I think Anthony was a really good guy and what he gifted to these employees was awesome. But if your eployees struggle with low salaries, a raise would help one of them sure, but raising all salaries would get rid of the problem at the root.
That depends. Not all have the same cause of financial troubles. While it would definitely benefit all, not all of them will get their problems solved. Add to that, the rise in salary also mean the rise of production cost, something that would be pass on to their customers as a price hike. That by itself can affect the competitiveness of the company against others which in turn would affect the workers bonuses too (since that usually depend on the company's performance).

Why don't they just pay a living wage? Because it's a lot cheaper to give a couple of employees tens of thousand dollars than to pay over a thousand employees a fair wage.

The management training program probably isn't free and could lead to a significant raise in the future. I think it's interesting though that the first CEO was _MUCH_ more generous to his employees
The first CEO was a good boss and a good employee. Someone who truly understands not only business but people as well. The second CEO is a bit more problematic. He has never once had to deal with customers in his life with the possible exception of when he was first starting out. Since then, he's only dealt with accounts and not actual customers. It shows how each CEO understands people given the rewards and reprimand that they meted out. It's also very telling that the second CEO who claims to struggle to spend time with his family has zero empathy for people and is solely looking at the business consequences of what he observes.
He did nothing wrong... They agreed to work for said price and he employees them, you're welcome.. Your attitude is that of ENTITLEMENT... Go learn some gratitude for something

We really need undercover bosses back for any type of restaurant jobs to see what really goes on in the inside and be smart and dont tell them who you are until you get a full scoop of whats going on at the workplace. I hope people see this and agree or try to get more undercover bosses because we need you guys and it really helps the workplace go smoothier and stops the karens from acting out if someone puts them in thier place or fire them and they realize they cant get jobs because how they act and when they cant pay thier bills maybe they will wake tf up.

I wish there are more CEOS like this, give back to deserving people. I’ve seen so many companies with lousy workers and the manager is the core issue. They either don’t know how to do the job properly or there’s a lot of favoritism going on and end up with lots of slackers because all the good employees left the company.
That CEO doesn't communicate well because he's used to talking down to his employees. That's why it was difficult for him to engage in a conversation with the customers
Exactly! He talked down on the lady that was trying to de escalate with the customer Customers that are like that only call with what they want from a company and if they don’t get exactly what they want then they abuse the employee The boss is a naive guy that doesn’t care about his employees. This is all just a publicity stunt
One of the employees claimed to be terminated from his job, because his daughter passed away, and he did not go into work that day terminating an employee, for this reason is against the federal law of the United States. He should sue the company through the labor department for lost wages, and for wrongful termination.
It happens a lot in the health field as well. It's extremely short staff at hospitals and nursing homes. But instead of calling us seasonal workers we're called contract staff or traveling staff. Even though we are only here for a minimum of 4 weeks or sometimes as long as 13 weeks for our first contract, we barely get any training. Then next week we just train the next contract/seasonal worker or the next new regular worker hirer even though we only get just one day of training or no training at all. I'm not surprised that a seasonal worker trains a new hirer at companies.
Ok, I have worked in restaurants for the past 27 years. Offering a dishwasher a “second chance at their job” and to be “retrained “ is a complete joke. NOBODY wants to do that job. We can’t keep people for more than a few months because of stress and work loads, and I work for a corporate chain. It’s an absolute JOKE. Maybe pay them more and they won’t feel like they have the shittiest job in the entire restaurant, WHICH THEY DO. You can walk into ANY restaurant and apply for a dishwasher and get the job the same day. I guarantee that guy left the following day.

I did hear that too but then I considered that he got put in a management training program which means a potential raise which in a year would be more than $5-10 k. He’s investing in that guy so that he can keep him as an employee and so he can help train.

It's evident to me that of all of his employees, he respects the black guy the most because that's the one guy who he actually gave NOTHING except something for his kid and OPPORTUNITY. That's exactly the way I'd do it for someone I genuinely respected, thought had all the potential but never had the opportunity - so that years down the road, the dude wouldn't feel like he owed me anything; so that he'd have the self confidence to know that he'd made it on his own and that if he ever tried to give me credit, I'd be able to say, bullshit, I just opened the door, you walked through and carried your weight on your own two feet.

