The fact that Orphan of Kos broke her so much that she just straight up said, "No," and beat the game is honestly the most relatable thing in this video.
Going from Bloodborne to Dark Souls 1 is like going from an ecstasy-induced shoe-stealing spree at an abandoned warehouse rave to a Sunday family barbecue in the suburbs.
That moment where she says "isn't this a necessary boss though?" followed by "Then what do you mean that 50% of people haven't gotten past this boss?" really just shows how brutal this game is, even for a Soulsborne game. It's kinda like how on the Steam version of Sekiro only 31.5% of the people who own the game have beaten Sword Saint, Isshin but I guess he is the "final" boss. And that's a global stat.

I never got his motivation but the Nightmare is his doing (via summoning mergo or something) and thus all the rest of the most fucked up state of the city is due to its influence. Surprised that Shen didn’t take AT LEAST two hours in designing Dilfsworth. No one person can create such a majestic, DILF-swooning creature in that short amount of time.
I'm glad that Shen had a lot of fun in this series. However, the thing that cracks me up the most is KT being the mentor when they were once the wide eyed hunter in this game. Now they're so used to the BS and fuckery Bloodborne offers.
The thing about cummmpfk is there's a hunter enemy that spawns on a bridge with swinging axes. But because of the distance, he is in what is called Omission Mode and has no movement or AI.
Bloodborne isn't just my favorite Soulsborne game. It's my favorite game ever. A setting that transitions from monster hunting to Lovecraftian horror while still giving the player the power to fighting back. Trick weapons, creepy enemies, horrifying bosses, awesome music, and excellent level design.Absolutely nothing like it. Story is very well made if you have the patience to listen to lore tellers like Vaatividya.
I played this shit when it first came out and I fell in love immediately. I recently got my PS4 fix (Due to my brother breaking the HDMI port). I got back on and still enjoying it so much and rewatching lore videos. I'm trying to platinum the game.
I think a lot of the difficulty with Kos is that you weren't able to spend time grinding the chalice dungeons. While it's not needed to defeat Kos, the upgrades you get from the dungeons can be very powerful. Like getting a free 25% or more attack boost or granting passive health regen.
Fun fact: because of how the "phase" works, the purple fog that Mergo does that makes copies of herself functions like an invisible explosion that deals no damage and takes up the entire stage. But because of this, you can dodge thru the "attack" with the most precise of timings and skip it entirely!
@@EldenMergo Wait...if Kos can assist its Orphan by summoning lightning...and the recently discovered rollback of the Wetnurse cutscene shows the Wetnurse/Succubus picking up and basically hiding away/absorbing an invisible Mergo...couldn't Mergo have technically participated in the Wetnurse Bossfight without us knowing? Maybe some of the Arcane magic/teleportation/fog is his doing? .... BUT THAT'S _JUST A THEORY!_
Watching shen kill the first 2 bosses while having only died around 8 times really destroys me. I played for like 3 hours yesterday and all I managed to do was get lost and die like 40 times.
The endings being good or bad really depend on your view. There really isn't a "good" or "bad" ending period. The first ending you wake up and go on with your life... which is going to be very short since you're sick. You came seeking Pale Blood to cure yourself of *something* after all. The second ending you essentially become immortal, but are trapped in the dream with only the Doll, the Moon Presence, and any hunter that shows up as company. On the other hand you've freed everyone else from their own nightmare and know that one day someone will step in to take up the dream and set you free too. It's the worst ending for you personally, but you at least put everyone else to rest. The last ending is really only bad if you view being human as special. You pretty much trade you're humanity to become a god. You're really freer then any human would ever be and understand more of the world then any person could ever manage. Even with the inhumane aspect the Great Ones *aren't* evil. Everyone that knows anything about them in game says they're sympathetic in nature and will *try* to help if they can. Key word being try. The whole game is actually them trying to help people and their lack of understanding humans making their help backfire horribly. Presumably you, as a Great One, wouldn't have this flaw since you were born human.
I would like to correct this 1 year old comment The character already got cured of whatever they were sick with when they received the blood transfusion in the start of the game if they were sick at all Paleblood isn't the same thing as the old blood, the old blood is the blood that makes people turn into beasts, cures diseases and injuries Paleblood however seems to be specifically related to the moon presence; meaning the hunter doesn't die from sickness in the first ending, but they still failed their main objective because they didn't confront or meet the Moon presence
Sees Shen absolutely bodying Ludwing: wait, something is not right Sees Shen getting absolutely bodied by all other DLC bosses: it's all coming together
Shenpai I just wanted to say thank you, as I've been suffering from a previous relationship mentally but watching this made want to play Bloodeborne and Bloodeborne has really been helping me getting over her, so I wanted to say thank you, also now I've figured out that I really like the souls born franchise
I swear, Shen's editors are like old timey miners. They dig through a mountain of dirt to find the shiny bits, melt them all down, polish it up and somehow manage to make gold.
I relate to Shen's plight. I killed Ludwig my first try using only one blood vial, but had multiple attempts on the Living Failures, for some reason they were just hitting harder. Maria is a great fight, but her parry windows are the size of a jumbo jet, so I didn't really have problems with her either.

