13 years later and I keep coming back. So chaotic, deliberate, and relaxed at the same time. My dude uppercuts a cymbal cause he is so locked in. Masterclass 🙏
HOW were you already THIS good THIS long ago. Haha - this is such a "kitchen sink" track, and overall monument of a song. What a dynamic, musical, perfect ....and absurdly difficult drum composition. So inspired. Wow, Travis & Pete.
This video still holds up nearly 8 years later. Feels like days ago I was in the band room being put onto this. Getting older faster... ahhhhhhhh.... well, soon I'll have money to book Travis / Pete. :)
I have a recording of 2:44 - 3:14 or so that I use as my alarm clock.... man... if that doesn't wake you up in the morning, then nothing will! haha, f'ing sweet music!
Travis, you are absolutely my inspiration for anything percussion. You have such a unique style that takes the whole idea of drumset and throws it out the window. You are hands down my hero and will always look up to you, musically. Thanks for everything you've done.
I'll never stop comin back to this one. Despite being so chaotic and frantic every single note has a purpose and is played so deliberately. Happy just to be alive to witness something this fucking nuts is being accomplished.
most amazing drummer i have ever seen in my life. i love your work with all my heart and can't even comprehend some of the parts in this composition. much love Mr. Orbin.
@everyone Thank you all so very much for your incredibly kind words! This tune -- and the other Petey P tune -- kicked my ass left and right for a bit; training to play them encompassed much of my life for 2 - 2.5 weeks.
Thank you kindly! This is still the most difficult tune I've ever tracked, but I've got a fire in me at present that yearns to outclass this performance. Stay tuned for utmost 'drum masochism', heh.
I cannot get over how absolutely insane this music is! I love how you incorperate the open close hi hat into the beat, and the sound of the song. Whenever someone mentions perfection, this video comes to mind. Cannot get any better. You are a legend Mr Orbin. And will be one of the greats.
Holy crap!!! I did not realize how extremely amazing this song was (even after having bought it) until I went to Pete's myspace page and looked at the info for the song. This guy is a complete, crazy genius!!!
I've seen this video hundreds of times and I can't get over how absolutely incredible you are! You need to be more recognized than you are! I've watched thousands of drum videos and I've never been so amazed at how phenomenal, technical, and creative you are! Meeting you is on my bucket list! Your my inspiration Mr Orbin. @shaftninja
This kicks the hell out of anything dream theater. anything prog metal/rock for that matter! Thank you so much for your inspiration. I have a new priority in life. Become as talented on the drums as you are!
Travis, next time, you should share a video of one of your drum solo. Just a rehearsing solo, to show us what kind of trick you got while improvising. Nothing written, just pure spontaneity! I'd like to see that!
This song is the epitome of music mechanics and it's process.. Unreal. Judging on what I read, the concept being nature? With the natural number of e, and the whole Solar system idea just blew me away.
Quick little public service announcement for all of Travis' fans -- do yourself a favour and buy the isolated drum take of Bugz right now. No disrespect to Pete P at all, but I never realised how nuanced the drum part to this song was because of the music. The fills have much more clarity and seem somehow more amazing when you can hear every single note. I seriously have a whole new level of appreciation for Travis' playing on this tune whenever I watch the iso version.
everything about this from the feel to the technical aspects makes me aspire to greatness. thanks for posting these videos! been a great help with my technique
No, the big outro section features the tempo change. Linear tempo increase means that the tempo is increasing fractionally in real time, not by a quantifiable amount every bar.
@arthurlgoodman Agreed He will definitely have some signature sticks soon. That will be sweet In a year or two he will be all over the map (I dont see how he isnt already) Travis is the best and a great guy! Thanks for everything!
god when ever i come to your channel to see the new vids i always have to watch this one again and again, this one is definitely up there with your most intricate playing. mind blowing really, this is beyond comprehension for me haha
Dude, Travis, you are such a rarity! I stumbled on you when I was researching about TRX cymbals and can not stop watching you. I play all kinds of metal, and psychobilly and you are what I call an instant inspiration. When I saw what this man is doing with his right foot, it is obvious expertise in a manner that everyone can see how it can be done, and also, your kit organization is so insane and so logical. Great stuff man! Just keep on doing awesome!
my mind is beyond blown from your playing and knowledge of music. this is another level of drumming, too good for words man. btw if youre ever bored or have time, a cover of a dillinger escape plan song or BTBAM song would be bad ass.
@spacitydrummer4JC Much like the correspondence between Hayato and I, after Pete sent me demos I composed my own parts and sent him MIDI files to convey my ideas. We weren't in the same room with one another until he flew down to Maryland :)
hey man i just wanted to say i really dig the stuff your doing. as a third year percussion major i was on the verge of getting burned out. watching this stuff inspired me to get back in the practice room. i really appreciate it man!
You've gotta be kidding me....mind blowing. How playing anything else at this point doesn't just put you to sleep with its ease I'll never understand, haha. Watching this makes me understand how something like Zyglrox is just another song to you:)
If it's planned ahead of time, yep - always. I like having that collaborative aspect in place, dialing in the parts so it's more aligned with everyone's vision. I've had to make amends, of course! Nothing too serious, though. It's very hard and creatively taxing, but enjoyable.
@StrawBump Hey, I found what that dude was talking about, hehe. It's on Thomas Pridgen's facebook. He's puts a lot of stuff up so it's like way down his wall.
@Dark0men yea i set up my drums similar to this the other day and it was awkward at first, but as soon as i got comfortable with it my fills and ideas came to life in a whole new context. it was kinda odd in a refreshing way
13 years later and I keep coming back. So chaotic, deliberate, and relaxed at the same time. My dude uppercuts a cymbal cause he is so locked in. Masterclass 🙏
Regardless, I'm gonna keep doing what I do and as long as I've an audience I'll keep posting the videos. Thanks again for your support!
First saw this video 4 years ago, still never fails to baffle and amazing me...also...THAT SNARE.
+ChewwyCaster Thankya kindly :)
This is the sickest fucking thing I've ever had the pleasure to witness!!!
Hogan Gammons Haha, cheers!
Best drumz ever!

