  • Hello friends and family. I am sorry for the delay in my next video but this one took a little time. This video is of me refinishing my 336 Marlin. I purchased this last fall for a decent price with the thought of refinishing it over the winter. With fuel prices and Covid and everything else going on this took longer than I thought it would. I also had to order the DuraCoate in "Tactical black" and then wait for the weather to warm up enough to be able to stain the stocks and apply the DuraCoate to the metalwork of the rifle. I am very pleased with how it turned out. I wanted a satin finish to the stock and the rifle and it is perfect. Thank you all so much for watching. God Bless and Good Hunting! Maine North Woods Hunter (Shane)

    Wow that looks great. I had a 336 in the 70’s and wish I kept it.

      Thank you. I need a couple of different deer rifles to suit the different places I hunt. I bought this 336 in pretty rough shape for a decent price. Now she is looking great. Thank you so much for watching.

    I have a 336 with a 4X Bushnell Scopechief IV with a flip mount. It’s awesome.

      They are great guns. The trigger on my Marlin 336 is the best I have ever had on any lever gun.

    Been thinking about doing the same thing to a family pass down 336 and slapping a recoil pad on it for the girls.

    Just picked up a .444 and the barrel on it looks like a 98 year old sewer pipe. The finish is jacked up and the wood is scratched, but worst of all, the bullseye is missing! Be a fun project Gun for sure 😂

      Sounds like a great winter project. Good Luck! My brother just dropped off an old Stevens 16 gauge single shot he asked me to re-finish, so I have a small project as well. Thank you for watching!

    That rifle turned out beautiful very great video I want to do the same to my Marin I was just curious you didn’t have to sand the blueing or anything like that? Just clean it and spray?

    • @mainenorthwoodshunter3265
      @mainenorthwoodshunter3265  6 месяцев назад +2

      I did sand it with fine steel wool. Then the product I purchased also came with a degreaser cleaner that I used, then I sprayed it in multiple light coats and the last a heavier coat for the finished result. Thank you for watching!

    Did you have any problems with not removing the spring and trigger assembly and paining it? Have an ole 1983 336 I’m fixing to re paint and just wondering how far i need to safely break it down for paint. Thanks

      I left the trigger assembly alone. All of that looked fine so I cleaned it real well and oiled it up when I put it back together

      I recently made a new video of a year later after hunting with it. The only place the finish has come off is the loading gate. Nothing seems to work there because you are loading a rimmed cartridge. I would definitely use it again.

      It has done very well. I did do another video of the 1 year review this past year. I would certainly use the stuff again. Thank you so much for watching!