Getting fired by a manager in your own company. That's rich 😂😅😊
The manager might not have known until this aired. He didn't meet as CEO with bald guy who fired him.
I mean, as someone who has worked at a Plant/Factory/Assembly Line, he admitted he was failing to meet quotas. People who can't keep up with the Machines slow EVERYONE down and are usually fired before they create a buildup of work issues by not being fast enough.
He fired him and the CEO agreed with it hence why he didn't invite him to his office and reveal his status and call him out. He admitted he made mistakes and was slow and thus was shocked of how behind he was in the standard he was requesting of his workers.
It's the fact that the boss hadn't even been there for a whole day and the supervisor didn't even give him a chance. That's ridiculous.
@@Fredaslee Factories don't have the luxury of giving days to get things right. You are easily replaceable. Either pick up the pace or be replaced.
One Slow Employee impacts the ENTIRE team. If you have a job of moving boxes from one conveyer belt to the next for example. If the person who builds the boxes is slow you aren't getting boxes delivered to you fast enough and you are standing around doing nothing. Which means the person further down the line who is meant to fill the boxes is getting cans of body spray piling up because he is only getting a handful of boxes to load. And the person who is checking the cans for damages is getting told to stop because the packer has too many fans at their station...which means the Line Man has to halt the machines until that box builder catches up...which means the Drivers who are meant to be taking boxes out are held up. And this goes for EACH step of the process
@@Fredaslee Most places I know will give you a week to come up to speed. If not, that's when they can you. Then again some companies have that 30, or 60, or 90 day probation period.
The buffet ceo, he claims to be from a restaurants background yet doesn't know that the treatment he received is somewhat normal in that field.
It's more rare to have boss that cares about employees doing it the correct way.
The best part is they managed to get an invisible cameraman!
😂😂😂😂
Lol they literally explain in the video 🤦♂
They tell people they're there filming a documentary about older people trying to get into the job market or something like that, it's not an invisible camera
hahahahaha...
That’s exactly what have been thinking of
It's unfortunate that a lot of people who have an issue with their employer create the issue themselves with a poor attitude and lack of work ethic. There are a lot of bad employers in this world, I have worked for a few myself. What all employers need to understand is that people don't leave bad jobs, they leave bad employers. Nobody likes to work, but we all have to in order to survive in this greedy world. I have been in the work force since I was 11 and finally nearing retirement (which I am looking forward to) 17 months and counting, oh yes I am taking it at 62, why would I want to work another 5 years for an extra $500 a month on my retirement check when I can easily make that and maybe more doing my side gigs at my leisure 😀
it's a shame that this show is all propaganda to convince people that devaluing their job accepting shitty conditions under the pretense that "hard work pays off eventually" is a good thing for them.
Matthew 11:28-30 New International Version (NIV)
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
That's what my dad is dealing with at his work. There is so much discord going on and that there is no teamwork along nobody wants to do their job, and a few bosses aren't doing theirs right either. The ones around him are always slacking off and don't even even help him. It's gotten out of control, and they don't seem to want to fix the problems with the workplace. It's gotten so crazy that even the ones who don't do their job are feeling it. My dad is well past 63, but he doesn't want to retire yet due to the obvious that is happening in the crazy world we live in.
Bruh this shit is staged

I’m disappointed that Mike didn’t talk to the guy that fired him and saying that people should be trained at least a week before termination

Ah good ole "Undercover Boss". First, how could these people not know what's up? Second, every single episode is ... drama, bad employee, boss has a hard time because he's out of touch, token number of employees get "help" because of their tremendous backstories, boss surprises them by taking off the OBVIOUS wig and gives them money/college/bonus/promotion ... while every other employee works for the same broken, terribly run company. It's really an amazing show of "look at what a great boos I am" self promotion.
Undercover Boss, much like many other "Reality" shows are scripted and edited for the highest response possible.
exactly my point. Yet, they act like it's all real on these channels and comments buy into it like suckers. @@newsmith
It’s clearly manufactured television. All “reality” TV is. 🤷🏻♂️

He’s not the sharpest knife in the knife store.
The manager training program is a promise of making much higher income in the future, so it evens out. Possibly the man got the better deal by a lot.
The management training program probably isn't free and could lead to a significant raise in the future. I think it's interesting though that the first CEO was _MUCH_ more generous to his employees
U know this is staged right
@@funkysteve2583 Real or fake it’s still garbage
So many negative, difficult videos to watch. This one was a breath of fresh air. Thank you.
Michael is worth 12 billion and he gives his employees the tiniest amounts of money I've ever seen a boss give on this show.
I don’t know, the Chiquita boss also gave some bad rewards
He did nothing wrong... They agreed to work for said price and he employees them, you're welcome.. Your attitude is that of ENTITLEMENT... Go learn some gratitude for something
We need more of this… giving back to the people who work hard for your business!! 👏👍👏
Bro we need more organizations like this to protect workers and workers rights because working at fast food it be like this excatly. Either a lazy azz worker gets mad because a worker thats a hard worker comes in and sees theyre new and suppose to train, but dont wanna train because thier either scared to lose thier job so they dont train or they say ignorant comments that shouldnt even be said or they need to get fired for discrimination because thats violence in a workplace and it looks bad on the companies, the workers, and affects the guests and thier experience there at the restaurants.
This video is every adhd persons dream lol. Short summary of everything happening and fast paced walk through. Love this lmao

