John’s lyrical composition is unmatched even to this day. His vocals are unbelievable. Still good enough to fool Black stations who do not know about Steppenwolf! 😂
Kent was lead guitar on the Steppenwolf, For Ladies Only album. Before that he played with Blues Image, the band that come up with Ride Captain Ride. RIP Kent.
Totally agree! - John Kay + brilliant band members - Mars Bonfire guitarist (stunning) + his Brother Drummer (RIP) all from Canada - Myself born (1945) Liverpool many times met the Beatles at the Cavern - comparing the best - John Lennon voice was amazing, however John Kay voice - seriously hits the spot ! Steppenwolf music is above norm -

Les, have you run across this very early clip of Steppenwolf in Texas shortly after the release of the first album? Pretty good recording and interesting to hear the band working on becoming a real live act. ruclips.net/video/rmoEGdIyFcI/видео.html
@@androidsr78 he also refused to sell his soul to the devil e.g. sign a contract in blood like most all top 40 bands have. just look for the one eye covered or the 666 hand sign, the Beatles and Zep along with all other big time groups have this sign stuff on their album covers.
I would've loved to see this band with early Hall and Oates. Sorry Jimi Mac Sheen but Daryl's the best BANDLEADER ever !! LoL , jyst MY opinion , A good case can be made for John Kay . And Jon Bon Jovi . And Bono . And Steve Perry . And ......
John Kay is one of the greatest song writers of all time--and so under-rated. Thanks for posting this. Cheers.
Forgotten songs and unsung heroes an outstanding crossover LP.

What a cool song..1st I'd heard it.. John & the band looking & sounding so great!

Saw him live with the Wolf and John Kay band. Great guitarist.

Other band members of Steppenwolf called him Der Fuhrer, specifically Goldy McJohn and Nick St Nicholas. lol
@@randymcturnan2520 Goldy was extremely talented. Both needed to move on and stop making their lives all about time with John.
bringing life back into me feeling young again
One of the best voices in music history - Johan Marais South Africa
George Biondo 👊🏻
John Kay Rock's. Rock On.
John Kay just doesn't do bad tunes. I hope to catch him solo one of these days soon!

Sadly 3 of these guys have passed on, only George and John are still with us and they are getting up there in age.

@@liamhurley Thanks for this, just listened to it, great early stuff!!!
TRES Nice
This is great stuff! I can't understand why Kay didn't make it big as a solo artist? And Kent plays some really cool guitar here......
Cause he is not commercial my dude and not wearing flashy outfits like those transgender hair metal bands

This band is still hot even after all these years! They are my favorite vintage band!! Hands down!!!!
no matter what, Kaye always had a more than capable band, behind him.
I see Kent is playing the brown Concert Amp that I replaced the speakers in with using JBL's. Weighed a ton but sounded amazing!
there is more to John Kay than escaping the iron curtin...
As I stated that John needs
to be alone sometimes
from Steppenwolf.
That guitar solo. Jesus christ!
No it's Kent Henry on guitar not Jesus lol......
That said, if Clapton is God, Kent Henry could be Jesus Christ.
CRAIG DEES Sounds good to me lol! Great slide work especially on "Ride with me", sorely missed but his music lives on, rest in peace Kent....
I like the
I'm having trouble sharing this video? What's up with that?
A real norteamerican I love this..a genuine man of US A.....
Deutschland>Canada>US

Steppenwolf, but without Jerry and Goldy. George & Kent
Kent Henry looks as always as if he wished to be somewhere else.
He was very confident but really shy
