I don't think they couldn't have picked a better "Bones" if the tried. Karl Urban is perfectly cast. I should know I'm old enough to remember the original on TV. I was in high school in the 60's when a lot of cool shows came on and Star Trek was one of them.
you can tell how real their friendship is when they laugh together remembering Anton and at the same time shed a bit of tears. it's bittersweet, but beautiful..
***** Yeah Karl was supporting John Cho like that in several interviews too, getting attention off him when he was getting tongue tied with emotion, so he is returning the favor.
The fact that John Cho had to jump in to answer a question after like 17 minutes before even being asked one is just sad. Do better press...just do better..
It just saddens me so much during Chris's story about Anton when his eyes are clearly red, then Zoe's voice cracks and her wiping up her tears. The cast had so much love and respect each other, it's hard to accept the fact their youngest and talented fellow had pass away.
Watch John Cho rub Karl Urban's back when he's talking about Anton. I saw earlier interviews with this cast before Anton's passing and they are all so much more animated and happy. They're not bs-ing when they say they loved him and miss him terribley. It's obviously hit them all hard.
It's rare to have a cast with so much love and affection for each other like this, and even the ones who joined later on like Benedict and Sofia did get welcomed with open arms, therefore I have no doubt they are truly one family. Btw, may I ask for that specific interview with the back rub, please?
Zoe Saldana doesn't really speak quite as "soft", her voice is more "sharp" when she speaks, I believe she was just being more relax because she is around all men.
The first trailer of Star Trek is more reflective towards James T. Kirk since it's the music from the first film when young Kirk took his stepfather's car for a joyride. Also the moment with Scotty as he wakes up from his pod and leaps towards the mountain cliff is straight out off the Fast and Furious 6 with Brian O' Connor as he jumps of the the bus and then leaps towards Letty's car.
I think the producers recognize that there is a market for people who are looking for intelligent and well crafted stories, which is why they are creating a spinoff television series.
One comment I found fascinating here was when they were discussing women's changing roles in the world and in Star Trek. They weren't very progressive back in the sixties in TOS--and Pegg jumped in to say that it wasn't because Roddenberry didn't want them to be, it was because they were constrained by the era. I have to disagree strongly with this statement. Roddenberry wrote a script called Turnabout Intruder (last episode of the original series) where a woman stole Kirk's body so that she could captain the Enterprise. It was pointed out that women could NOT command starships in Star Fleet. Astronaut Mae Jamison, a life time Star Trek fan, said that was the one aspect that she could never get behind and seemed so out of place in the forward thinking show. Roddenberry later admitted that he wrote the ep making a point, and did so with loaded dice--and admitted he was wrong. So, in other words, full genius did not spring full blown even from the brow of Roddenberry.
I was mixed on the film. Its good, but forgettable (i liked Into Darkness more, even if the whole Khan twist was obvious) Beastie boys in IMAX tho, definitely a highlight :)
Didn't actually expect spoilers on this panel, but unlike most people I'm alright with it. Might wanna add that in the title or description etc since its another week before the movie comes out. Just sayin :)
Thanks, Lord LOC, have done. Would normally have done so straight away but hadn't taken them in properly in our mad rush to get to airport for Comic Con! :-)
If Simon Pegg can't write a good Star Trek movie, then there is *NO HOPE* for any of us to apply our standards and tastes as fans and hope for them to be met. The Hollywood system is so corporate and so massive and hard to understand, every good franchise movie, like Star Trek or anything else will feel like pure chance. Not somebody growing up as a fan and becoming powerful enough to make a good Star Trek movie, with a fan's perspective on things. But then there's millions of different opinions and the compromises that people are probably forced to make with the greedy money-making bastards who make it all possible. So the truth is probably so complicated it'll make my brain hurt. So maybe it is random chance.
In the beginning, I haaaaated JJ and all new Star Trek. And then....begrudgingly,i actually watched the JJ movies. They grew on me. I swore I'd never watch Discovery and Picard. Very recently I watched Picard season 2. Must say I did enjoy it. But. I'm pretty sure I never ever will watch Discovery.
Agreed about Pegg's comments about destroying the Enterprise.. been there, done that. Although the movie worked well it was a shame we had to repeat this overused Trek story trait..
Chris is only 9 years older than yelchin, same age difference of chris and urban. i don't think urban treats chris as a kid nor does chris see urban as someone so much older than himself
What is the point here? Anton was 17 years old when they started working together and is the youngest of the cast...or was. Maybe one of the reasons why they're all so devastated by his loss.
kerfuffle what's the point here? chris was only 26 years old when they started working together and is the 2nd youngest in the cast...or was. maybe one of the reasons why they're all so devastated by his loss.
Am I the only one getting really irritated that whenever this guy starts naming episodes everyone laughs at him? If it's so mockable to know Star Trek, none of them should be there.

