I've been listening to the album since it dropped. It's a full circle masterpiece. They way it ties their harder riffs and scream sequences from self titled, Lies for Liars, Artwork, etc. into this new, electronic sound is something the Used excels at more and more with each drop. I hear "Born to Quit" in the song "Numb", and "Blood on My Hands" in "Pinky Swear". They've really carved out their own space in the scene for over 20 years now. Their signature sound and gut punching lyrics are what keeps the long time fans coming back for more. ❤
Absofuckinglutely. Heartwork was a masterpiece of callbacks but the music on this new album was so reminiscent of their older stuff… idk every bit of it is AMAZING. I’m so glad they’re still putting stuff out.
@Raechel Stringer yesss!! It's such a perfect blend of old and new. I LOVED Heartwork, and the B side was even better IMO but this album is everything I love about The Used. Dopamine and Headspace are instant classics. I'm so grateful they're still making music and touring. I found them in 2004 and never looked back. This is the only band that I obsess over like this. Lol. I'm here for as long as they wanna stick around!
Your comment here is what's gonna get me listening again.. I sorta stopped listening when Quinn left, the used were one of those groups that pushed me as a musician... I worried that it just wouldn't be the same anymore.. I'm gonna check this one out thank you ❤✌️
@brittanylittke5931 Funny enough, there was an article on Outburn Online where the band confirmed that the B Sides MEDZ EP is 100% part 2 of Toxic Positivity. So when I look at Toxic Positivity as a whole now I'm also including MEDZ in there since they wanted to do an EP to have fun with it rather than just throw the songs out on a deluxe edition.
Great interview!! I just want to protect Bert at all costs from all the bad. he’s such an important human on this planet and I’m glad him and the bandmates haven’t given up on themselves and US the fans! 23 years and counting 💜💜💜💜
Omg I just aged myself, 20 years since I first heard The Used and regularly listening to this day. They are touring out here but damn, did the price of tickets inflate in the last 20 years!?!!
I’m diehard THE USED! Another epic record from them!! Thanks to THE USED for having stuck with the music and the fans for all these years!! 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽😊❤️❤️❤️👍🏽
I’ve been listening to your guys music since your Artwork album was released in 2009. I find all your albums are good and your songs are so catchy. I rehearse your lyrics in my head all the time and I just wanted to say your music kicks ass. Keep up the good work, stay cool and keep on making awesome music. Your music gets me through rough times and makes me feel better.
I'm staying at a Theravada Forest Monastery right now. My phone fell on the ground. Swore off electronics while I'm here. Turned it on just to check in with family and saw this album released today. One last indulgence! Perfect that this would be my send off.
I saw him live at the end of 2019 and he was great, hadn't really listened to them since Artwork/2009 but those first 2.5 albums are staples in my playlists, such a bummer that he had such a tubulent 3 years. Bummer that Quinn's not around anymore
The explanation of not Bing ale to pick up the phone. And jealous of the people that are good. Seem to be just fine.😢 shit dude you nail it!! Couldn't do any social media people happy? LIERS!!😅
1:17 🤔 What is he talking about? Lol. Says it's their most dancable song and he's never heard them do a song like it before? I know he's interviewed the band before, but maybe he's just never really listened to their music? Dancing With a Brick Wall isn't at all a stand out in that way. They've done multiple similar vibe songs and stuff that's more dancy and poppy than it on multiple albums. Even on their very last record with a song like Clean Cut Heals which is far more of a poppy dance song than DWABW. But they have several others too that are similar or more dancy on the majority of their albums. What's a silly thing for him to say. Lol
Yeah that took me by surprise. I immediately thought of Clean Cut Heels. Bert even called it their most poppy electronic song when Heartwork dropped. DWABW is great, but far and wide from their most pop themed beat.
@@brittanylittke5931 Yeah, exactly. Especially from their 3rd album on they've had songs on albums with a dance style beat. There's always be a little pop influence here and there too. Back during Artwork, Bert even coined their way of doing it "gross pop". This song is closer to some of those style songs like Paralyzed, Give Me Love, Hands and Faces, This Fire, Imaginary Enemy, Over and Over Again, just to name a few. And by comparison, Clean Cut Heels is even more poppy. DWABW is right in their wheelhouse.
@closinginonclosure agreed 100%! Vulnerable and its B side were definitely pop influenced. I loved that album even though it got some initial pushback from fans who prefer the Used for their harder sound and scream sequences. It still felt like them, but more exploratory electronica. Hands & Faces is such a great song. Also, I never knew Bert said that, but "gross pop" sounds exactly like something he would say Lol.

I wish they would have talked about i hate everybody! That's my favorite song on the album. I would have loved to hear a conversation about that song!

This is the best album I’ve heard in a decade plus.
Amazing album🤟🔥💪
Killer album
Pretty evokative on title alone may give it a shot.

Yeah I had no idea what the hell he was talking about, It’s almost like he’s not familiar with the bands catalog?

Death is unexceptional. They seem like they are sedated.
