The last OP-1 video was very good and I strongly suspect it got tanked by the algorithm because the title contained a Forbidden Word. This one is also very good
@@Eassstt yeah, other people know more about this than I do but the RUclips algorithm keeps videos out of people’s feeds based on words in the titles. Two I’ve heard about are “Covid” and “gay”. I don’t know about “blood” specifically but wouldn’t be surprised
"I will not stand to see that happen again, and I want you to know you don't have to either." Thank you, Jeremy. You don't know how much those words mean to me.
Thank you for reminding that a drunk purchase of an OP1 at 1 AM is not in my best interest lol But seriously, thank you for these and thanks for reminding us of our power. Hell, I know I've needed it lately.
Seriously, how do you do this? You pack together hard social and emotional themes with tech, music, hard work, and out comes a great song, and in between the terror and hard stuff you talk about, there is always some really quirky and funny moments, without dampening the impact of the main theme? Really, i don´t know a single other person that does this kind of content/music/politicalstatement/actionism/love thing. Please keep it up, you are so important in doing this. We can only act and hope and educate.
Your op-1 videos are some of the best content out there. Like another comment said, probably an algo thing. But your instinct one is what connected me to your channel. I am very grateful you are putting yourself out there
I absolutely love your collaboration with Aran - what a fucking amazing and MEATY track. This channel SCREAMs and it comes with a solid punch in the face. Dude, you're on another level, keep expressing yourself, keep sticking it to the hate and fear mongers and keep powering through those inevitable difficult days. If you're getting a reputation of being "too political", then that is excellent. Most other SynthTube channels are getting a reputation of being boring with nothing actually important to say (IMO - I stopped watching most of them some time ago). Music is an expression and SHOULD provoke thought and deep emotional response - mission accomplished ✊❤
I think this video finally helped me figure out why, as a weirdo cishet white man, I've always felt more at home among queer communities. It's the fear. I've always known (and had pride) in being weird, but I didn't realize until recently (i'm in my early 40s) that I'm autistic, so that always felt like a part of it, a common weirdness. But this kinda completed the picture. The bullying, ostracization, loneliness, confusion. As a kid I wasn't gay but I also couldn't understand why anyone thought that was relevant and I made no attempt to assert my heteronormativity, and so I was bullied for being gay, or weird, or when not bullied just... excluded. Among queer people I am celebrated for being more than just the meat I was prescribed. Excuse the overly on-the-nose wording here, but the rainbow of self expression that's inside me that's always been bursting out is welcomed and encouraged and how I'm built and who I prefer have no bearing on how and who I'm allowed to be; because we all know the fear of growing up being told we couldn't
Well said. I am in a similar situation - finding out I am autistic in my 40s. Not sure I ever felt at home with anyone if I am honest, until in recent years I have tried to care less what others think of me. Bullying probably forced me into that trap in the first place but now I am free of it.
Totally true, and all the more worth saying because we (age 49 here, diagnosed 2 years ago) are largely being represented in the public eye by autistic men who feel no such kinship. Damn... I need to make more art and it needs to get more political. Shit that's inconvenient
*internal panic* did I accidentally write my personal life out on a RUclips comment?? Oh, no that was someone else, woah. Support, brother. Humans are humans all over.
I got to see Bl00d when it came out and it hit so close to home I've listened to it so much and now this one too! its so good and I absolutely love it. thank you for all the work and care you put into these op-1 videos. I hope you have a good day jeremy, your music means a lot to me
I found out about the 1920 song Das Lila Lied today: ""Round us all up, send us away that's what you'd really like to do But we're too strong, proud, unafraid in fact we almost pity you You act from fear, why should that be What is it that you are frightened of The way that we dress The way that we meet The fact that you cannot destroy our love We're going to win our rights to lavender days and nights" 1920. Love your content and your message Jeremy 🙏🏻
I've been intimately familiar with systemic oppression in my life and am actively attempting to grow in the face of it and beyond- voices like this keep me going. Thank you Jeremy (and Aran!).
Holy shit! Your track was on my Spotify release radar and I immediately tracked you down here. Thank you for making this video. Thank you for making your music.
A common thread throughout my life, through my transition, and my disability journey, has been "courage and bravery aren't an absence of fear, they are facets of a person who does things despite the fear they feel" And that is different for everyone in different scenarios. Sometimes that's "not dying" sometimes thats "running into a burning building". Each act is brave and courageous, the same person may do both in their life time, but their response to the fear may be different each time
i like these videos more and more and i like to see reaction to this system, i like to see that not everybody is just afraid and powerless. for some reason, your op-1 videos format let me concentrate and "listen" to what you are talking about in your texts. And i hella love your music
Not the type of music I tend to listen to but I think this final result is one of my favorite of yours recently. Really fun vibe with the vocals added especially loving the intro chords in the layered vocals
Ok, first off, the track is amazing. Second off, thank you for dissuading me from buying an OP-1. As for why they aren't more scared, it's because they know we're less likely to resort to violence; we just don't believe in it in the way they do. The oppressed are historically nonviolent because they don't want to inflict on others what was inflicted on them. It's easy to use violent rhetoric when you know the other side won't punch back -- but punching back is something we're loathe to do, *and we are right for not wanting to do so*. So, yes, they should be more scared of us in the way we're scared of them -- but how we get to that point, I really don't know.
