The best thing about this video's editing is without a doubt the sense of weight that it manages to convey. I mean, like, just viewing it emits a near-physical heft each time the bass kicks in and an Eva slams something, the camera snaps in or out, a fast movement is initiated, and so-on. It's a great accomplishment, really.

Every single bass layer, drum beat, kick, electronic buzz, has a weight and hit that's synonymous in the video. I think more AMV makers have to focus on stuff like this, making videos that compliment that source material just as well as the music rather than focusing on less... static elements. I mostly work with trailers and tribute AMVs (other channel), but I would love to tackle something like this one day, something that seems like it could legitimately stand on its own for as great a display for the series as it does for the song and band. As somebody who loves researching audio and video editing for a less shallow effect, all I can say is: Bravo.

Actually to be honest, a lot of music is more defined by their inclusion in high quality AMVs than their original MV, such as Illiea's and Shin's, among others.
Man, I feel so sorry for the people who start Evangelion by watching the Rebuild movies first. Some people don't even bother to watch the original series at all.
i last watched the original series when i was a kid so i decided to watch it again yesterday....and maaann...it really fucks your head up sometimes (and I love it) XDD
the movies are great, but of course the original series is better because it has this thing that fucks with your brain at times that the rebuild movies don't have (in my opinion)
+jiale chen I always wondered why mobile would block a song while PC can view it. The reason makes sense. Because you can't take a pc anywhere and stream music on the go, unlike the RUclips app. So in essence, it's to prevent people from streaming their music just anywhere from places that give them no revenue.
If the 'AMV' doesn't have clip syncing then I don't even consider it an AMV. It's just some clips from an anime with music on the top. Anyone could do it. Syncing however takes time and thought, and it's the editing that truly makes an AMV enjoyable. I will never understand why some AMVs on RUclips that are so poorly edited are well received.
My god, if only more people understood syncing a song's beat to whats happening in the video like you do, instead of haphazardly putting together random clips to a song and calling it a day. Really, quality video this is.

Thanks! I'm not a big fan of the "mask every single scene" trend that's popped up recently. I just think it lacks character, y'know? It's become cruise control for transitions. It certainly has its time and place to be used effectively, (I've utilized it before myself), but not every single scene change...
honestly this is one of my absolute favorite amvs. i've noticed a trend with more talented editors to rely a lot on special effects but nothing will ever beat the meticulous effort that goes into editing together well-timed clips like this video has. literally every second of it is impressively thought out. this deserves all of the awards it won! thanks for all your hard work.

Absolutely incredible. I was lucky enough to be at the closing ceremony and I can tell you I've never had goosebumps like when I watched this in the theatre with a booming sound system and a huge screen. Perfection, and it loses none of its impact on a smaller screen. Honestly, bravo!

This is simply incredible. It takes extreme skill to perfectly match video to music and you absolutely nailed it. The very feel of the weight of the Evas and the alienation of the pilots comes across with crystal clarity. In only a few minutes. Amazing work.
Not gonna lie, this AMV single-handedly convinced me to watch the entire series (which I now think of as one of my absolute favorite TV shows, animated or otherwise).
I have never seen this anime, but the way this amv was edited made it very easy to follow, considering how tedious it all was. I cannot imagine how long it must've taken to make this, but it truly is brilliant the approach you did. It hardly depended on effects to keep up with the tempo of the song. You made use of mainly one transition and the clips themselves which I gotta say is just so perfect how the timing worked out so well. There were some moments that I felt it was too slow or too fast, but overall I feel that you had an excellent flow throughout this video. Awesome job :D!
+Clarice Davila If all you're looking for in Evangelion is action, then yes it'd be tedious to you. It's about more than the giant robot battles, there's also a lot about the psychological effect warfare has on people, especially since the main character is so young. It not only shows him kicking giant robot ass, but his mental breakdowns afterward. It's the Madoka Magica of mech shows. So you might have missed the entire point of it. Though it goes a little slow, I think that's appropriate pacing. Though yes, this AMV is pretty great.

