With the title of "Inside" the Fokker 100, I really expected you to show the inside of the aircraft. Would have been cool to see what they considered a "Luxury" interior in the 90's
It looked just like a normal smaller sized jet on the inside. It had two seats on one side, three on the other, along with a small number of First class seats in the front. First class was a 2-2 config with likely only 8 seats (just guessing on the #).
Luxury compared to a little turboprop commuter on American Eagle I guess? All their jets were nicknamed LuxuryJets or LuxuryLiners. Kind of like when Western Airlines called their DC-10 the "Spaceship".
@@kona702 Exactly 8 seats for F on American and USAir (later US Airways)'s configs.
@@DanknDerpyGamer Cool thanks! My home airport is Philadelphia so I flew US Air a lot.
Yeah I remember these Fokkers. This Fokker was one of the best jets ever. What a great Fokker.
🤣🤣🤣🤣😍🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
😁🤣🤣🤣
lol
Add mother at the start
Unfortunately in 2004, American CEO said, "We got to get rid of these Fokkers!"
Pain. Glad to see them still flying in Australia though
@@KR-KR Australia has weird planes. They also fly the BAE 146. kind of like Canada's turboprop and 737-200s
Saying age was one of the reasons for retirement is compleet b.s
Fokker build the F100 until 1997. The first one was build in 1987! So 2004 means 13 years!!
😂😂
Beautiful plane, deserved more success
Still very successful in Australia! In fact I'm flying one tomorrow
Really missed out on the title. I would have titled it “look at this Fokker”. Or “meet the Fokker” or “this old Fokker”
Flew AA's F100 ORD-OKC regularly to visit my in-laws in the 90s. Always enjoyed the F100, especially sitting in the rear near the engines.
I flew a lot to Ohare also. Always got an MD-80, never a fokker. Oh well.
"Fokker"
What a nice name
Dutch name, and in Dutch it’s not that weird
Anthony Fokker
It's the whole companys name
Jazeker
imagine an American said that
Flew on AA F-100s many times, good little plane and a great alternative to turboprops available at the time.
Yes, that Fokker. I remember
The Fokker 100 in the AA livery looks so so hot
bro doesnt even hesitate saying the name😭😭💀
What do you mean?
why would he hesitate
When you say the word fokker it sounds like fuc-
Fokker references to the name of the Dutch founder, Anthony Fokker.
@@kaasdonut-gamer i know tha
The Fokker 100 was, and still is a beautiful aircraft!, especially in the AA delivery. I flew on one, operated by BMI in 2002, between LHR and CDG. Other than the fast and extremely steep take of from LHR, I really enjoyed my flight on the aircraft.
These were great planes! I spent a huge amount of time on the F-100 going between Stewart Airport and RDU/ORD in the late 90s on AA and Midway Airlines !
My father had JUST made Captain on the F-100 at American airlines in 2003... Needless to say he was unfortunately back in the right seat soon after. He flew on the Super 80 after that.
I flew as a Captain on the Fokker 100 for six years during my career at American. Loved flying it, and miss it. As an in-house joke we nicknamed it the “Barbie Jet.”
No, but I remember flying on Horizon Airlines Fokker-28 :)
I have to tell everyone, I live bye someone who owns some Fokker-100! It’s kinda interesting driving by them and the Md-80’s there!
The old American livery is so great.
A little version of the MD-80 plane :)
Former AA f100 flew with us at OceanAir, in Brazil! It's a great airplane!!!
The first jet I ever flew in! Followed by an MD-80 for the return trip. I will always love and miss both.
I dont get why airlines just scrap these airplanes. They are legends
I know right?😢
Fokker became internationaly well known because of his lastest fighter plane design the Fokker D.VII in WW1. It was used by Germany 🇩🇪 as a first line interceptor and was feared and respected by the Allies. After hostilities ended the Fokker D.VII was specifically mentioned in the Treaty of Versailles to be handed to the victorious Allies to be destroyed or to study its aerodynamics in 1919.
The problem became, with the bankrputcy of Fokker, that there was no customer service from the manufacturer, and no spare parts to buy.
American decided to retire the fleet, because it had to fabricate spare parts. That is expensive and time consuming, when compared to ordering parts from Boeing, Airbus, Embrear, or Bombardier/Canadair.
It’s such a neat plane. I love planes like that.
Now they're all in Australia 🇦🇺 flying for Virgin and Alliance.
Virgin Australia has them, probably these ones
@@andrewyoung3299 just read that Virgin will be phasing them out
Also they're still active in other part of the planet..umm..the Iran
@@carnell7785 yes
@@carnell7785 I’m Persian
I don't, but my dad remembers those fokkers.
So devastating how alot of historic aircraft companies died off
Flew American during their short lived campaign of extra legroom. It was fantastic.
