From Mud to Drought: Sweet Corn Season 2024

- That was a wild season. Many times, it's been muddy over the years, but the extreme dryness does not appear too often. We will probably never have a mechanical picker because of the sorting required. Sometimes the non ready ears just need a few more days to mature, sometimes, they will never mature. Mechanical harvest eliminates that chance for a second picking and makes a ton of cow feed fast.
I am now hungry for sweet corn
Have a good day.
Hey, we pick into feed bags. Driving the tractor and trailer over the rows we picked already. Pick a bag and then set in the trailer. We think it is fast and we don't have to hand bomb them individually. Can pick 1 doz/minute usually. My two cents, but everyone does things different. Hope your season has gone well, we also got a ton of rain around then. Took 2-3 weeks to fully dry.
Spent so many summer days...following my uncle while he picked sweet corn...I was dragging the feed bag full of sweat corn....lol
To sell on the town square....tomatoes...peppers...cabbage as well....lots of work....lots of good memories
Good video.
I bet those rice tires made it nice for that on the 2910, good video 👍👍
Good stuff
Love me some sweet corn! How was your harvest this year?
Howdy, I hope ya'll are doing well, great looking sweet corn 🌽 man I would love to have some now, I miss those days, when we would go out in our neighbors field, and pick our sweet corn, nothing better than super fresh, amazing quality, sweet corn 😋 I remember easily eating 12 ears myself for lunch, and the same amount again at dinner,
Audio is better this video, it mostly gets muffled when your filming, and running equipment, Stay safe, God Bless and Farm on my Friend
Interesting. We went 75 days without any moisture. Makes harvest interesting.
Mud to drought you say? Well it be that way sometimes......
👍👌❤🇨🇦
We always left a "driveway" between sweet corn plantings (16 rows/planting I think). Used tractor with flatbed trailer & bushel baskets.
We did that for a while, then decided the weed control in the aisles was too much space wasted.
You need a side by side
