    I only work with a 4 point sling. wouldn't mind working with a 6 point harness.

    Good presentation, but one question; when you said,"the shorter the loops are in the back", did you mean the legs vs the head portion of the sling

      Heidi Rodriguez i do as well, my client has muscular dystrophy and is my first client ever to use it. use it to transfer mainly to toilet and shower. occasionally in wheelchair. his is manual pump to lift and lower though.

    It's great that you neglected to show how to position the sling under the patient when transferring from the bed to the chair.

      Put the pack on the bed, move body, turn left, turn right. The pack will behind of the back body. Then lift up. You know, Bro?

    He didn't show how to place the sling when the patient is in the bed. Incomplete procedure. The patient can't use it unassisted.

    am paralised with no balanc but I slyeep inrecliner chair I can stand for a few seconds if carrer is in front to a. Commode ceiling host is too pain ful on legs as in constant pain I would like safiest standing hoist for 1carrer to operate and easy to store 😊😊

    Should always double check all the loops. It's nothing something that should be done quickly. Also, nothing was protecting the patients head from swinging back when lowering him onto the bed.. in reality his neck would have been in hyperextension.

      Also, the bar was near to the person`s head, and was slightly lowered near his head, this could cause a head injury if the bar was knocked accidently.

      Our hoyers will not lower with no power. easier said than done. I had a patient that I was lowering into her wheelchair and the charge was gone. It was VERY difficult to get the straps off and lower her. She was about 300 lbs and terrified. I told them (and you should too) to keep the hoyer plugged in when not in use.

      It is always better to use a manual hoist (non-battery operated).

      @@aquakenn I'm pretty sure all electric lifts have to have a manual release valve. Check your instruction manual and/or Google your model lift to find out how.

      @@MegaWinnaman No it's not. I use electric lifts all day long for years without issue, I always have a charged, spare battery available if needed. One lift isn't better, they are just slightly different methods to lift patients.

    Best standing sling to transfer from chair to commode for person who ceiling hoist hurts pain in legs patient can stains
    D but only for a few seconds ceiling hoist hurts and she needs to stand aiddded due to ba lance
    But circling hoist hurts legs as she is in pain all over she needs to transfer too. Bcomode abnd back from recliner

    This is a great review. Not I see a good way to put the sling onto the patient while he/she is in a chair.

    thumbs down! this is a 2 person job. not a one person, also youre not supposed to push the patient around on the mechanical hoist.

    Thanks, but you may want to say "him" instead of "the patient." It sounded like you said "the patient" too many times. Also, these are for people at home and not under medical care, so maybe not necessarily a patient.

      I noticed that too. Especially when he was lifting the man from the bed. It slid a bit. Also I thought that the "feet" should have been spread when lifting and lowering the patient.

      I'm unsure who taught you that but it is false putting the breaks on when using a lifter can be harmful as it can throw off the center of gravity which can cause the lifter to tip. however he should have had the feet widend slightly.

    observation, in the interest of safety, pulling and dragging those leg straps from the hips to go under the leg was a bit rough, also where is your 2nd carer, and you say safely move them to the next surface...again not safe,patient should have been placed into wheelchair and pushed from one are to the next, ridiculous video

      at least take his dignity into consideration, give the man the button, let him get involved, never criss cross a sling, he has genitals like you, the sling isnt even on properly, hes not on the correct sling going into a lay position, full body sling is required for this, omg the pain , this should not be used as a training video

      @@TheJoannebwn1968 There are legal implications to giving the patient the controller, at least here in the UK. Yes, I agree, not the best choice of sling but don't forget that a toileting aperture may have been necessary. As for the dignity thing, until we all become experts in magical levitation we are stuck with hoisting.

      Before fining the controller you would complete a risk assessment, when hoisting, his legs are a huge risk of being bruised. Try going in from the side. Hoist will always be here. Be kind to people include dignity in all practices

      @@theospreygroup4397 What an unprofessional answer and to admit in your own words "yes i agree not the best choice of sling " then surely it would be in the interest of service user to have a proper assessment to enable the correct equipment, and as far as a toileting "aperture" there was no demonstration of a toilet transfer. where was the other carer (best practice to have two carers) and brakes should only be applied if the service user is on the carpet or any other flooring and then released after the first few inches of the hoisting, other than that brakes should not be applied to hoists when being used.

    Replace the word “patient” with his name. You will foster more care and dignity for him. Addressing him as “patient” creates an unnecessary perceived lack of concern for this person.
