"Jerk merging" - perfect term for it. Sweet looking ride. This is from that time period where you could actually see the all around the engine and get to everything.
Always had a soft spot for Wildcats, both my father and uncle had '63 hardtops. This '64 has to be one of the most beautiful examples I have ever seen. FYI , when new, that storage bin in the console had a sticker inside that said Litter Box. Thanks for posting this rolling work of art.
Bill, you’ve delivered your truest self in this video. I forgot my own miseries for 40 minutes. Thanks for the dose of humor. Keep up the great work and that whisky therapy!
What an absolutely classy boat that Wild “thing” Cat is. I love how the front bumper wraps around to the front of the front wheels, which are absolutely gorgeous. The Canadians are probably fighting to get a ride in that beautiful black interior. Wow, that car was made back when convertibles were made to be parade queens. I can just imagine a beautiful blond sitting on the boot. Great video as always Bill. Thanks for the entertainment.
@curbozerboomer1773 That goes without saying. Times change, and things change. There's nothing wrong with liking style that was a sign of the times. I'm well aware, that in an accident, these cars would crumple around you like an aluminum can.
I love the 'turn signal philosophy' and the description of some contemporary drivers :) The car is very stylish, for sure! Greetings to everyone from Europe, Slovakia!
My parents bought a 1964 Buick Electra, same year I graduated high school. It was a four-door sedan, same blue as this car, white painted top, factory, blue brocade upholstery. A base model it had wind up windows and seats like a LeSabre. A terrific car, still vividly remember it. It was regularly driven at 80 mph, full load, a/c, bias ply tires, drum brakes, only two seat belts in the front. When they bought it, I was bitterly disappointed that they didn't chose an Avanti or a Riviera. First year for turbo hydramatic.
That turbo-hydro was a big improvement, over Buick's Dynaflow transmission...I had a 59 Buick with the Dynaflow, it was a very smooth, quiet transmission, but somewhat sluggish off the line!
What a beauty. I can’t get over all the chrome on that car and it seemed to be all metal on the interior. Even the vent pulls were chrome. What I wouldn’t give for that gorgeous blue Buick
@motomuso - re: "so beautiful" = yeahhh ... November 2016 when Donald J.Trump defeated Hillary ... who failed to "cheat" enough to win!! Beauty Indeed!!
Yup...a couple of girls that "got away"! One of them married a friend of mine..but I took some sick satisfaction, when they got divorced, a few years later!
Regarding the speed buzzer, there might be an issue between where it looks like where you set it and goes off. The minimum is somewhere between 20-30. Our neighbor had a 64 Wildcat hardtop in the early 70's and my sister would dial it down just to piss her off when she was driving around town. My 89 Riviera had one that you could program through the touch screen CRT. I kept mine at the max setting of 85. When it went off I would just get a nasty look from my wife.
LOVE IT. my favorite old school. saw 1 for the first time 10 yrs ago just like it in Seattle . was always just park at the curb it never moved. still sitting there .
Bought mine in 1970 from my buddies Dad who worked at the bank as repozesser. Triple black convertible. Full power 401 nailhead. Automatic. I wished I would have saved it.
She's beautiful! The only thing I was scratching my head over was the gas door brightwork. It sounded like you were a little unsure about it also. I wouldn't want to draw attention to the gas door. A few years prior GM went to great lengths to hide the fuel fill location & a few years later hid it again behind the licence plate on most models.
My friends dad had a hardtop, same color. It became a backyard couch and table once he stopped driving it. I never understood why he stopped driving it, but it sat for all of our school years.
Thank you Bill. The Wildcat was the performance version of the le sabre. Checking that box got you the 401 nailhead or in '67 the 430 then lastly the 455.
Dad bought his first new car--a 1967 Wildcat...430ci, 360hp...0-60 in 7.8 seconds...not bad for a car that had to weigh around two tons!...I got laid for the first time in that car...did not have to move to the back seat..lotsa room up front!....and that vehicle lasted 22 years, and 320,000 miles, before some drunk hit it and bent the frame...transmission, and the engine, never needed major work--just two sets of U-joints...we can all be proud of the autos that the USA cranked out back in the day!
That was an excellent video that brought back a lot of memories for me. One of my good friends owned a 1963 Wildcat convertible, loaded with every available option and triple black to boot. One gorgeous automobile! We did a lot of Friday night cruising in that car. I had a 1963 Old Ninety Eight Luxury Sport Coupe which, though much different, had the same basic center console. I really liked the Reverse gear below Low gear especially when rocking the car out of snow. Unfortunately government regulations did away with that. Thanks for all your efforts.
In 95 I bought a (barn find) 72k 403 4 door Wildcat for $700. From the original owners son. Fixed the leaking brake lines and drove it the next day. Lost it in an apartment move before grabbing it.... Had the original custom key and all docs. Same color. So many cars..... 💙💙💙😭
Bill you are a gentleman, a scholar, and a fucking amazing guy. You are keeping me sane with all my fuck ups and crippling well ya shit….. Please keep posting frequently and DO NOT Fucking change my friend Thank You!!!!!
Has to be one of the most beautiful cars that you have shown us. My aunt from Massachusetts brought one of these with her when she visited us in Bridgewater NS circa 1968. I loved it then and I love it now. Mary's husband Peter.
The spider was a spinybacked orbweaver beneficial to insect control and not considered dangerous. The one you filmed was probably a female 3/8 of an inch in size as the males are much smaller at 1/16th to 1/8th of an inch in size and much harder to notice.
I find large Buicks of '63-4 more striking and 'of a whole' than those of '65-6 - the reverse of Chev, Olds & Pontiac products. Buick got its mojo back with the 1977-70 "Every Inch a Buick" admin-espoused philosophy.
That grill detail is great--better than the 63, but the 63 full sized Pontiac grill is better than the 64's. Also in 1964 Disneyland was really hitting it's stride, now it sucks. Even the color of the Wildcat is great. If you ever make it to the LA area we have a car you might like to see. At 19:22 my dad had a Starfire Just like that, color and everything. Love the spider.
if you occasionally massage your private🍌 friend, the day is often more calm and carefree...a harmless suggestion?? always a great car show, and appreciate many of the cars you shared. at 62 it has been exciting to live when real cars were all around, instead of suv craze
In 1962 the Wildcat was a trim option on a 1962 Invicta 2 door hardtop. They only made 2000. But the most rare Wildcat would be the 1966 Wildcat GranSport. They only made a few hundred of those. Maybe a couple dozen exist today.
You certainly COULD get the Wildcat 465 (the 425 cid) in a 1963 Riviera. In 1964 and 1966 the 425 was standard in the Riviera, optional in 1963 and 1965.
Great looking Buick. That transmission could be the Super Turbine (2 speed with a switch-pitch torque converter). Those Mopars at the cancelled Sarasota auction definitely caught my interest, too. Hope you can land a few of them.
I'm fairly certain they didn't use the Super Turbine 300 2-speed with the nailhead engines - it was used with the V6s and small block 300 V8. This would have had the Super Turbine 400 3-speed (Buick's name for the TH400 that also had the nailhead-specific bellhousing bolt pattern).
@@cdglasser Ah, ok, makes sense. A friend had a 65 Olds Jetstar with a 330 V8 and that had the Jetaway 2 speed transmission (same as the Super Turbine 200 if I'm not mistaken).
WOW Bill, great video (as usual)! What a classic car I would love to have in my garage. Wish you weren’t auctioning with buyer premium of 13% on top of your premium.
Hey Bill, I sent you a care package in the mail.Hint--- It will help combat covid such as you have been doing .You are on a roll with Buicks.PLEASE do a video of the candy apple red Riviera in your friend Penelopes garage.Thank you you rock.
Come on Bill!!! You MUST hang on to SOMEthing of all of these wonderful cars that come into your life... Snag this Wildcat for yourself for the fucking future! It would be criminal to not have anything left to show for all of it.

