Oh my gosh! That's exactly how I feel. I watched those hearings. He's never been a good man.
You are so right. I remember the Anita Hill hearings. All the time I just knew she was not lying. Karma gets him in the end! Even at that time he was a unpleasant human being, always feeling that life owed him more than he was getting. Negative, arrogant but with insecurity at the bottom of his behaviour. Anita was too intelligent and strong, he could not stand that.
I was in college then. It was a BIG issue on campus! We were expressing our concern for the lack of safety walking on campus at night. Biden did Anita Hill wrong. I did not like him when he defended Thomas and refused to acknowledge she was assaulted by him. Other women also accused him. Look what Thomas has done to repay the big favor from Biden!

That a good chunk of them are on the take contributes, but more so the simple fact they are clearly going down the conservative wish list and undoing decades of settled law just because they can with a super majority.

@@cynthiakapernekas8916 Yeah, justices can be impeached. The problem is there would never be enough votes to do so in the Senate. I think it requires 66 votes, or 2/3 majority. With a nearly event split chamber, it's a virtual impossibility. That's why Trump was never going to be convicted,
Conservative spent decades and countless millions of dollars to build this court. They got lucky with Trump and hit the triple sevens on the Supreme Court slot machine. Right now, the only way the makeup of this court is going to change is if one of the conservatives retires or expires.

I’m old enough to vividly remember how my faith in our government was shattered during Thomas’ nomination hearings when Anita Hill, the amazingly brave, young lawyer who put her reputation on the line to warn us of his repulsive behaviors toward her as his assistant!! She was absolutely believable, and the “boys club” ripped her to shreds and gave him the lifetime position. She wore a stunning turquoise suit and was so articulate and poised, but SCOTUS and cogress ignored her and protected him. He was NEVER the right man for the job…but they KNEW HE WOULD VOTE WITH THEM!!! Thats all that mattered. I hope Anita has had a wonderful life…she deserves the best!!! There definitely needs to be more stringent requirements around finances, ethics, recusal. Along with necessary penalties when those are violated.
It's inexcusable that nominees for the court don't have to answer questions. It's inexcusable that a nominee for the court can have his credit card debt, club memberships, mortgages all paid for. It's inexcusable that a Justice can sit on a case where there's a direct conflict. It's inexcusable that a Justice can effectively be bribed with no penalty.
Hopefully we can tackle some of these if Biden wins and Democrats hold both Chambers.

It's possible Ginny gets investigated, but I think a political decision would be made on indicting her. Because, if you indict her, all eyes are on her husband and confidant. If she was involved, it would strongly imply he was cognizant of the activities and likely complicit. There is so much scandal right now with this court, that having him leave without further eroding the confidence of the court would be of paramount importance to the US government.

I think 14 years on SCOTUS would be about right or 75 years of age. Which ever comes first. That's long enough to maintain some continuity between administrations and election cycles. But still rotate out judges before they can do too much damage or health becoming a huge issue. And it leaves them time to have a bit of retirement and life out of DC.
Imagine if he was more in the middle he would be more respected. His legacy will be reflected in the extra money and gifts bought his rulings. Being an intelligent black man that made all way to the Supreme Court how celebrated he of been if he was a mentor to so many. If he's lonely he did it to himself for the ill gotten gains.😮

As a RN, I saw many people that had anger issues have heart problems. Combined with rage and other negative emotions, it starts to affect other organs. Ginny looks like, to me, that she may have Type 2 diabetes.

Gingin the Genie: mental instability & lack of critical thinking - that’s the hereditary trait. Her susceptibility to cults from a young age is no secret. This is potentially at least partially a genetic thing, but the biggest contributing factor to that lack of critical thinking and susceptibility to magical thinking are tied to being raised in that sheltered, highly religious upbringing (thats how I was raised - really messed me up mentally). Add age-related cognitive issues to the mix and you have the perfect storm. Prepare for (very) public emotional outbursts, public disrobement events, even potentially violent attacks in the public eye. Honestly, I don’t believe for one second he’d spend any time at all taking care of her. He’d institutionalize her or employ care staff to take care of her somewhere he can’t see her fall apart. BUT it would make a really convenient excuse for him to bow out with his dignity intact and escape public humiliation or prosecution for himself.
I have this picture in my head of her standing in a public square next to a fountain, shouting at the pigeons as she starts dropping her jacket, kicking off her shoes, and then someone comes running in to rescue her as she tries to climb into the fountain. I assume thats figurative rather than an actual event, but it does also illustrate the events around her decline very nicely with a single picture.

I can’t imagine that he would resign unless he absolutely had to. His standard of living would nosedive and he knows his fake friends will leave, too.
When the grit of politics makes you weary, take a step back and look at things from a more vibrational point of view. For example: Cash Peters did a show on what we can do as the collective, to support democracy. Some folks are looking at the influence of the solar eclipse ( with a comet at the end) on politics. Other folks have revisited readings that still ring true ( these can be encouraging, as well). Then there’s follow up on one hit wonders we miss. Some ideas, because I’ve felt similar fatigue lately and now you keep 2 channels running. You are a person giving a GIFT to the public and shouldn’t feel bad taking a day or two off when you need to. "the news you digest" - very apt turn of phrase. We often don't pay much attention to what we're immersing ourselves in in that regard, but it certainly can be toxic.
Re the Thomases, what you see is in line with my own readings. I would add that any reason he uses to step down will be welcomed by Crow et al because Thomas (with the spotlight on him these days) has become a liability to them.