I got here because of the first OP-1 video. Your content is absolutely delightful, and this is probably the main reason I got into the more electronic side of the music scene. Thanks for all your work, and I hope you are well.
Thank you so much for continuing to do these videos. I know they are not your favorite thing. Just wanted to say I get a lot out of them. I watch them for the words of wisdom almost as much as for the music.
Your videos are honestly so so valuable, insanely good jams & content, but also the overall vibe of yours is something quite unique. Please take care, I look forward to your next one !
You always deliver! Sooo good and inspiring. So creative and in touch. You’re doing exactly what other artists should be doing, and I feel like you’re laying the groundwork out for others to take notice and get busy. Thank you for all that you do and continuing to share your voice and talents with the rest of us, it is truly inspiring and gets me motivated to put my music out there with a voice to back it up, so thank you. 🙌🙏
Inspiring as always. I will always stand up and fight back against our oppressors until we finally stop being degraded, abused, and killed solely for existing. We must keep being true to ourselves ✊🏾 Thanks for sharing your art with us ❤
I think this might be a) my favourite creation discussion -- I was also a scared meat child who became a scared meat person who has regular questions about the fragility of MEAT -- and b) your best track to date. Thank you for both
I'm glad this video was in my algorithm today. Seeing your salient takes on fear in general, fear about creating music, and fear directed at gay and queer people all interwoven with an inner monologue of creating elements of a track really connected with me. Even when we manage to not feel fear for our immediate safety, fear still manages to sift down into the rest of our thoughts and feelings and can rob us of the smallest moments of peace and joy. Seeing that common experience play out as you assemble small triumphs into a song that encourages and uplifts really did offer respite so thank you for that. I hope lots of other people can watch this and get that same experience.
I love the tone of this, it's got an almost stranger things meets PS1 style horror game vibe to it for the base track, then the final version adds another level to it , and it's really well done.
And then note that how anything that we do in return, as victims, suddenly makes us "intolerant" and fair game (as if we weren't already considered fair game by our oppressors). We didn't cast the first stone. Arm the LBGTQ+. Learn self defence. Organise. 10/10 song. Love the "Do you feel safe up there? In your pretty house on the hill?" bit and "You ain't scared enough." drop! ❤🔥
Smashed the like button early on to tell the f*cking algorithm that this is good sh*t. I had strong Massive Attack/Tricky/Portishead vibes during the process, but the finished song sounds like something Trent Reznor would be proud of, visuals included. Great track Jeremy, and let's make the fear change sides.
Damn that went so hard. I’m really into this. And yeah… we need to get organized like never before. Really needed this video today, thanks Jeremy and Aran. Y’all really killed that.
I had to go back to see if I missed an OP-1 video. It must be the algorithm as others have mentioned. Blood was my favorite to date and I replayed it so many times, it touches my soul. I look forward to every one of these.
Very different to your usual stuff, but I really like it. It's hard to overcome the fear, which at times seems to laughable but at the same time, so infinitely oppressive and impossible to overcome.
your last OP-1 video was amazing, I’ve been listening to the single on apple music every time i’m having a rough day and it really helps to keep me going. i’m a queer DJ, working on getting into music production, and I probably wouldn’t even have considered either of these things if I hadn’t found your channel all the way back in 2019. keep making awesome things.
Sorry these last two videos haven't done as well. I still love Blood wholeheartedly, so it's a serious shame. Although, I will say thank you for plugging Leashes in this one. Took me an embarrassingly long amount of time to figure out where to listen to you lol
Just amazing! Keep doing your thing! Those with the bags of money want to unexist anyone and anything they deem makes them uncomfortable. Imagine if everyone of those people had a freaky friday where they were trans or disabled or houseless for a week. Don’t worry about that damn algorithm. I’ll watch this 3 times right now!
Hey man, i just realized that i -missed- the last OP-1 video completely based on the script in this one. I was delighted to see the OP-1 vid for Instinct earlier in Jan. The OP-1 playlist you've got is hidden a bit on your channel so it's not super easy to get to. (i originally found Red Means Recording years ago via RUclips recommending David Bruce's rendition of Aquamarine and subscribed to patreon as a result). At this point i kinda try to keep track of everything that comes through Patreon, but i don't have a good way to hit up things that would otherwise be can't miss for me.
I love being party to your internal dialogue as you make sweet music. Never stop please.
I came here to say this.
The last OP-1 video was very good and I strongly suspect it got tanked by the algorithm because the title contained a Forbidden Word. This one is also very good
I'm pissed this is the way I found out I missed an OP-1 vid
I wonder if he'll get a bump on that one if a lot of people find out they missed it from this one.
I shared that joint. it was good.
Forbidden word?

Blake, my dude, this is legitimately tour-worthy music. I teared up listening to the end result. It's very, very Reznor.

I'm fangirling in my head every time you release one of these. Unable to leave a coherent comment but---thanks for taking us along for the ride.
I'm at minute six and this sounds like a Collab between Burial and Massive Attack. I love it.

Your OP1 work is always SUCH an inspiration.

make sure your oppressors are afraid of you. we'll get there in the end, jeremy. all the love for you.

Thank you for this. Even the part where you made me sit with the tedium. I needed that part too.
yessss op1 vids are the best!
1: I love these videos
2: This track is a BANGER
Have a good day Jeremy, much love!
Generating and focusing hatred on vulnerable groups is Fascism 101.

Great video and fantastic way to say what is on your mind!
Thank you for going so hard ✊
Keep it up. You're doing great.
This one went really hard dude 🤘
The sound @3:23 melted my soul.
