreds of customers later they took it down. Course I haven't re-engaged to patron them. Once in a while so no gun sign can have a lasting effect end after it was removed. Your choosing to limit your customers
A sign, piece of paper, law, or person, nothing will prevent me from defending myself how I see fit. Take your gun where you please, fuck anyone who has a problem. That is why we have the right to bear arms anyways
Squad!!
I would draw a distinction between rules as stated, and rules as enforced. A lot of times a no guns sign is no more than a wish.