Agree!
i love the way he speaks as bones, kinda like how american actors sound in old movies .
YEP!
judy valencia i
Still sad that Anton Yelchin is no longer with us 😔 but glad everyone was being professional and level headed during this.
you can tell how real their friendship is when they laugh together remembering Anton and at the same time shed a bit of tears. it's bittersweet, but beautiful..
Love this cast!!! Karl Urban made me tear up with how he was talking about Anton. SO freaking sad.
***** Yeah Karl was supporting John Cho like that in several interviews too, getting attention off him when he was getting tongue tied with emotion, so he is returning the favor.
Aww, you're so cute. "The Asian guy". How adorbs.
The fact that John Cho had to jump in to answer a question after like 17 minutes before even being asked one is just sad. Do better press...just do better..
i felt so bad ://
Bones and Spock's relationship was spot on. They are salt-mates true and true.
I loved Beyond so much, especially the Bones-Spock interaction. Best movie of the 3 AOS films, and the most like TOS. And I love this cast together.

Kiến Phương Ngô I think it's too late for the answer(or you already found), it's on this video. Right before Chris talked about Anton. :)
Kiến Phương Ngô. At 21:09 😢
The actor that plays Bones, he could also play William Riker.
Madison Badger what Karl urban
agreed
I am in love with Zoe Saldana's voice!
Yea man... she's boss! :)

This exact jump was made by Kirk in the first Star Trek (2009) which came before FF6.
Николай Ильин I will have to watch the first movie again now.
Idk why, but I find Cho to be very handsome, is that just me?
I love Karl's accent
30:21 my favorite part! So love Chris!

Scott Mantz was the perfect person to do this panel

Disagree.
It's Scott fucking Mantz! Perfect person to moderate
I wonder if the actor's really care , definitely Simon is in line with the Star trek spirit.
Karl is a massive fan of Star Trek and Bones. Chris and Zach not so much.

uhura and spock broke up?!!!!!!!
If you're a real Trekkie, recognizing "966" is like breathing. Nothing to it.
Wow didn't know eomer was British/Australian
He isn't. He's Kiwi (New Zealand).
The - highly *suggestive* at best - Sulu moment already went by like much ado about nothing.
Which is exactly how someone's sexuality should be viewed: No big deal. What is, is. Which is why I am so happy with the way they handled it.
yeah they don't need to start having sex, just a simple thing showing him hugging is daughter and his husband and going home
Scott Fucking Mantz!!!
Chris is only 9 years older than yelchin, same age difference of chris and urban. i don't think urban treats chris as a kid nor does chris see urban as someone so much older than himself

That is how friendship should work. For everyone. Age shouldn't matter.

😄2
What is the social message....''wise up and join white males...go into the future.
I cannot tolerate the girl who portrays uhura.
Lame
Solid rebuttal.
"Beyond" is the absolute worst Star Trek movie ever made (with Kirk as the captain). An an absolute, dismissible piece of trite, cliche garbage
