I love that you're honest, unlike many other avian youtubers that act like they don't make these mistakes and they are superior to you as a bird keeper. I raised 4 baby birds when I was 13 and I gotta tell you,it was a crazy process. I made a bunch of mistakes, but I've learned from them. Now this November,my birdies are gonna be 2 years old. All 4 of them are healthy birds with ALOT of personality. They're so mean sometimes, but when they aren't grumpy, they are very funny, cute, and loving. Thankyou for not being condescending like other pet youtubers are. Loved this video and your bird. By the way, Dewey (one of my birds) loved this video too. She just got done taking a bath and she was sitting on my shoulder watching this with me. She likes your bird.
You are a wonderful bird keeper, everyone makes mistakes. Being willing to admit you made mistakes and to do better is what counts. I love your honesty. 🥰🥰🥰

Update ^-^ 8 months later and my lovebird really likes me and even flies to my hand on his own :D he doesn't really like cuddles but he lets me play with him yaay
@@YourFriendlyShapeShifterFriend Tbh my bird don't bite me, I just got them on Wednesday. They open their cage and fly around but they don't particularly like me being to close. I've gotten bitten, maybe once or twice but it was when I was feeding them sunflower seeds. They didn't even bite to hard, just a little nibble like they mistook my finger for a seed and they stopped almost immediately. Most of the time they open their mouths as warnings to me but I always just make it aware I know they're upset and provide them with more treats and they calm down. It could be an issue with how they where raised with their previous owner/shop.
A better thing to do to your lovebird if he bites you really hard is to apply a little bit of pressure on his beak but not hurting him. This will give him a negative reaction to biting. Also I respect you for recognizing a mistake of hitting your bird. Your a good man sir
I think the best thing to do if any type of bird bites you, set it down on the floor and leave the room. This shows the bird that if it bites you, it will understand that it won’t get any attention if it bites you. So the conclusion is your bird will stop biting you.
Haha, while I was watching your video my lovebird came over to the computer screen and tried talking to you! This is a good video, as a bird owner I liked how you mentioned that patience is key! It takes a while but you really have to be observant to understand the birds needs and personality.
it makes me feel relieved that im not the only person who has made mistakes with my birds. And im not a bad person, Im simply alive and so is the bird. Thankyou
you are a good person :) And hey, you can help your bird overcome their fear of hands by training them and teaching them that hands is where the treats come from! Also I subbed hehe
Ok so I never and I mean never, make comments on RUclips. However, I gotta give this guy props man... it's really hard to admit your mistakes, but telling it on RUclips takes some balls. I have a lot of respect for that kind of honesty...kudos to you young man!
I’m so happy to watch these videos. I have had my parrot for 4 months now and i make discoveries of his cute and not so cute behaviours every now and then and it melts me. I honestly grew a unique and immense love and connection with him and is such a blessing! Thanks for sharing this !!!
I really appreciate your honesty and willingness to admit that you’ve made some mistakes. Your companion parrots are very lucky to have you as their human companion. I would love to see you make a video about what you feed your birds. I would imagine that lovebirds have some different nutritional needs than other parrots including your cute budgie. I have subscribed to your channel and I look forward to seeing more of your videos in the future. I also think you were delightful young man!
I actually like you a lot! I've been trying to find a reliable youtuber to help me tame a lovebird when I get one if i get one and I quite like you! You admit your mistakes like a pro and I'm honestly really proud of you and I want to watch you more!
Love anyone who is willing to admit AND share they made mistakes! I agree, my bird liked the loud noises I made when he bites...so we avoid it now... but biting is also how they communicate- bites are part if the relationship imho. We also keep our cage up high- our Monk is very territorial and he loves his own space. Thanks for sharing!!
Plz try to make videos on other topics of lovebird as their are really very less videos of RUclips about love birds... I also have two Fisher love birds.. So I want more videos like this... 😁
Thank you so much for your honesty, I am looking after my neighbours birds & this was very helpful. So many people show you the "Instagram" version when I really needed the full honest picture!
Tysm for making this. It honestly makes me feel so much better. I just got my cockatiel 4 days ago. He hates me, but at least he's willing to eat infront of me!
Cute video. Takes guts to admit mistakes. Lovebirds are SO intelligent and require lots of attention and care. People do not realize it sometimes before getting one. We raise them and it takes a lot of time to raise a tame and well adjusted pet lovebird.
I just got a lovebird and watching these videos have been awesome. I am 3 yrs late to the bird world but hey. Better late than never. Thanks for the educational content!
Thank you so much for you honesty. I too have made several mistakes with my birds, once my bird flew away and I chased her around the neighborhood for 4 hours until she got tired and let me catch her. Then a few months later I was cleaning her cage and assumed she would stay at the top when I took the bottom part to dump out but when I came back from throwing it away, my dogs had gotten to her ): it was the worst thing to ever happen. Then a few months later with my new bird, I was playing with her all morning and we were still working on bonding bc she was wild and I left some millet in her cage so she would go back in since I couldn’t catch her and I walked away and fell asleep for 30 min and when I came back she too was gone. It turns out my dogs had kicked open the back door. It’s crazy to me they could even catch her considering it would take me 20 minutes to capture her. It was all terrible but this kind of thing won’t happen 3 times, I have learned to be vigilant about ensuring that my dogs are locked away any time I have my future birds out.
I have important few words to say, you need to know... "You are amazing and very honest man"!! I love the way you deliver your message. Very educational too. I keep watching many of your blogs!!

Screaming when the bird bites you is also a mistake. It will keep biting just to get that sound out of you like out of a squeaky toy. It’s better to leave it a bit so that it understands by biting it’s gonna lose your attention.
I know I’m late but that’s actually not true. Lovebirds in flocks when one bites the other screams and flys away, they understand then that they hurt the other bird and shouldn’t do it again. Which is what I ended up doing. So whenever my lovebird bites me I Yelp and walk away. He understands that he hurt me and no longer bites. It’s not gonna work right away but with time he’ll no longer bite you
@@joesr31 each bird is different, lately I’ve learned that they can respond in the most creative ways to the same approach, so maybe the best thing is to adjust to the bird :)