Have flown the 100 across Europe several times (Austrian & Helvetic, while they still operated them) Was always fun to basically go back in time as none of them were fitted with modern cabins!
The way blud said fokker💀
Fokker sounds like… yeah
I flew on the F-100 with USAirways. . 💖✈✈💖
Miss it so much. One of the best in my opinion.
In 1996, the F100 had the biggest accident in Brazil, TAM 402.
So?
They still use them in Queensland Australia
It's pretty much just Australia and Iran that still fly them.
Alliance has easily the biggest fleet, followed by Qantas and Virgin.
Yes i remember! I thoroughly enjoyed these “pond skippers” for toer 2 regional airport/cities.
I enjoyed them as they were nimble and could frt to cruising altitude fast.
Would fly out of Rochester or Buffalo NY often, so these were a staple.
I never knew they operated Fokker 100s, Great thing to learn!
At one point AA and US Air were #1 and #2 in the world with the number of F100s in their fleet.
“……….. those Fokkers were flying Messerschmidts!”
I guess, props to the dutch
This video should have been titled “Meet the Fokkers”
The way you said Fokker💀
More fitting title would have been “a look at the outside of the Fokker 100” anyways, nice plane.
Never flown in one but I've seen them around before wether it's cheap cargo companies or cheap airlines it's a pretty cool airplane. It may be old but I don't underestimate that this thing is still as capable as newer planes if kept on a good maintenance schedule and treated right this thing is really good.
I remember the America West F-70s’! Only F-70s’ to operate in North America!
I remember when AA had nothing but first class seats on the Fokker 100 from Dallas Love Field to Los Angeles. I took a friend who had never flown before to Los Angeles and we did all the touristy things. It was a great trip.
I believe they had 56 seats total in this configuration.
Yeah that plane almost at all movies
“Fokker”💀
Alliance Airlines in Australia still flies the F100. Haven't seen them yet but they are nice looking aircraft
I ride these jets now operating for Qantas 😍😍
Flew on one these from Chicago to Atlanta in late 90s for Christmas break… smooth ride though snowy conditions.
I wonder what those Fokkers were like to fly on?
Can’t even keep a straight face while typing this 😂
It was a very quiet aircraft if I remember correctly. Didn't roar like the DC9 or MD80
MD-80 is actually quieter compared to the DC-9.
“fokker” sounds like fujicker
Flying in one of these tomorrow with a different airline
Fokker got Fokked!
By Daimler!
Video thumbnail is a 737??? 🤦♂️
It’s not
I don’t know that American had Fokker 100s between 90s and 2000s
I fly on one of these Fokkers every Thursday
I called it the milkshaker!
Those planes got a terrible reputation in Brazil with TAM Airlines.
Maybe due the airline? Fokkers are great until you abuse them i think
I love that livery
I'm pretty sure I flew on this w. my grandparents to Alaska in 2002. Looks exactly like my very first flight
Ok the company really has to change their name
Why the portrait mode???? I thought that mode was just for folks who want to take pictures of themselves and can't figure out how to turn their phones sideways.
Flown quite a lot with KLM Cityhopper and enjoying it
American configured some of these as all first class for direct flights out of Dallas Love Field to do direct competition with a startup airline out of that same airport - i flew this configuration a couple of times.
It was a great regional jet from the hubs and had a lot of room compare to American eagle turboprops
If you look at flight radar over Western Australia there’s Fokkers flying around all day everyday for qantas and alliance
*Outside. Fixed it for ya.
rip fokker 100
Nice misleading title
They just look like MD-80s
No, it doens’t. A 717 look like a Maddog.
Focke-wulf 190
I remember the US Air f100s
What a Modern fokker we have here eh?
Didn’t even show the cabin.
Oh nice
Yes
I flew some ex AA birds in Brazil at Avianca Brasil/Oceanair
Them Fokkers that forgot how to take off when ice was on their wings?
No aircraft will takeoff with ice on their wings.
@@oadka And that's why I work in IT
@@MrAndinho1 f28, you should know if your working in aviation. Btw it isn't the fault from Fokker
I worked at an American hub in the 90's. We had several Fokker 100 flights a day and I fueled many of them. The single point fuel receptacle was under the right wing and the fuel control panel was in the right main gear area.
He literally said the F word
Yes, because that's exactly how it is pronounced in the manufacturer's native tongue (Dutch).
Old vidio😢😢
911 💀💀💀
Flew on them a few times.
How come I never knew aa had fokker 100s
Sounds like the F****r 1000 (the way u pronounce it)
Gewoon goed materiaal
An amazing mother fokker
Md-80 America airlines was better no offense.
why is bro pronouncing it like that 💀💀💀
The Fokkers
But nice vid
The what 😂
❤️
When the Airbus a320 and the dc9 gets messed up:
Basicly when they try to look like a fokker
8.4 th like
Excuse me what did you say?
Did u here what I heard?????