After reading the lyrics, the last two minutes brought tears to my eyes.
@everyone
Thank you all so very much for your incredibly kind words! This tune -- and the other Petey P tune -- kicked my ass left and right for a bit; training to play them encompassed much of my life for 2 - 2.5 weeks.
That was the most insane thing I have ever witnessed performed on a drum set.
"The song kicks ass and that's what matters."
Thank you kindly! This is still the most difficult tune I've ever tracked, but I've got a fire in me at present that yearns to outclass this performance. Stay tuned for utmost 'drum masochism', heh.
CLEARLY the best session he's worked on!
This song is just insane, and in a good way. Incredible playing and a very interesting composition, I loved it!
I love how this song has elements from all sorts of genre's and still tie them together perfectly.
YES!!!!!!!!! This is incredible. I expected nothing less from one of my favorite drummers of all time!
I cannot get over how absolutely insane this music is! I love how you incorperate the open close hi hat into the beat, and the sound of the song. Whenever someone mentions perfection, this video comes to mind. Cannot get any better. You are a legend Mr Orbin. And will be one of the greats.
Incredible drumming. Such a diverse song. I don't think I've ever heard anything like it.
Holy crap!!! I did not realize how extremely amazing this song was (even after having bought it) until I went to Pete's myspace page and looked at the info for the song. This guy is a complete, crazy genius!!!

I keep coming back because holy shit... it's perfect.
Pete Peterson EP is NECESSARY. Bring it on.
of all the stuff you've done, this is still my absolute favourite.
so much love.

This is incredible. Period. No other words to describe what has just happened. You are the essence of incredible, how does it feel?
The HD! It does nothing!
Great playing!

Que batera! Otimo trabalho com a leitura de partitura.Muito criativo!!!
I can't stop watching this video!! Absolutely amazing drumming!!
wow travis this is unbelievable! I have never heard anything like this before, I hope more is coming. This is just...wow.
This song is the epitome of music mechanics and it's process.. Unreal. Judging on what I read, the concept being nature? With the natural number of e, and the whole Solar system idea just blew me away.
This is a masterpiece.
wow..this song is amazing
JEEEEEEEEEEEEEZES! Wild music! Awesome travis!
This song is so darn cool.
Can't get enough of this. It's freakin insane!

Amazing playing and equally amazing drum sound and setup.

@everyone
The video quality is not poor, it's merely still processing. Thank you for your kind words thus far!
i'm in love.
DUDE!!! WOW!!! I literally have to get up off the floor!!! Just... WOW!!!
Complete genius.
WTF! Such an epic song with epic drumming.
LEGENDARY
Incredible.
Whoa. This is a hell of a track.
Man you are breath taking. I am going to practice even harder than normal because you have totally inspired me. Thank you.
Thanks a ton, I figured as much, but I wanted to be certain. I appreciate you taking the time to respond, I imagine it can be difficult.
You've blended it so perfectly together, can't even notice, that it's made of several videos without a closer look. Sick playing!! (y)
sweet job Travis. rock on!
This is the craziest thing I've ever listened to....I love it! Great playing to a bonkers song haha!!
2:57, holy crap...
3:13, nice below the belt cymbal smash. Too perfect in entirety.
@arthurlgoodman
Agreed
He will definitely have some signature sticks soon. That will be sweet
In a year or two he will be all over the map (I dont see how he isnt already)

this is some of the most unreal drumming I've ever seen. excellent work man!
Really truly amazing music!

God damn, Pete is the king of underground prog.
Very informative. Thanks for posting!
my mind is blown.
my mind is beyond blown from your playing and knowledge of music. this is another level of drumming, too good for words man. btw if youre ever bored or have time, a cover of a dillinger escape plan song or BTBAM song would be bad ass.
This is such a sick kit set up.
@spacitydrummer4JC

lovin the blues dude...you are a god.
The change in 1:05 always gets me. It's amazing
Greetings from Colombia :)
incredible.
What the hell did I just witness? That was absolutely awesome. Loving the minimalist kit- not all metal drummers need double bass 16 tom setups :)
You are a brilliant drummer.
hey man i just wanted to say i really dig the stuff your doing. as a third year percussion major i was on the verge of getting burned out. watching this stuff inspired me to get back in the practice room. i really appreciate it man!

Haha, thanks for watching. "Zyglrox" is certainly not just "another song", but this definitely trumps it in difficulty.
I applaud you sir. Sterling work!
This song is fucking AMAZING. Congrats to you travis and Pete Peterson, I am thoroughly fucking impressed.
This song is so addicting
Dude, 3:12 might've been one of the most awesome things I've seen in my life.
the hell.. hands down to orbin.. love the music too.
Simply Epic! it just sticks in your head after listening to it about twice :)
Dude...i think you are my new fav drummer!....
It's on both iTunes and Bandcamp.
This is awesome! Reminds me a bit of Mr. Bungle.
woah, this is so awesome.
holy shit, i can't stop watching this video, incredible
I gotta say it..... mr. bungle influence? especially the end. reminds me of merry go bye bye. Really good.
i just waent back to school last week and for my "what did you do over summer break?' essay, i wrote about watching travis all of the time haha.
If it's planned ahead of time, yep - always. I like having that collaborative aspect in place, dialing in the parts so it's more aligned with everyone's vision. I've had to make amends, of course! Nothing too serious, though.
