Arrested Development. At least the first 3 seasons was peak comedy. A masterpiece of a show.

There's more than 3 seasons? I don't think so, you must've mixed something up.
First 3 seasons are the only seasons. Literally 10/10 scriptwriting. I've watched it like 4 times already and every time I get the jokes on a different layer. It's astounding to me.
Season 4 is underrated, but yes S1-3 are peak.

I love how Ron looks over at Sona and Gourley for extended periods while he's talking instead of just focusing on Conan. Pretty cool.

I thought it was 'almost definitely' but it's still a great line and a great episode!
I think about that line "oh most definitely" so much. The way the actor delivered it was great!
I also love when George Michael is wadding up paper around the bottom of the stand, and Patrice says: "Oh, I'm definitely getting blamed for this."
Ah Patrice, the Flamer. Jokes within jokes within jokes....what a master class of comedy.
I remember watching Arrested Development when it first aired and thinking "Is that Ron Howard?!!". A pleasant surprise and I was hooked.
It’s so true. Arrested Development is a comedy masterpiece, but made so by having Ron Howard as the narrator. The distinct voice just brought it all together. Amazing.

Arrested Dev has one of the highest laughs per minute ratings of all time
For me the only other show that comes close in 'LPM' is 30 Rock.

My dad died unexpectedly when I was 13. The Fonz and Richie Cunningham helped me believe I’d be ok and life would get better. And it did.
Ron Howard being the narrator on Arrested Development led to what is probably my favorite joke on any sitcom ever. Lindsey calls Michael and Opie- do-gooder or something, and the narrator says “Lindsey doesn’t know what she’s talking about and she had better watch her mouth.”

Arrested Development has more jokes per minute than most stand up acts. The original 3 seasons are so amazing. I think Parks & Rec took a big leaf out AD's writing style to allow for a similar non-stop jokes that forces rewatching. Since he passed recently will add, I cannot think of Carl Weathers without saying, "Woah, woah, woah, lotta meat left on that bone. Throw it in a pot, mix in some veggies, some broth... Baby, you got a stew goin!" RIP Jessica Walter, too. No one else could possibly have inhabited Lucille Bluth.

Arrested Development was awesome for so many reasons, but the thing I hope I never forget is the business card for Tobias that said "Analrapist" on it. I laughed so hard at that I had to pause the show for about 10 minutes (not exaggerating) so that I didn't miss what came after that.
And then Tobias "upgraded" to "ANUSTART." Lol.

Watching Ron speak is a lesson in respecting a room. He's not only engaging in the way he discusses a topic, but he looks around at everyone as he speaks. It's just a very cool, natural thing that not everyone grasps when they're talking to a group of people.
Arrested Development is my favorite. I always loved the unique style of packing so many little jokes into so little time. I can't even imagine enjoying the show to its fullest when Netflix didn't exist, cuz I rewatch it a few times catching new jokes in there. Such a good show and Ron is legendary as the narrator.
Arrested Development is one of the best shows ever. Even in the last seasons where it's a little meh, I still really like it.
But The first 3 seasons were borderline perfection. I still laugh at "get rid of the Seaward". "I'll leave when I'm good and ready."
I was commuting back home from Chicago on a packed Metra while watching that episode on my laptop with headphones, and I started howling and laughing so hard at “the Seaward” line that every person in that full train car stared at me like I was insane, and all it did was make me laugh harder to the point where I was crying and very likely peed a little.
Arrested Development was how I got introduced to Ron Howard, granted due to how young I was I didn't know who he was at the time but over the years I've become more familiar with his work.
I'm still grateful he brought the story of Apollo 13 to life. It's such a remarkable pairing of story and talent to directing. Howard was perfect for that project.

