Once a friend told me he read Brian May was into role-playing games and since there were no song credits in the CD edition I have I thought all these fantasy songs were writen by him, much to my surprise it was Freddie. Queen's first three albums are amazing.
I saw this performed around early 1974 at the Locarno Ballroom aka ‘The Mecca’ in Sunderland. There were two spotlights chasing each around the backcloth - a taste of the theatricality of later performances by the band. I was a big fan of both Queen 1 and 2 also ADATR and ANATO but later albums, for me at least, lost a certain edgy quality. I always saw them as a progressive rock band. The Mecca was big on prog rock having hosted Hawkwind and Wishbone Ash at about the same. Happy days. A gig, several pints and a bag of chips on the way home for less than a tenner.
Wow what the hell. If I told someone my favourite song was called Ogre Battle, Queen wouldn't be what they thought. Queen were fuckin nerds, I love them
Remember, this was the band which was panned by critics in 1978 for titling their latest album, "Jazz", because he stated Queen wasn't inventive enough for jazz music. He obviously never heard this album. A true masterpiece! Granted, not jazz music, but far more inventive than most of their contemporaries at that time.
A live version of this can be heard on the Queen album 'At the Beeb'. The album was recorded in 1973.. a pleasure hearing a lot of material off their first albums. The album was released in 1989. The sports in that enough to see them live 3 times. 77-80-82.
Queen were quite heavy on the first 2 albums before they started making pop singles. Heavy drum, basslines and riffs and solos. Definitely up with Sabbath, Zeppelin and Purple

This song along with seven seas of ryhe are set in a fantasy world that Freddie made for a fantasy story beacuse life is awesome
I feel like most of the songs in Queen II are set in a fantasy world
@@fruitchewx127 they are? They’re set in Rhye which is an fantasy world Freddie and his sister made up
Queen II itself is set on the fantasy world of Rhye
Lily of the valley
Once a friend told me he read Brian May was into role-playing games and since there were no song credits in the CD edition I have I thought all these fantasy songs were writen by him, much to my surprise it was Freddie. Queen's first three albums are amazing.
j s yeah I've read those rumors about Brian too 😂
Considering he has a PhD in physics, he's probably a gigantic nerd lol
He has a room in his house full of Star Wars figurines, so yeah. A huge nerd.
+Mister Apple huh? isnt in bycicle Brian May wrote "we dont like star wars"?. he like startrek...and
+Nurlinda F Sihotang Freddie wrote that one.
Wow, wow what a rainbow of awsome sounds!
What is this beginning
@@-gavuel-7756 a godlike beginning
Queen were fuckin nerds, I love them
Love 70's Queen
Any that Freedy sings and Queen play is masterpiece, pure genius.
That song is fabulous. The orchestrated structure and the talent. It puts pictures in your head
Wow, this is the very first time I've ever heard this, its f'ing incredible, I've got to hear the whole album
BRIAN'S GUITAR AND ROGER'S FALSETTO ARE EVERYTHING.... INCLUDING FREDDIE'S SCREAMS
A live version of this can be heard on the Queen album 'At the Beeb'. The album was recorded in 1973.. a pleasure hearing a lot of material off their first albums. The album was released in 1989. The sports in that enough to see them live 3 times. 77-80-82.
03:36 THAT VOICE!!😍😍😱
someone make a video of this song using Shrek footage please.
YES
good point thinking
from the fourth one, with all the orges going to battle and shit
"orges" going to battle and shit. Very special verbage my silly, poorly educated friend...
That was a low blow.
3:35 I love that beautiful voice
Same 💓💓💓💓
OMG what a track by the MAJESTIC QUEEN. Freddie had a god given voice miss you Freddie
Mercury composed the song, guitars also!!!
Queen were quite heavy on the first 2 albums before they started making pop singles. Heavy drum, basslines and riffs and solos. Definitely up with Sabbath, Zeppelin and Purple
Dear God,this is a masterpiece of guitar.
Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest voices 28th a great vocal range in rock history and made qiueen one of the top stadium band's ever.I seriously doubt his vocal talent will ever be topped for a while
So much epic!
awesome
+Андрей Мельников привет бойка
One can never o.d. on epicness! XD
Together with The Who they were the kings and QUEENS of Rock Opera, progressive rock at it's finest.
Thus, the birth of Power Metal and Speed Metal...!!
Greatest song from Queen's greatest album an that includes all their albums period.
3:32 chills everytime
Ikr 💓💓💓
I know everyone loves BoRap and a night at the opera but for me this is their greatest album and triumph I love it
One of Queen's absolute best songs!
Ogre Street is the forbidden slums of London, England. They should've played this when Jonathan was fighting Speedwagon.
One of my favourite songs and the reason why I play guitar!
Polyphonic sent me, thank you!
That was GLORIOUS!
Whole album is flawless
Now the battle is on
Yeah yeah yeah! :))))
+Андрей Мельников In Undisputed You never listen Queen stuff :)
DRACARYS!!!
Such an underrated song! One of my many favourites!
It sounds best with headphones. For some reason it just doesn't have the same feel listening to it on the car stereo. Definitely one of my personal favorites and is the go to (next to Great King Rat) as the song used to prove that Queen was a Heavy Metal band early on, first 3 albums most definitely. My own mother admitted to that, and she hated heavy metal.
only queen can do a hard rock and at the same time a relaxing song
It’s honestly so cool how queen songs have so many layers
They're like onions
Alyssa Young yeah, or cakes. People like cakes. Nobody likes onions.
Ogre Battle: The March Of The Black Queen
Tactics Ogre: Let Us Cling Together
Ogre Battle 6: A Crazy Little Thing Called Love.
It would have been great, trust me.

I love this song, Laddeh!
i'm only -4 years old (i was born in 2024) and i think this song is very underrated. people need to give other queen songs a chance, not just bohemian rhapsody!!! i was born in the wrong generation :(
@@casualpickles5165 no
Marc Ajax I know what younmean! I hate people who only listen to stupid another one bites the dust, your a good man and I subscribe to your channel, people shouldn’t judge queen just because they’ve only heard the first few songs! There are many good and great queen songs out there people just need to open up there eyes it’s honestly stupid, btw I think u made a typo u meant 2004 instead of 2024 lol
@@lilfryy5614 No he meant 2024. Go watch his latest video, all will be explained...
@@MAOG333 I came here because of your latest video
Oh my gosh so relatable :(((
Okey? Why i didn't know about this song? This is masterpiece no it's a gods work ❤, but its so underrated
And i mean Roger can do two voices in one moment ( 3:21 ) - his strong voice and screaming girl voice
Queen songs are like onions
They have layers..
The beginning is the end of the song backwards..if you have it on vinyl.
Iceman 8 my record player doesnt go backwards :(
This is in my personal opinion the absolute best song Queen ever did.
Well I never knew there where a song about my street.
"Ogre Street" is most likely not referencing Ogre Battle, since Araki's references are often much more blatant. Ogre Battle doesn't match at all. There's no basis to assume the "Ogre" is referring to this song any more than it's referring to the mythical monster, since Ogre Street is a dangerous, "cursed" place.
@@manuelmateo3392 but the chapter / episode was called ogre battle
@@AffyMoon It wasn't called "Ogre Battle", it was called "The Battle on Ogre Street". It doesn't directly reference the song, and the name could just as easily be referring to fight that goes down. "Ogre" in and of itself can also be used as an adjective, so there's no real basis to say it's a reference.
@@manuelmateo3392 oh thanks for the correction.
@@AffyMoon NP.
People disliked the vid because they were banging their heads and they accidentally pressed the dislike button.
Yes found the explanation!
I think that might be it 😂
No its the RUclips algorithm, all videos have to have dislikes
EXACTLY Right
🤣🤣🤣
ogre battle is from their second album
one of the few songs Freddie composed on guitar
2nd album, Queen II