Love the way you add some humour to your videos. Great work!

American cars from early to mid-60's are some of the finest designed machines.
They would never stand as many duty cycles as a modern car. A real gas hog
With that 2 speed tyranny.

Perfect timing Bill, Just settling in for the evening. Minus 1 here tonight ! You would love it !!
All the very best from Bournemouth
Thanks Bill, just in time for my late lunch break
The spider part made me relief myself in my underware.
Beautiful! Style for days! We'll never see stylish vehicles like these ever again.
Never.
I regret that too...but these older cars were not crashworthy vehicles at all!...Safety is preferable to looks.
@curbozerboomer1773 That goes without saying. Times change, and things change. There's nothing wrong with liking style that was a sign of the times. I'm well aware, that in an accident, these cars would crumple around you like an aluminum can.
Gorgeous Wildcat 🔥🔥🔥
I love the 'turn signal philosophy' and the description of some contemporary drivers :)
The car is very stylish, for sure!
Greetings to everyone from Europe, Slovakia!
That's my dream car. My dad used to get a new Buick every 3-4 years. That's first car I ever rode in.
Of all of your videos I think this is the most beautiful car yet. Simply gorgeous. Thanks Bill!
Breath taking example guys... absolutely beautiful!!!
My 1st car was a '61 Buick Invicta with the same 401 cu in Wildcat 445 engine.
What a torque monster!
My parents bought a 1964 Buick Electra, same year I graduated high school. It was a four-door sedan, same blue as this car, white painted top, factory, blue brocade upholstery. What a beauty. I can’t get over all the chrome on that car and it seemed to be all metal on the interior. Even the vent pulls were chrome. What I wouldn’t give for that gorgeous blue Buick
That is a beautiful car Bill. I absolutely love your RUclips videos. You're the best in the business 😁👍👍
I was going to say that Dalton found that pen where the sun don't shine, but there in Florida, where the sun shines everyday!

This is great video of a beautiful car. I've always loved "Wild Cats" and this example is truly amazing 👏
Dang!!!!! This Car is Nasty, Sweet, & Super Tight. Wish this Car was mine. Love that color Blue & that it is a Drop Topp. That is one Bad Buick 🏆🥇

Damn Bill! I haven't even watched the vid yet, but this could damn well be your best find ever!!!!! Beautiful!!!!
What a beauty..... GM cars of this era are a real favourite. Luxury, style and power.....
I thought the same. The chrome around that gas door looks cheesy. The only bad note on the car. I somehow doubt it's factory. Maybe I'm wrong.
@@severinjohn It's actually factory, but I agree with both of you. It would look cleaner sans the brightwork.
My friends dad had a hardtop, same color. It became a backyard couch and table once he stopped driving it. I never understood why he stopped driving it, but it sat for all of our school years.
Someone hit the jackpot with this beauty.
I've got a buddy we named Wildcat when he was about 13... We're mid 60's now 😂
The nickname remains !

The tilt at start 0:25 makes me in awe of that engine. I saw just 1 above a bar cut in half on length for decoration, lovley.
wow, that's nice.. I'm surprised I never heard of this one before...
As Homer Simpson said about using turn signals "whichever way I go is my business"!!!!!!
My father had the same car minus the color; Dads' Wildcat was red. They are quite rare!
That dyslexia disclaimer was hilarious. Also- what gorgeous drop top.

My dad had a 64 Wildcat rag top. Yellow w/black interior. He traded it in on a 1970 Electra 225 2 dr. Brown of all colors.
Dalton looks scrambled. Not surprised!
Finally a buick from the muscle car era