Didn't know Conan was that big of Arrested Development, i could here him talk about it all day
Whenever he had someone from AD on his Late Night (and he had pretty much everyone, multiple times) he allways said something like "for my money, the best comedy out there and maybe the best ever". He allways was a strong advocate for AD, even when it was on the brink of cancelation (that is, every season).
"Sit on it Howard!" Was the greatest thing ever lol.
The narrator helped tie all the crazy things happening together.
I’ll always like season one of Happy Days the best because it was shot more like film and the actors were restrained. Fonz was more a tough than a god. Probably the best episode of that series was Richie going to give Fonzie his Christmas gift and seeing him by himself in his garage heating up a can on a hot plate. The humanity of that episode was worth all the laughs that series got over the years.
The first 3 seasons of ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT and first 3 seasons of COMMUNITY are simply as good as it gets for post-2000s television comedy

Arrested Development is legendary
Watch Conans face as Ron is telling the narrator story. He is so enthralled. This is what puts him above the others. His genuine love of comedy and television.
We all owe great thanks to Ron Howard for making Arrested Development happen.
Comedy perfection indeed. I'd be hard pressed to think of anything funnier and more creative than Arrested Development.
It's really too bad so many people missed Arrested when it was first on TV. Luckily a lot of people in the industry loved it so it kept going despite poor ratings.
I remember "forcing" friends to borrow the DVD of the first season, and they all became big fans after watching that.
I also forced my friends to watch it and they mostly didn't like it lol. It was only when it came out on Netflix that suddenly they all became fans. It was ahead of its time.
Ron is not only a great actor and not only in the right spot the right time. He is super smart.
Andy Griffith, Happy Days, Night Shift, SNL, Simpsons, Conan Must Go, Late Night, Arrested Development are responsible for so many laughs in my life. I also love that they have seemingly stayed away from the cesspool of Hollywood.
Listening to this whole episode felt like an Arrested Development narration. I kept waiting to hear “Conan was on his way to Arizona…”. How about an episode of Conan O’Brien Must Go with Ron Howard narrating!
I love how Ron makes sure to make eye contact with everyone at the table. When I was a young man trying to learn how to navigate social interactions, that was a hard lesson. People like it when you make them feel included and it's such an important part of being a good communicator. Of course once I learned that lesson, I started making friends suddenly and shook off that shy little boy I'd been my whole life. Seeing his dedication to engage with each person in his presence must make directing a shade or two easier than someone who is more reserved.

Thank God for Ron Howard being born, what an incredible life and talent and reach he’s had for billions of us
I remember when Happy Days transitioned to being performed in front of an audience. "Happy Days Was Performed In Front Of A Live Audience" was the first narrated disclosure of any situation comedy that I personally can acknowledge, although there were other Sit-Coms that were that never had this initial announcement (The Mary Tyler-Moore Show, Maude, All In The Family, etc.). The tone of the show changed, and not just with the Fonzi character becoming more of a focus. The initial season's shows centered around Howard's character Richie Cunningham, and was more of a reflective experience in Richie's young life as a high school teenager learning how to become a young man.
But once the show went before a live audience, the show became more boisterous, slap-stick in it's comedy approach. I guess performing on a live stage required the actors to be louder with their projections, and that changed the "personality" of the show from an introspective life-lesson of a boy growing into a man, to straight sit-com comedy.....
This is such a great watch!

Haven’t had a tv in years. Only shows I miss are; South Park, Craig Ferguson, Arrested Development, & My Name is Earl.
3 of these are in my top 10 shows. Best go find out what Craig Ferguson is all about.
Craig Ferguson was recently on Tom Papa's podcast. Seems Craig has a podcast of his own & is working on a new book.
To be fair, Ron Howard was in American Grafitti, too, which was also a huge hit. So Happy Days shouldn't be that much of a surprise.

I used to come home from kindergarten and watch happy days at lunch. This was the 80s so was reruns but was good old fashioned comedy. Who else misses those days?

Arrested Development is still my favorite comedy of all time. Like Conan said, such a dense show and almost every line and visual has a joke in it. Takes multiple viewings to just catch them all.

Using Ron as the narrator was so perfect. Here was this goofy show starring a former child actor who up till that point hadn't really done anything anyone had paid attention to in at least a decade, and then you hear the iconic voice of one of the biggest directors in Hollywood and it was just such a hilarious surprise. And then you kinda think maybe it's just for the pilot and he keeps going. It was one of many running gags on that show that just get funnier and funnier. Brilliant.

I've just started rewatching this show after being a huge fan when it was new. All the homophobia and transphobia is cringe now but so much of it is still so good
