I'm impressed! When I first saw this build, I honestly didn't think it would look good. But now that it's coming together, I'm liking it more and more. You both do outstanding work! In Rust We Trust!
Man that Stude is sweet! I can really get a feel for the lines and size out in the driveway, Its awesome. Nice work Kerwood, thanks for sharing you two :-)
it was trash.. . the guy selling it bragged about how good it ran when he drove the car home.. but when Jim tore it down.. it had some kind of issue.. cant remember for sure but I "think" it was a spun bearing..
I hope Kerwood has petrolheads for neighbours that love the sound of open headers on a large v8. LOL It does sound nice and those housings for those tail lights look like they are made for it. Its coming along nicely.
Mmmmm, gives me goosebumps ! 😊 Makes me think of a big Grizzly bear when it's sitting there idling............ just before it attacks ! 😊 Thanks for sharing and take care. 👍
@@1963impala2drWaylonWire Naw, not really, just get started with them and can't seem to stop ! 😊 I only sleep about three hours a day so have the time to enjoy !
Great video presentation, all the camera angles make for a dynamic professional looking feature. The lighting was perfect also. Actually the video was done by a professional, good job! Beautiful car by the way! However IMHO, that poor old motor had a lot of its life removed without any coolant. The cylinder walls probably are blue and the rings have lost their temper. Also, without any added rpms, the cam and piston skirts had minimum lube applied. The heads may have a little twist here and there internally. I may be totally out to lunch on this observation, but my experience in buying 'dry run' eBay engines have proven otherwise. Anyway, 1963impala2dr, I am a huge fan and admire your work and life style. Great Vid!!!!!!
the engine was never allowed to get hot.. or even overly warm. I know it appears otherwise in the video but the engine was shut off for long periods of time between starts. people dont realize that I literally had hours of footage and it took me 6 hours over two days to edit it. remember we made a run to the parts store which took 40 minutes but only about 6 seconds in the video. Old Jim built racing engines for years and years. he knows the limits but you are certainly entitled to your opinion.
How are you cooling/lubing the mechanical seal in the water pump? How are the heads remaining cool ,as much as it has ran and been revved? I'm not picking on it..., I'm genuinely curious. I'm pretty sure the thermostat housing has no hose on it .I'd be scared that the heat would bring about loose valve seats due to the dissimilar metals of the heads and the seats, with no coolant
i know you're not picking on it and when I watch the video back.. I can see how it might appear to be enough run time for concern but its all done with smoke and mirrors. I had literally "hours" of footage. It took me 6 hours over a two day span to edit all that footage and condense it down to what you see here. it was never allowed to get hot. (ol Jim knows his stuff, besides... if you knew the grip with which he holds his money, you would know he would never risk damaging his $7k investment :) The cameras were off for long periods of time while we did other things between starts.. (remember we went for a trans fluid run which took 40 minutes in real time but probably 30 seconds in the video. lol ) thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.
i can tell you 2 mins of run time is to much with out cooling. when i had to drop my drive belt on my 496 8.1L to find a tapping knocking sound it would boil the colant inside in just 2mins with out the water pump turning
1963impala2dr Oh yeah it's really good video camera work all your videos are good it's like we are there right along with you at least that's how I feel your humble in the video's that's why I like to watch because you film cool stuff like from an Artist eye 👍

Way to go Kerwood the '27 is looking fine. That engine sounds great for a 502 BB if that isn't enough power I don't know what is lol Funny I always keep a small roll of baling wire in my truck just in case.
haha.. yeah..probably 20 to 30 people have suggested that..nobody seems to realize that the old 1927 frame would twist up like a pretzel under the 630 lbft of torque the v12 produces.. besides, I have plans for that v12! "wink" stay tuned!
I knew you boys were up to something! Lol. Those tail lights fit like they were made for it. Good job. Now he’s really gonna get the itch to finish it.!
Oh yeah, that's wut I'm talkin bout. That there rod is ready for sum burn outs. Congrats Kerwood, xln't job. That's a fine buggy you built. I'll bet when it was new it was probably parked in the same kind of garage too. It looks right at home.

no sir.. she''s tight! Kerwood bought that 502 crate brand new and had it in his stepvan that he used for work...but most of his jobs are here in town..so that engine has very few miles on it.. he sold the van and kept the engine.. boy are we glad he did!! :)

I like it! Long front end, wide stance, shortened cab? Chopped top. Not following the lowered trend. I’d massage those rear fenders to match the tires (looking from the rear) maybe leave an inch or so of rubber outside. Will it have a hood? What kind of wheels are planned? Man, so much potential and a great start. Thumbs up a$$hole. Lol (love the sign)

I agree!!

awesome. love the head light size tailights. he's gettin her done.
It has a nice sounding idle. And plenty of room in the front of the engine it reminds me of the Munster mobile. Tails lights are beautiful.

Gotta love it, bunch of guys blowing off the yard work and honey-do's to work on the rat rod!! Giddy-up

Very cool to see it move under it’s on power. Have much respect for all the camera work and editing.
Totally COOL! Never thought of just moving the cowl back on a 4door. Love it !!!!!

what a magnificent looking monster ! You can tell this man's got great taste
So I can see the cab has been chopped but, has it been shortened also? The frame looks really long. Looks great though and sounds awesome.
MrBeezweez Weezy. Drivers door and b piller were missing , so removed pass door and b piller. Moved cab back 30 ins
I like the profile. It kinda gives me a top fuel dragster vibe.
Are those old Harley wheels on the front? This thing is really cool. Straight out of an Ed Roth cartoon.
no, they are old wire spoke ford wheels. thanks!
Sounds real good. Great work.

Looking at that engine compartment makes me wonder if maybe someone's been eyeballin that V12 of yours!
right! but i have a frame that will!

I'd bet Kerwood could fit that 12 cylinder of yours nicely on that long front end. Good video & nice Rat.
