1:40 - there was nothing better than getting the Sears Wishbook in the mail back in these days and going through it 40 times and circling what you wanted and making lists. And then not getting certain things that you asked for 5 years in a row
Promo For “The Sting”- Scott Joplin’s “The Entertainer” is an interesting music choice for this promo, considering the serious nature of the show being promoted.
8:06 - Given the look of this party, and the fact it’s the 80s, I have a hunch some illegal substances was being passed around alongside the peanut butter…
“Is this the horse’s inner monologue?” HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA 2:30
There's Beatrice! Just like what I said a few nights ago, at least PILLSBURY didn't do that at the end of each commercial when they owned everything in the 70s! Besides food Beatrice also owned Samsonite luggage and Rusty Jones rust protection! You couldn't go ANYWHERE on TV without hearing that! BEATRICE, UNTIL ALL ARE ONE.
Dune-the David Lynch and SciFi Channel adaptations both have their charms, but Denis Villeneuve's version is the better one in terms of visuals Webster-he should've really saved the cafe by arranging to air the Rams v.49ers game on a projection screen TV 😂 Ivory Shampoo and Conditioner-this ad looks like it could be a proof of concept for a Mr.Ed revival Malibu-4:30 Husband:"Well then why did we move here in the first place???" Peter Pan Peanut Butter-that "We're Beatrice" quote creeped me out after a while.. still remember that Wesson ad where Florence Henderson said it at the very end Milk-with "Great Value Adam Ant"😆 ABC News Brief-r.i.p William Schroeder
0:07 - The Scrooge here is no comparison to the Honey Nut Cheerios one. Now, that guy is who I think of when I think Scrooge.
2:27 Those early Ivory Shampoo ads always had that creepy male voice. It felt like some guy was stalking those women.
Kodak Kodacolor VR Disc Film- Apparently, it was “Big Hat” Day in the Baby Photography Studio when they filmed this commercial.
That mcnugget commercial made me want to grow up and serve 20 packs my parties one day.
0:39 - Dune comes to the screen…Now wait another 37 years for a decent adaptation.

Incredible set. This was my fiancé’s first Christmas. Christmases in the 80s just seemed way more magical than now.
Gotta love how the milk commercial is using their sound alike rendition of Goody Two Shoes by Adam Ant. Still a fun commercial too.

"The Entertainer" was the theme song to the movie, and absolutely fits with the promo. "The Sting" is also not a serious movie, it's a comedy.
The woman in the ivory shampoo commercial was also in an episode of Three’s Company. She does have fabulous hair.
Mickie and Maude was my first experience with Dudley Moore. Fun to see a trailer.

04:25 I know William Atherton has done a lot of bit parts in movies and shows but will always think of him in "Real Genius" and the popcorn scene

While I love all of the Kodak Disc ads, they’re super cute, my mom had one and I don’t think she thought it was that great.
Great stuff, thanks.
Duracell Batteries- The sound of all the toys playing the drums together in this commercial would certainly get annoying fast, I would imagine.
I always thought commercials for milk were weird. I never thought NOT drinking it was an option as a kid.
Peter Thomas (Forensic Files guy) is the narrator of the Sears ad.

I miss the non plastic peanut butter jars
Had a horrifying thought:
09:08 all the 50s nostalgia targeted at young people then is the same as the kids today liking stuff from the 90s.

Ill still take the 80's lynch Dune over the modern garbage any day.