More than 10 years ago I saw Rammstein - Engel AMV for the first time. This is how my own Evangelion started. Nothing was as good as that masterpiece. Until now. To me, sir, you made the only true successor to that legendary video. The whole age of anime, Evangelion, music, AMV - everything fits right between these 2 videos. Rebuild are more faithful to Anno's vision, even I was disappointed of the major differences between Neon Genesis and Rebuild. And right now I do have many questions about the 3rd movie like, what happened during the time that Shinji was dead ?

Being introduced to the series this way, I had found myself enthralled and astounded by the amount of detail put into the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. Knowing that the quality of the Rebuilds had been more up to date than the prior, I had wanted to watch the Rebuild first, but opted to Neon firstly. It's until now that I've watched the season three times, each time finding new things in between the lines and having good replayability overall. The Rebuilds, as people may know, are just as excellent in their own story progression, with the added bonus of working action to the priority agenda. To LeiliaAMVs, you have my thanks for showing this golden piece, never would have seen it or Kyoukai no Kanata due to your exposition of video editing skill and the chosen anime.

In all the years I have heard about Evangelion, I was NEVER interested in watching it. I had seen cosplays, I had seen art promos for it, and other fan art, but nothing ever made it look exciting. So I never bothered to watch it. THIS is why I love AMVs!!!! Especially the really well made ones! MikaSorano Well if you do watch it keep in mind that it's more than an action series. The character development and the subtext matters a lot in order to drive the story. Also they don't spoon feed you with the plot. There are a lot of things you must figure it out by yourself; or by reading Wikipedia :D
you sound like you'd be more into the movies. There are lots of amazing action sequences in the series but it shows its age, and If you go into the series expecting it to be action packed like this you'll be disappointed. The action is far from the focus of the the show.
+MikaSorano Evangelion is something any fan of anime should see, and I would recommend watching the show before the films. The films are f*cking awesome, but the show is a monument. It -changed- things, for the genre and for the art in general.

I enjoyed the Rebuilds (Well...the first two...). I'm not sure about the series, I've only seen the first few episodes. The End of Evangelion and Death and Rebirth movies were....confusing, but I expect that's because I hadn't finished the series haha.

As some one who has watched the 26 episodes of Neon Genesis Eva, and not end of eva, because I would like to keep my sanity intact, I would personally like to say that Rebuild of Eva, overall is just better than the original series, but the original is still good in it's own right. Thank you for replaying to my comment, and to be honest while I have not seen the End of Eva, I do know what happen's in it. And I love that Shinji, did eventually overcome his problems, I do very much respect in general when some form of fiction, send's the audience a moral message. But enough about that, who's to say Shinji, well somehow be able to overcome his problems in rebuild?
The characters seem more bleak and less relatable as they were in NGE though. When Asuka nearly died in the second movie I almost didn't care. The only thing that really got to me was the soundtrack choice. I also disliked the CGI implementation. I'd prefer oldschool style of EoE to any modern CGI. Pencil drawn ftw!
I'm with the small group of people who believe this to be a continuation from the original. Shinji wanted a "redo". If you watch the redo's Kaworu says something like "this time I will please you, Shinji." Meanwhile he's never seen him before that moment. Also, how the movie starts with the scene of a blood ocean is how the movie prior ended. I may be wrong, but I'd like to think Anno is messing with us, and this really is a continuation. Shinji realized his mistakes, and wanted to redo them. So, naturally some scenes were changed, but 90% stayed the same.
So. I see this video at least once a week. I like the song, but the song by itself doesn't warrant a weekly listening. It's the perfect combination of rhythm, source material knowledge, flawless transitions and sensible selection that makes this the best AMV I've ever seen, and I've been around. Huge congratulations on this editing success Ileia, that 2 years after its uploading this video is still roaming my modem.

