First, the Lightyear movie comes first. Then the Buzz Lightyear Star Command movie and TV show is next. And then they make the toys of Buzz and Zurg, only adapting them from how they looked in BLOSC. This is all just a theory.

The reason I say this is bc it looks like it has the most accurate color schemes and details from the Zurg suit we see in the movie and best part is it includes an interchangeable blaster arm in addition to the normal arm, which is what I wished the basic 12 inch posable Mattel Lightyear Zurg had
But there's no light gimmick or shoot gimmick. You'll be disappointed. What I hate from their marketing is Every toy has their own special feature. There's no complete feature in one toy. Like mattel makes lightyear with liftoff wing but no laser arm gimmick, takara tomy make laser arm gimmick but no wings and lack of articulation. They makes us to buy ever type of their toy.

The original zurg is better. I dig the transformer look but it doesn't beat the old Darth Vader inspired design. Speaking of which if lightyear is supposed to be star wars in Andy's world, the original zurg design is the best way to go. Unless you're trying to make zurg look like Megatron. OH the irony.

I can’t really choose which Zurg is best, you ask me 1999 Zurg has a lot more design details especially on the head but than again Lightyear Zurg has got a more articulation and more cannon fire on which actually gave me a classic Thanos vibe to the character.
If they do, maybe his new suit will work more like Darth Vader’s suit, rather than working like a Mecha suit, hence the difference in design, with him rebuilding the ion blaster to work more like a handheld weapon that carries ammunition on his back. That’d be cool.

@@todayigrewup you may try taking apart the backside and see about rebuilding it with a spring-loaded revolver (like a nerf gun), and putting in a small air pressure system to launch it through the tube and out of a hollowed out version of the barrels. If you can find it, there’s an older version of Zurg, on which the red button at the top of his ammunition actually functions, and the wheel actually has real balls inside that move around when you press it, so that might be a good toy to start with in figuring out how to do that mod. You may have to build most of it from scratch, but I’m sure the effort will be worth it when you do pull it off. :)

I find both the Zurgs great, mostly because out of all the toy story movies, I now mostly like toy story 2, toy story 4 and Lightyear (along with the other Pixar movies: finding Nemo, cars (definitely my favourite from Pixar), ratatouille, cars 2 (another of my favourites), finding Dory, cars 3, incredibles 2 and onward). I thought it was great to see Zurg (in Lightyear) to be designed like a robot instead of like Darth Vader, but he was still great in toy story 2 which is also why I still like both the original and then the spin-off version of himself. Also out of all the toy story characters (mainly around 2), my favourites are Woody, Mr. Potato head, Mrs. Potato head, the robot, slinky dog, the three aliens, Rex, Hamm, Jessie, Bo peep, Lenny the binoculars, evil emperor Zurg, stinky Pete, marionette Woody, barrel of monkeys, Buzz Lightyear, Bullseye, RC the car, etch a sketch, little green army man and tour guide Barbie (mostly because they were the ones together as McDonalds toys from 1999 (with the potato heads together as one and one alien shown instead of three) which is why they’re now all my favourite from toy story 2).

Pixar made their design differently with zurg and Buzz, because of diffrent world views, but I still love Toy story version of Buzz and Zurg. For me, this Disney store Zurg is the best made Zurg.
