Essentially an old school Voyager class figure with an MP level transformation, and I'm perfectly fine with that. Subjectively Voyager 2007 SS Optimus was a disaster so I'm glad Hasbro is putting a Leader Class budget into this Prime despite being smaller. Truck mode looks immaculate, and the paint on point though it would have been nice to see more in robot mode. neat how it does the sme trick with the front wheels as ROTB Scourge. Already on preorder for May.
I like how this Optimus can easily turn into a truck without having any gaps or robot parts sticking out than the 32/44 Optimus since that one does have some flaws the most in my opinion

It looks good knowing the backpack comes off. An upgrade kit could make it better. There isn't much you can really do cause of the humanlike design but this is a turning point. However I do think that when they do TF5 Optimus it should be a different mold thats better with a "Nemesis Prime"/corrupted head accessory. This one could use more paint though. It amazes me how a figure can have that much engineering put into it and still have that much kibble in robot mode. Huge disappointment imo. It would be fine for a voyager class but as a leader this is not enough, and the figure is not leader class size anyway, it is smaller than the original TLK voyager class Prime. I hope people enjoy this Prime but in my opinion Transformers figures have been going downhill in engineering, quality, size and painted details in the last few years. This one figure is the perfect example of all of that, just compare it to early Studio Series leader class figures. Prices have been going up and quality keeps getting worse, fans deserve better.
Every time someone critiques a figure with a Hobby Buzzword I immediately think they are someone not worth talking to. Jonny doesn't understand the difference between a toy and a collector's item anymore and whenever someone brings up a buzzword like that I immediately know you can't either. You can't tell the difference between something sold to adults and something sold to children, that's on you. But man are you close to getting it. The transformation looks fun and guess what, that's the point. That's the entire idea of the toy. Not how big it is, or how complex, or how accurate. But the enjoyment of doing the thing that spurns the reason for its existence. MP and 3P shit always sacrifices this aspect, because why does something for adults need to be fun? It needs to be the biggest, the heaviest, the most accurate. You go on ahead and enjoy them as much as you like, hell I take a dip every now and then, but of all my Transformers the ones I handle the most are the Hasbro ones because tit for tat they do the transforming thing the best.
Sorry but I do find it baffling how Hasbro has gotten to the point where we now consider seeing how a transformation works before getting a figure "spoilers" Like that is a crazy concept. Transformers toys have become like shows and movies? Wild. Anyways knowing myself I'll forget how it works by the time I get it.
It's a scale up, ss 86 hot rod was a deluxe but had voyager scale budget for accessories and transformation...to make it work it's a voyager with leader budget for transformation parts and paint budget
We are SIX YEARS into Hasbro using higher price points to net them more budget to make the figures. We also know exactly what this design in voyager class looks like. It blatantly wasn't half as complex as this and came with less than the bare minimum in accessories and paint.
@ Actually we can, quite easily in fact, because movie voyager engineering hasn't advanced that significally since. Focus is still put into intricate detail over articulation. At best if they made this design a voyager again we might get wrist swivels but, looking at Voyager BBM Shockwave, very similar restrictions still exists. And even if they didn't utilizing leader budget for the design makes far more sense because the robot mode has nothing from the vehicle mode on it. Leader budget can, and quite clearly does, give the designers room to better compact the kibble into a streamlined humanoid shape. So at best a voyager would've been a mild improvement rather than the significant one this is.
Why the hell was RotB Prime made with less than deluxe budget? Why would you even make an Optimus like that? You cut budgets if something isn't going to sell, but who isn't going to buy an Optimus?
@@NexusProductions-rz1sv Nah you just didn't get it. RotB Optimus was supposed to be a slight remold of the BBB Optimus. But they felt crazy and made a whole new figure with a slight remold budget. Concessions had to be made. This figure is actually a miracle.

Meaning they wasted money using tires that look bad. But yes, this Optimus looks very good.