I had never heard of the song or the anime, but now "Radioactive" is my favorite song (though its not the same without the seat-vibrating subwoofer) and I'm going to start watching Evangelion!!!!
Goose bumps every time!
Being introduced to the series this way, I had found myself enthralled and astounded by the amount of detail put into the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. Knowing that the quality of the Rebuilds had been more up to date than the prior, I had wanted to watch the Rebuild first, but opted to Neon firstly. It's until now that I've watched the season three times, each time finding new things in between the lines and having good replayability overall. The Rebuilds, as people may know, are just as excellent in their own story progression, with the added bonus of working action to the priority agenda.
To LeiliaAMVs, you have my thanks for showing this golden piece, never would have seen it or Kyoukai no Kanata due to your exposition of video editing skill and the chosen anime.

In all the years I have heard about Evangelion, I was NEVER interested in watching it. I had seen cosplays, I had seen art promos for it, and other fan art, but nothing ever made it look exciting. So I never bothered to watch it. THIS is why I love AMVs!!!! Especially the really well made ones! This particular editor has made me want to watch the series now because this looks freakin' awesome!! Great job, you def deserved the win!
MikaSorano Well if you do watch it keep in mind that it's more than an action series. The character development and the subtext matters a lot in order to drive the story. Also they don't spoon feed you with the plot. There are a lot of things you must figure it out by yourself; or by reading Wikipedia :D
you sound like you'd be more into the movies. There are lots of amazing action sequences in the series but it shows its age, and If you go into the series expecting it to be action packed like this you'll be disappointed. The action is far from the focus of the the show.
+MikaSorano Evangelion is something any fan of anime should see, and I would recommend watching the show before the films. The films are f*cking awesome, but the show is a monument. It -changed- things, for the genre and for the art in general.

I enjoyed the Rebuilds (Well...the first two...). I'm not sure about the series, I've only seen the first few episodes. The End of Evangelion and Death and Rebirth movies were....confusing, but I expect that's because I hadn't finished the series haha.
***** I loved that they decided to completely defy expectations and go a completely different direction. But I do think it is oddly paced and does a bit of a disservice to some of the smaller characters.

As some one who has watched the 26 episodes of Neon Genesis Eva, and not end of eva, because I would like to keep my sanity intact, I would personally like to say that Rebuild of Eva, overall is just better than the original series, but the original is still good in it's own right. Doe's anyone else agree or disagree with that? Please do tell me.
Thank you for replaying to my comment, and to be honest while I have not seen the End of Eva, I do know what happen's in it. And I love that Shinji, did eventually overcome his problems, I do very much respect in general when some form of fiction, send's the audience a moral message. But enough about that, who's to say Shinji, well somehow be able to overcome his problems in rebuild?
The characters seem more bleak and less relatable as they were in NGE though. When Asuka nearly died in the second movie I almost didn't care. The only thing that really got to me was the soundtrack choice.
I also disliked the CGI implementation. I'd prefer oldschool style of EoE to any modern CGI. Pencil drawn ftw!
End of Evangelion ties up all loose ends... it's not confusing and actually makes everything make sense.
I'm with the small group of people who believe this to be a continuation from the original. Shinji wanted a "redo". If you watch the redo's Kaworu says something like "this time I will please you, Shinji." Meanwhile he's never seen him before that moment. Also, how the movie starts with the scene of a blood ocean is how the movie prior ended. I may be wrong, but I'd like to think Anno is messing with us, and this really is a continuation. Shinji realized his mistakes, and wanted to redo them. So, naturally some scenes were changed, but 90% stayed the same.
So. I see this video at least once a week. I like the song, but the song by itself doesn't warrant a weekly listening. It's the perfect combination of rhythm, source material knowledge, flawless transitions and sensible selection that makes this the best AMV I've ever seen, and I've been around. Huge congratulations on this editing success Ileia, that 2 years after its uploading this video is still roaming my modem.
