Such a great adventure I'm having on this journey with you Jason. That bVI bVII I cadance is so cool and suprising. You are by far the most interesting piano teacher on RUclips. Every other advanced teacher I've found is bogged down in Jazz but you keep it open with powerful music that defies such easy categories. Thank you.
Hi Daniel! Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to hear that you're enjoying the journey thus far and finding the lessons helpful. I'm glad you find the "EPIC" 🤘🏽 cadence interesting and surprising - it's definitely one of my favorites! I'm also thrilled to hear that you find my approach to teaching piano refreshing and unique. I'm passionate about exploring all genres of music and incorporating diverse styles into my lessons. I believe that music is a powerful form of self-expression and that there's something to be learned from every genre, not just jazz. Thank you for your support and enthusiasm. Keep up the great work and let's keep exploring the limitless possibilities of music! Best regards, Jason
Music is a adventure sometimes the way its presented in books it very overwhelming and its looks more like work then enjoyment . I really like the way you make it exciting and fun . You create an excellent environment I really what to thank you.
i don't even own a midi keyboard, yet I always watch your videos, I'm a huge fan Jason, your teachings are just so clear and informative. I cant wait to be able to practice once I'm able to afford one.
Jason you have an amazingly easy and simple way of explaining music. I regularly watch your videos, especially the longer streams and have learned more from you than from conventional teachers or other RUclips instructors. Keep up the great teaching work and spreading the joy of music throughout the world. :)
Hey Jason , at 44:12 Elton John used the same progression to end “Don’t let the sun go down . In the key of C major Moving from A flat to B flat and then to C. Epic !!! Thanks for this

StudioLogic SL990 into Roland JV1080. Stereo into PA for live, or Focus Rite interface to DAW. Or run SL990 via midi cables into Focus Rote to trigger Lounge Lizard vst/standalone for Wurly or Rhodes sounds!
@@nathanielschool The SL990 is good at being a piano, the JV1080 is studio quality sound module...the best of both worlds! Too many onboard keyboard sounds so cheezey! Plus I can trigger the JV1080 using my Godin guitar with midi or even my Yamaha WX11 wind controller!
I just thought of of an example of an 'Epic' cadence, Freddie Mercury and Montserrat Caballé, , 'Barcelona', during the line ''Wish my dream would never go away''. I think it contains this cadence.
(1)Are you saying that vi-scale degree is the tonic as I-scale degree? Why? (2) I didn't get well the Functional harmony when it comes to use such way of writing as chord progressions.
1) The 6 is the Relative Minor of the 1. They share the share key signature. Example - G major & E minor 2) Please watch this lesson which explains the concept in detail: ruclips.net/video/UEnnTTO0fro/видео.html and this one as well: ruclips.net/video/mxVzktPGxaY/видео.html
Looking at this video finally clarified for me what cadences are all about and why I want to master this important bit of music theory. Thanks again for sharing these nuggets of musical wisdom in such an approachable way 👍🏽🎶
Eb (VIb) and Bb (IIIb) in this context were used as Borrowed chords with respect to the parallel minor key. Forbidden Cadence was an unofficial (rather joking) way so introducing the I-V-vi-IV which is rather cheesy 🧀
In theory, all major scales are identical (isomorphic) but, in practice, when you put your hands on (or you lips) in real instrument, the thing changes. Then E flat major and C major are different beasts.

This is a lot more detailed in terms of just CADENCES: ruclips.net/video/2CZdVaVk6BY/видео.html
Didnt finish answering how to get chords out of a melody....
That was not part of this video
Why are you saying "E flat and B flat forbidden Cadences" while they are used and give a good resolution?
Eb (VIb) and Bb (IIIb) in this context were used as Borrowed chords with respect to the parallel minor key. Forbidden Cadence was an unofficial (rather joking) way so introducing the I-V-vi-IV which is rather cheesy 🧀
