I'm taking a chance with these tires on a 2017 Mustang Here in northern Utah. My final pick was Nokian One, Goodyear Weatheready, Michelin cross climate 2.
Bought these today on a whim recommendation by the discount tire rep and found this video later tonight. Stoked about the purchase and get them on tomorrow. Great review and feel confident about the purchase now.
Great review! I have been considering this tire for the upcoming replacement on my wifes' Outback since i am a big fan of General/Continental tires. Definitely going to get them in a few thousand more miles.
Howdy from Texas Matt! Thanks so much, as always for your insight and videos!! That’s definitely a tire I would consider for our SUV, soon when we will need to replace the tires! And the fact that Generals are made in the US is even better!! Take Care and Stay Safe!! Thanks again!! Let’s Go Hokies 🦃🦃!!
This tire tested poorly on wet pavement by Tire Rack but did better on dry which is the reverse I would have expected. I’d like to see a snow and off road on dirt road or gravel test.
Awesome review!! I am waiting on my 22 WRX GT. They only come with summer tires. Not sure why an all wheel drive vehicle would come with summer tires. I will be getting a set of these and have them installed when I pick up my car. I live in the country and am on call with my job. I need something that will work in all conditions.
@@skiaddict08 I really can’t say. I looked them over and just wasn’t sure. I ended up with the Continental All Seasons. I have a 21 Outback XT also. I have Falken A/T Wildpeak on it. I love them.
Nice video. I live in the deep South, no snow here, but I do take my AWD Honda Ridgeline to job sites that are muddy when it rains. Other than that it's mostly highway driving so I don't want the noise and short life of all terrain tires. So I got a set of these on my vehicle Saturday and it was raining a ton that day. Monday, today, when I went to the last job site it was nothing but ruts of mud (6" deep) through a field of mud about 100' long. No problem. I even was able to back up and turn around and got right through super easy. I was disappointed to hear of the sub par rain performance because we do get a lot of that here but I had no problems Saturday driving in heavy rain.
I'm still baffled how this tire is so-so in wet weather w/all off the siping...the water has all sorts of paths out from under the tire and the rubber is plyable and conforming. we should slow down in the rain, yes?
Hi Matt! Amazing review! I like how you discuss each aspect of the tire to help the people come up to a good decision based on their situation and need. Thank you for posting this! Subbed, liked, and followed! 👍 Quick question: I have a 2005 Camry SE 4cyl and was in the market for new tires. Im choosing between this tire or the Continental TrueContact Tour. What do suggest?
Great video and review! I've had Generas in the past but will be new to all weather's. I don't have an SUV anymore but now a Buick Lacrosse sedan. Will these perform well?
1 Canadian winter. December/January 2022. About 3,000 kms. 75/25% city/highway. No problems so far. No experience on ice yet. 2020 Toyota Corolla SE upgrade package. 225/40R18 General Altimax 365AW.
@@TSA333 No problems during two winters. Snow ok, not too much experience on ice, just a few times on light ice. Actually I just changed the 2020 SE for a 2024 XSE and I’m using the same type of tires, since summer, about 8,000 Kms. No complaints so far.
These tires are 98V XL so they would work perfect for a Model 3 AWD and have a very good LRR. Is there a reason you didn't mention this tire for EV's? It seems like it fits all the categories well and should keep efficiency high.
Great video. I have a 2017 Nissan Pathfinder front wheel drive. I love General tires. I want either the 365AW, RT43 (or new RT45). I live in southeast Missouri. Mild winters. Some snow/ice but usually not a lot. Comfort and low noise is a nice feature. And best value too. Thoughts on best tire for me?
1, The ice performance is better with the General, the General is also extremely quiet, something that I imagine is important for EV because rolling noise is more annoying, but Crossclimate2 is more robust and ride softer. I have crossclimate2 and I love it, but if you want as much ice braking performance from all-season as you can get I'd say the General is better. 2, Pay a little more attention to vehicle weight limits for the tires.
Hello I have a Kia Sportage 2017 turbo and I am trying to decide if I should go with this tire or the advantage control from BF Goodrich. I haven't had much luck in finding a good tire in my size especially one that does good in the snow. My size is 245 45 19 If you don't recommend this tire would you recommend?
I have a 2018 Equinox FWD. OE tires are 225/60R18 Michelin Premier LTX. At 26k miles, they are absolutely terrible in light snow. I am considering the General Altimax RT43 or the Altimax 365AW for use in northern IL. Thoughts? P.S. Your reviews are great!
The RT43 is a great tire. Low road noise, great ride and very good in the rain and snow. I live in northern Il, and I have them on my Toyota Van and would buy them again in a heartbeat. The issue is the RT43 will not fit your Equinox. I have a 2022 Equinox Premiere FWD with the same Michelin Primacy tires. The Primacy is good in the snow but is very noisy, and gives a very hard ride. Concrete Expressways are the most noise. The Primacy's were installed on a Toyota Avalon Limited I had a few years ago and ruined the ride. I would study the Altimax 365AW. I read the RT45 has a harder compound to make it last longer but would likely mean a stiffer ride. I recently drove I88 (concrete) and then 355 (concrete) in both vehicles. The RT43 was very quiet while the Primacy was very noisy.
Considering putting these on a Mazda Cx5. I live in Kentucky and we get a mix of rain snow and ice in the winter. Most of our miles are on highway and interstates, with some country roads mixed in when we camp while traveling. I mainly want something that will be sure footed in all seasons and especially on wet roads. Nothing worse than worrying about hydroplaning at interstate speeds with the family... we put about 25,000 miles a year on the vehicle. Would you consider this tire a good choice?
How does this tire compare to the Goodyear Assurance Weatherready? Both of them have the 3-peak rating and are rated to 60,000-mile warranties. My dad needs help deciding which tire to get here in northern Texas since he moved from LA. He has a 2015 Mazda 6 with 225/55/17 tires. Thanks!
general doesn't have a light AT tire for our car, would this tire be tough enough to drive daily on construction sites that are mainly dirt and gravel ?
Sure 👍 I've been trying to add more info like that in my reviews. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm thinking about having a tally screen at the end of the video that is kind of like a data ranking/features overview on how that tire review compares to the previous tire as I go.