Surprised that Shen didn’t take AT LEAST two hours in designing Dilfsworth. No one person can create such a majestic, DILF-swooning creature in that short amount of time.
Wait until she plays nier automata

I'm glad that Shen had a lot of fun in this series. However, the thing that cracks me up the most is KT being the mentor when they were once the wide eyed hunter in this game. Now they're so used to the BS and fuckery Bloodborne offers.
I'm just glad he's not recommending a Canon run again lol

46:14 this is the very definition of what it means to be a protagonist in a Lovecraftian story.
Couldn’t agree more
I played this shit when it first came out and I fell in love immediately. I recently got my PS4 fix (Due to my brother breaking the HDMI port). I got back on and still enjoying it so much and rewatching lore videos. I'm trying to platinum the game.
The reason I love this game is because of the final boss with Gehrman effectively being a battle between who mercy kills who.
Paleblood Hunt is also very enlightening.
@@sleepysin9821 first and only game on ps4 that ive platinum. Still need to do the dlc quests for the weapons and laurence lmao i love this game

"What do you mean only 50% of people have beaten this boss?"
Hearty chuckles were had.
Two of the best parts are as follows.
1) The bread absorbing the memories of the soup analogy that I somehow understood.
2) The NO Rave.
Every time I eat soup, bread bowl or no bread bowl, that conversation plays in my head, word for word.
You understood that ?! I guess I don’t have enough insight
The bread bowl tastes like the soup because it absorbs the liquid, therefore the memories of the soup are passed onto the bread bowl.
The NO rave?
@@wilcowhiteheart807 Y'know, when Shen kept shouting no and the subtitles flashed different colors.
That's super cool :D
Mergo isn't the Wet Nurse, but yeah that's a pretty cool tip
@@EldenMergo Well, in some interpretations it is Mergo, or at least a manifestation.
@@Anarchomancer That might be true, but it's never explicitly stated
@@EldenMergo Wait...if Kos can assist its Orphan by summoning lightning...and the recently discovered rollback of the Wetnurse cutscene shows the Wetnurse/Succubus picking up and basically hiding away/absorbing an invisible Mergo...couldn't Mergo have technically participated in the Wetnurse Bossfight without us knowing? Maybe some of the Arcane magic/teleportation/fog is his doing?
.... BUT THAT'S _JUST A THEORY!_

WHEN YOU SAID SOON I WASNT EXPECTING THIS SOON I AM OVERCOME WITH JOY
Watching shen kill the first 2 bosses while having only died around 8 times really destroys me. I played for like 3 hours yesterday and all I managed to do was get lost and die like 40 times.
First time I played that game I was up fighting gascoigne from 10pm until 2am
I would like to correct this 1 year old comment
The character already got cured of whatever they were sick with when they received the blood transfusion in the start of the game if they were sick at all
Paleblood isn't the same thing as the old blood, the old blood is the blood that makes people turn into beasts, cures diseases and injuries Paleblood however seems to be specifically related to the moon presence; meaning the hunter doesn't die from sickness in the first ending, but they still failed their main objective because they didn't confront or meet the Moon presence
can we just talk about how cool the thumbnail art looks?
Thank you!!!
I didn't notice it until after finishing the video, but it's slick. Always love that kind of mask :3
Sees Shen absolutely bodying Ludwing: wait, something is not right

I swear, Shen's editors are like old timey miners. They dig through a mountain of dirt to find the shiny bits, melt them all down, polish it up and somehow manage to make gold.
The reaction to the Micolash fight makes me absolutely crack up.

I relate to Shen's plight. I killed Ludwig my first try using only one blood vial, but had multiple attempts on the Living Failures, for some reason they were just hitting harder. Maria is a great fight, but her parry windows are the size of a jumbo jet, so I didn't really have problems with her either.

Going from "I hate this game", to "I love this game" is the true SoulsBorne experience.
For me it was:
DS1 - I like this game -> I LOVE this game
DS2 - I like this game -> I hate this game -> it’s not bad
DS3 - I LOVE THIS GAME -> I LOVE THIS GAME
BB - I HATE this game - I LOVE THIS GAME
For me bloodborne was an instant like. I had trouble getting into dark souls because it was slow and punishing, and encouraged too often patience when i like agressivity. Of course i loved it later on, but bloodborne immediately gave me a feeling of balance : i still had to be careful but i was much more rewarded for being agressive. Not to mention the parry is my favorite in any fromsoft game.
"KT! You're worse than a _Twitch Backseater_ !" I can't believe KT is fucking dead, that was brutal.
Also, gonna remember the echo glyph, yesss....
Lady Maria is straight up one of, if not the best characters fromsoft has put out there.
Shen was on such a roll, ripping through bosses and then Maria said straight-up *No*.
"Death by Milky" one of these deaths is not like the others~

For the record I 100% agree with Shen's version of "The Claw". I just find that way more comfortable
