We just returned from Switzerland to Oklahoma and spent our last few days in Lucerne. I liked the town more than I expected too. I think I liked the part of town across the river from Old town and away from the lake. It had a Montmarte vide and I wish my camera battery had not died on me. Nothing but iPhone pics from the area. We had Fondue in French section earlier in the trip and had some overpriced in the same spot as you. I was pleased to see young people play the long horn as the players I encountered were much older. It is so special to encounter them that I hope it does not disappear.

This video is truly informative! I am also planning for a day trip to Lucerne in May. I would put these attractions in my list 🙂

Halo..did you use public transport around lucerne? Or just walk around?
Also does the ride that goes up to Chateau Gutsch free?

We just walked around within the central area on our short visit. The Chateau Gutsch funicular is not free: It costs EUR 2.50 each way, or can be covered by certain public transit tickets/passes.

Great video! Any fee for the Chateau Gutsch visit and ride up and down?

Hi! There is no entry fee to the hotel. Of course you'll pay for any food or drink you may get. The funicular is part of the city fare system or costs CHF 2.50 each way on its own.

how were the temps in Sept in Lucerne

Temps were pleasant when we visited, maybe 73F/23C during the day and then cooling off at night. We were lucky to have plenty of sun, too. Definitely check the forecast close to your visit to be sure!

Even on the days when it rained, it didn’t last very long! A shower would come through and then the day would be beautiful again. It never really stayed rainy all day.
