HI HELLO! as an international applying for fall 2022, thank you for showing your portfolio works. most of the portfolio videos i see are from fine arts students and seeing works from a design/digital media students helped me feel needed, per say. you and your art have inspired me.
Hello!! Thank you so much!! Yes watching everyone’s fine arts pieces definitely had me stressing too hahaha. But yeah hopefully this did give you some guidance and good luck for next year!!!
This is super refreshing to see since im not too great at realism either and I love to experiment with very stylized..styles lol. This definitely is giving me more confidence in my portfolio:)
doing portfolio work last minute (lol) but ur pieces rlly inspired me bc i was super worried abt my chances since im not great at photorealism and lean into more cartoonish/stylized proportions. so glad this video exists man 🙏🙏
@@sophiashin2577 no i ran out of time to do the porfolio LOL 😭😭 i did get into the animation program at san jose state, so since i was aiming to go towards animation anyways i think it was a better choice for me
Hey man! This is so late, but I’m applying for a bunch of art programs all over LA in the fall! Super happy you got in, your style is adorable! Any tips on your cover letter, or on what they look for specifically? I hope your time there has been amazing!
Ty for posting this video! I've been super overwhelmed w applying to colleges this year, and I was afraid that a lot of UC schools wouldn't have programs geared more towards what I was interested in (I wanna go into an illustration/character concept related art classes/career). Do you think this school would be good for ppl who would want to work in this type of specific niche?
Hey I am an engineer.. and i am currently working...but I have always been interested in Graphic design...I also draw ....make illustrations(not professionally) and finally convinced my dad to allow me too change my field... so I I apply to colleges.... do you have any tips for complete beginner
Honestly I say experiment with different styles and techniques! Or watch cartoons and look at illustrations, normally helps me get into a “creative” state of mind!
Wow so informative this has been so helpful thank you💯 And may I ask how many pieces in total did you include in your portfolio? And do you think it's okay to include fanarts in portfolios? (Not fully a copy from a movie scene but rather taking a movie character and insert her to my own background/objects and stuff)? 🤔
I have heard mixed responses about including fanart, I personally didn’t only to showcase my own original characters. But if you have a plan and think it would look cool than go for it!!
@@siddrawsstuff2427 Wow! CAN you also share a bit about your stats, gpa & ecs? It would be extremely helpful to us! Thanks for your response btw I really like your art style!
i only got an email talking about the deadline. i just searched ucla design media arts supplemental application and u should find it on their page along with a worksheet :) the deadline is jan 24 btw
finally a portfolio that fits what i wanna do as well. thank you for this inspo !!

Hello, loved your video, how did you find the requirements and rubric for the art portfolio?
did you mention that you were interested in character design in your portfolio?
Yes I did! Under each piece you get to write a little about what inspired it or what the thought was!
There’s an animation program in UCLA?

May I ask what activities/awards did you fill out and you were applying? Did u have a lot of art-related activities?
Do you get a link to submit your portfolio? I applied already but haven’t received anything back yet.
i only got an email talking about the deadline. i just searched ucla design media arts supplemental application and u should find it on their page along with a worksheet :) the deadline is jan 24 btw
did u have to write a supplemental essay for the undergrad major? apart from the piq’s
Is there an amount required to submit? like # of artworks
could a music producer or video editor be accepted in this major?
