It's all about our attitude and behavior. A pup is nothing but a reflection of his human parents. Meaning, being kind and understanding to your pet (among other things) will create a confident, self assured and warm pup.

Omg my dad and my grandma did that too. I was trying to jump in the pool and knew how to swim a little like I won’t drown but still wouldn’t consider knowing how to swim. My grandma pushed me in and I was crying so hard.
After my parents failed miserably with our last dog with socializing her with other dogs and people, I took it much more seriously with our current puppy and he's handling it really well. It's important to give them as much experience as possible so they aren't petrified of everything. Especially smaller dog breeds which are anxious to a fault.