Man I wanted to see the guy thst fired him come in, and him tell him he was doing a good job by keeping productive properly moving
But firing someone on their first day is wild. Quality then quantity.
@michellestiles4601 oh I agree to that as well I think it was a bit harsh, but I also think some if not a lot of this is scripted anyway. I couldn't imagine firing someone on the first day without them having gone through a proper training process
Mike is stingy af. Its so weird going from buffet ceo to the founder guy. I think that the founder was more frugal because its his own pocket. Its still a world of difference compared to buffet guy.
I don’t understand how they make this show without hidden cameras isn’t it obvious a new hire shows up with a camera crew & sound boom
Well the entire show was stage
If it's on TV, it's fake. At least partially, if not completely. Most of it is completely fake
First you make every worker so poor they have to work all their lives, then you only reward a very small number of "deserving" employees for doing their jobs. What about all the other good employees slogging it out there? They don't deserve $1000 gift cards? This is a scam!
I use to work at golden corral. The busiest day is Sunday. Dishes, pots and pans everywhere
I wish there are more CEOS like this, give back to deserving people. I’ve seen so many companies with lousy workers and the manager is the core issue. They either don’t know how to do the job properly or there’s a lot of favoritism going on and end up with lots of slackers because all the good employees left the company.
Imagine getting fired in ur own company 😂😂
That CEO doesn't communicate well because he's used to talking down to his employees. That's why it was difficult for him to engage in a conversation with the customers
Exactly! He talked down on the lady that was trying to de escalate with the customer
Customers that are like that only call with what they want from a company and if they don’t get exactly what they want then they abuse the employee
The boss is a naive guy that doesn’t care about his employees.
This is all just a publicity stunt
This boss is the type of person that we all want to work for
U know its staged right
Which one?
that buffet Ceo is one of the best Ceos supporting his works like is very heart warming
One of the employees claimed to be terminated from his job, because his daughter passed away, and he did not go into work that day terminating an employee, for this reason is against the federal law of the United States. He should sue the company through the labor department for lost wages, and for wrongful termination.
I love the split between the horrible employees and the very best that they showcase, its a tear jerker
I have never seen a seasonal work train a new hirer 😂😂😂
Dude doesn't know how to be a dishwasher 😂
This is pure gold. I`m happy for these employers and employees. Thanks .
I do love the positive vibes! ❤
Never have I ever been as sick as I was leaving a hometown buffet. So thanks for the fellow restaurants to avoid 😅
I could never understand how does an undercover boss works undercover with a cameraman 😮😮😮
They tell them it's some other sort of show and not undercover boss. Like they'd tell the workers he won a competition and was to work for a day in order to win 5k or something.
I worked for Ryan's SteakHouse in Jacksonville, FL for about 2 years as a Steak Cook/Line Cook...my primary job was to make sure the steaks were cooked to order for each customer and make sure the line flowed correctly by helping others out (this also helped me cook steak dinners for veterans at the local VFW...where I got volunteered by my dad [Thx Pop RIP])
There was one waitress named Debby who wore Calvin Klien Obsession perfume...every time she walked thru the line part of the kitchen I could smell her prefume. Just thinking about it today I can still smell that perfume
Imagine hire a new guy who comes with 3 cameraman behind filming all day

That CEO is amazing....... Watching this made me tear alil because these managers nowadays take me out my norm when I be tryna change my ways
Everybody else get 5-10 thousand and gave the black man 1000 is insane
I did hear that too but then I considered that he got put in a management training program which means a potential raise which in a year would be more than $5-10 k. He’s investing in that guy so that he can keep him as an employee and so he can help train.
If he sent the dude to a vendor for the management training, that could easily equal 5-10 K depending on how long/thorough the training is
Right I’m like that’s it . Racist bastards
You ignoramus. He gave the black guy the MOST valuable gift. He gave those other people one time bonuses. Graduates of logistics management training programs make six figures a year STARTING. And he didn't give the black guy $1000. He gave the black guy NOTHING for himself initially. The $1000 was for his daughter.
I've had 12 bosses, I've met about 4 regional bosses. I've only even liked 2 of my bosses, truly respected one. It goes to show how so many think you're just a number at the end of the day
The best asset of the company are the good employees.

Undercover Boss should be called: CEOs find out first hand that their companies don’t pay workers a living wage.
Finds out employees don't make enough to live....gives one a promotion to make himself feel better and forgets all the other employees
Why the brother didn’t get a promotion to manager or a restaurant??? Come on!!

Got her a house so she would never have that steuggle again... what a genuine dude, damn!!
But if he paid his employees a living wage then she would of be able to afford a house and not have to struggle
so it nice that he got her a house but what about the thousands of employees that are in a similar position to the employee he gave a house to this show is nothing PR for the company as if the CEO actually cared about their employees that would pay their employees a wage where they good afford a house and a reliable vehicle
These shows are basically about rich, privilege, and white people getting an eye-opener about the poor and minorities out there...doing all the dirty work for them. The rewards these CEO gives out are petty change. 💯
I miss our Ryan's buffet. They did their employees dirty when they closed the restaurant down though.
Wow!!! Imagine what a nice place the world could be if we had more nice, caring, generous, helpful people in it?
The fact that half these people seem to say they're struggling to make ends meet means these companies dont pay enough ... its nice they help out a couple people but they need to help out all their employees who work hard for them .
Huge mistake to ever give someone a second chance when it comes to their attitudes and the way they treat people. They are raised that way and will never change.
Seeing the ceo learning the jobs they force others into while being absolute idiots best part of the show
