Well done. I have just finished my first model,Santa Maria. I chose to leave sails off. Also had some teak oil left over from my real yacht, brings out the wood beautifully. If you are happy with finish that's all that counts.

This was the very last model I built, after 25 years of modelling, I just ran out of space to put them all and gave away a few to the family too. I just couldn’t do a single layer hull though and having enough white wood over from other jobs, I double hulled mine. I also prefer to use Colron’s antique oil instead of varnish, we modellers all have our own ways. You have made a wonderful job of it, it’s a credit.
Thank you very much for your kind words!!! Indeed , us modelers we have our own way, so we must judge not with what we like but with the work that a model has and also the result. This is another wonderful video, as ever you make it look so easy. I wonder though about the Union flag. The mutiny happened in 1789 - that is before Ireland joined the Union. So, I believe that the diagonal red cross would be missing from the flag. Perhaps I'm incorrect about this.
Thank you very much Robert for your kind words!!! I do not know about the flag and to tell you the truth i didn't check it out historically. I 've just watched the movie :)
Howz it Ive just got this model as a gift and am up to the part where i start putting down the decking ? Whats a good way or method to begin this process and the side panelling and is the side panelling the hard pieces of brown wood or the paper thin wood ???
First of all i hope to enjoy tour present!!! You have to follow the instructions and always before performing a step read carefully the next 3-4 steps to make sure you do not make any mistake. Use the cyanoacrylic glue for the deck planking and make sure there are no gaps between the strips. For the keel , the kit contains the hard brown (sapely) pieces of wood (i believe there where 2 mm thick and 5 or 6 mm wide) for the keel. The using of the thin wood is only if you are not experienced in the planking of the keel. So after you finished the planking with the hard wood you use the thin above the hard to make a smoother keel. But be careful, if you choose this option then the coloring of the wood wouldn't be different and beautiful, it will be as if you painted the keel brown.
@@JohnsWoodenShips Thanks for your answer John. I appreciate your work mate, this is my first ever wood build, and I am holding back to do the boarding of the hull, I will work out how am gonna do it soon as I have built all the deck stuff so only left with the hull and the masts lol.

@@buddyh42uk Each type of block has a number. The big ones are used at the big masts and usually at the center. The small ones are for everything else. The ones with the wire normally are being used at a point that you have a ring to attach the block to.
