- A likely top-10 draft pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft, Matthew (Matt) Savoie has been turning heads with his electrifying play in the USHL with the Dubuque Fighting Saints, where the 17-year old currently has 9 goals in 13 games after scoring 3 goals against the USA-U18 NTDP Team on February 28th, 2021 (2/28/21). Savoie belongs to the Winnipeg Ice of the WHL but has been playing in the USHL during the pandemic because of the WHL being closed.

He’s the best 04 in the USHL
Why isn't he in the whl rn?
@@AFDM007 Due to his loan, he's eligible to return to the WHL at the conclusion of the USHL season. A bit odd, considering it's the WHL which actually owns his rights and allowed him to be on loan.
@@JT-hx3cp Savoie went to the USHL because the WHL was in lock down.
why is he not with Team Canada at the u18?
Not sure... Team Canada definitely seems to prefer Canadian players who play in Canada though, so that could be a part of it. He still is playing with the Steel in the USHL right now
@@ALLSPORTMIXTAPES Very curious given all the build-up in the media that he was perhaps the best '04 in Canada.
some of the hype has died down it seems... from what I hear he still is Top 10 material but Shane Wright is undoubtedly the best Canadian 04 at the moment
