    The past month I’ve contemplated on whether or not I should enlist. My only doubts were my physicality. Most of my life I’ve been overweight and out of shape but for the past couple months I’ve been trying to get in shape and it’s giving me the confidence to enlist even though it’s one of the things I’ve never considered.

    Brothers, I’ve been watching a few videos to learn about today’s Navy to help my son as he begins his journey. I’m a retired UT1(EXW) sailor who sadly misses his career that was cut short at twenty years due to an injury I experienced during my Afghanistan tour of duty. I did go up for chief seven times with great evals and great test scores however they only advanced one sailor or zero advancements during each text cycle. Congratulations on completing your first mission, you both have the right attitude. Good luck and always stay positive, though hard to do sometimes. I see JTsuits has commented as well, though he did not choose the USN as career, he served and completed his mission successfully. Be safe and enjoy the ride...

    I still have my training guide from 2001. Though mine was bigger.
    I also got really sick and all of my wisdom teeth pulled while there, fortunately I was never ASMO'd. I won't say how different Battle Stations was for us, because I don't really know what It's like now. We didn't have any kind of a simulator, so you can imagine how primitive it would have been. The whole experience was the best part of my adult life, so far. And I still get choked up whenever I listen to Lee Greenwood's song.

    The yelling isn't to make you uncomfortable. It's to make you compliant. If you do exactly as you're told, they won't shout at you. The fleet really isn't any different. I worked on the flight deck in the fleet. It's no joke, you will get chewed out if you're not paying attention to detail. The Air Boss, he'll yell at you over the 5mc if you mess around and don't do what's expected of you. Just being completely honest. But, once you get the groove of being a subordinate. The Navy is a cakewalk. That's my advice from my experiences. Was in from '01-'05.
    Also, stay away from dirtbags. They do nothing but fill your head with self-defeating thoughts. It's one of the biggest traps on the Navy. Making you go FTN.

    I am shipping out March 25th, 2021. I initially tried to go the OCS route, but slim pickings because I’m only doing Navy Reserves and since I’m older (34) there’s not much currently available (I would’ve taken any Officer job offered). Before I aged out, I decided to just enlist and go JAG when my 4 years are up. At MEPS I was lucky enough to get the # 1 rate on my list, RP. I will remind myself to post an update after I’m back from BCT, A, & C school.

      Taliboo Williams, boot camp is the easiest (and at times the most boring) time of your career. You will look back once finished and wonder why you were nervous / scared, etc.

      They are personal ones, every division makes them (shirts short and long sleeves and hoodies) your division logo goes on the back.

    When you say you get set back a week does that mean your graduation date changes? What does getting set back mean. And if you get set back and have to work your way to get back up to catch up, how do you do that?

    • @USNAaronPereira
      @USNAaronPereira  5 лет назад

      If you get "ASMO'd" you get set back a week in training and graduate a week late. You get reassigned to a new division that is behind yours.

    • @alyssasalazar7176
      @alyssasalazar7176 5 лет назад +1

      Ashtyn Winkler what he said but also gonna mention you can’t work your way to catch up and graduate when you were originally supposed to. you get a new division and a new graduation date

    • @nalafischer9163
      @nalafischer9163 5 лет назад

      Alyssa, unless you're laterally asmo'ed. Sometimes if you fail something they'll asmo you to a div in your training group that is doing that thing the next day and then you move back to your div if you do pass

    • @alyssasalazar7176
      @alyssasalazar7176 5 лет назад +2

    I'm soo nervous I leave in 5 days 😭 the initial pfa is the only thing scaring me when I first joined dep I was running it was at 20:26 and now my best time is 17:20. Is that okay for females ? I only been running outside and with this Florida humidity makes me feel like I can probably do better on a inside track.

    • @USNAaronPereira
      @USNAaronPereira  5 лет назад

      You need to be running at a pace of 16 minutes minimum. If you are to far off they will send you home. My personal advice only eat egg whites and ham and drink nothing but water. That will help you cut a little bit of weight and you need to run at least 3 miles a day. You can fail the first pfa so dont worry. I failed my first pfa, you just need to be in the ball park of passing it. You will get better throughout bootcamp from pt. You need to do the absolute most right now to not be sent home. Your first week you will not pt at all so keep that into consideration. I wish you the best of luck!

      Don't be fooled by the Inside track. I was running a solid 16 minute run before boot and I about died on the first run with a 1755 run. The air in freedom hall is ass so you'll do shittier than you expect for the first run. Keep training for your run and you should be good. I got a 1430 in my final run and I missed about half of the planned runs.

      Study that guide and practice your push ups, sit ups, and run. They have a DEP test near the beginning that if you pass with an 80 or above on top of passing your initial pfa with a GOOD (you can look up what you need to get that on google) you will get a 2k bonus on top of a meritorious advancement if your not already at E-3. And no you cant get the recruit guide until you arrive at boot unless you get a secondhand copy somehow.
