ABOUT ME:
My name is David, and I play the mandolin. I've played with multiple award-winning bluegrass bands across the world including Missy Raines, Mile Twelve, Cup O’Joe, and The Foreign Landers, and I curate the weekly mandolin video series #mandolinmondays hosted by the Mandolin Cafe. But most of all, I love sharing my love of the mandolin with others. I run an online mandolin learning community on Patreon, and I also make videos to share my thoughts, ideas, and general mandolin enthusiasm with other mando aficionados. Thank you for this. As a new mandolin player, your channel has been extremely helpful. Mandolin content is hard to come by.
So glad!
I've had this on my watch later playlist for 11 months now. Finally got around to watching it and it's super helpful! Thanks!
I've finally had to give up the mandolin because of worsening arthritis. I will miss David's livestreams and lessons most of all. And playing! That tone!
Years of woodshedding potential folded neatly into a 20 minute video. Thank you!
Haha! Glad it was helpful!
The first picking exercise video that actually sounds good when being played, thank you 👍.
As a GDAE tenor banjo player these rudimental exercises are very helpful.
Thanks a bunch.
Happy to help!
This should be useful to purely focus on the right hand. Good to have one hand somewhat mastered by the time you begin adding some left hand notes into the mix. Thank you!
Great exercises, thank you
Thank you for your suggestion about using your wrist to play through the strings and arm movement to relocate to a new string. Makes a lot of sense. I can't wait to try it out with this exercise.
Yes these exercises are next level.thanku sir . M from Punjab, India.
These are excellent. Thanks!
Glad you like them!
Great exercises!
Thanks so much!
Please make a video on mandolin rhythm patterns. This one is just amazing !
Very Helpful
Good exercises .Thanku David sir
After watching this video, I will never need a tuner again. Thank you
That was awesome.
These are great. I think it would be cool to stay on one string for 1 measure and then play any of the 2, 3 and 4 string pattern measures. (I'm not an expert but I think that actually gives you a better sense of what timing is needed for adjacent/skipping strings)
Yeah, I think Mike Marshall has a set of exercises like that! Definitely worth checking out.
These are great! It sounds like your tempo is quite a bit quicker than 60. Are you playing 16ths?
Yes, he's playing to two metronome beats per bar.
Yeah, half note clicks are my go to!
What are the pick directions for #19?
Anyone else just skip to the end because you wanted to see David rip these things at a fast tempo? 😄
What would be the stroke directions for ex 24?
I have to ask what is your necklace it looks cool whatever it is ?
I think it's just a polished piece of wood. Thought it looked nice 😆
@@DavidBenedictMandolin it looks cool
It's okay to put your fingers on some frets if you get bored with GDAE. 😉
Huh! You didn't do the pizza stoke! Two strings down, one up. Ah, but you didn't do 3/4 time
