Marcus Robert is a profound musician as well as a human …In my opinion he is a realised, enlightened human…What an honour to have access to his art, his intellect. 🎇

I spent a few hours with Marcus in the mid'80s at FSU ... my sister was his personal assistant, I just happened to be a jazz fan boy. Marcus, at the piano... for my entertainment.... kind of made of fun of modern music by playing bits and pieces of top 40 hits of that time. It was very funny.

I remember going to FSU with my high school band (Melbourne HS) in 1979 for some special event - possibly the NATS convention. Marcus received an award then (I want to say it was called the Marian McPartland Award?), but I was sick that night and stayed in my hotel room, so I missed the opportunity of hearing him play. ☹ But my classmates raved about how amazing he was. He would have been 15 or 16 then - same as me.
I came to the FSU School of Music in January 1984 as a voice major, but I don't recall ever meeting or seeing Marcus; in fact, I didn't even realize he was also a student there at the time!
Four or five years later, I worked at a clothing store on Apalachee Pkwy, and one of our regular customers was a sweet young woman named Trish, who told me she was dating Marcus. I always wondered if they got married or were still together.
