The grow spikes are coming soon (a few weeks) to Hydroland Amazon USA The end caps are available now. The end caps, floats spikes etc are available now at Hydroland AU
are you able to design a few more different size lengths of the grow spike all the way up to max bed size. my blueberrys are stuggling with the shorter spikes since they only have shallow roots
I harvested my first hydroponic pineapple back in October. My other two hydroponic pineapples are larger but haven’t fruited yet. I did them in a basic Kratky system (one tub for all three). The rain kept the tub topped off for the most part. The roots on them are incredible. Glad to see some more info on this on RUclips, when I “planted” them two years ago there was almost nothing about hydroponic pineapples, and none of it was in English, at least that I found. Cheers!
I was given 3 sections of plants that were going to be thrown away and managed to get about 25 pups all going strong now.. all in pots but only small pots.. I have been putting off potting on but I'm definitely due to do it soon..
Took me 3 yrs to get mine to fruit, it was grown in a pot and rather neglected but wow the flavour.Problem I find supermarkets often sell with tops cut off. Never had any that did not root.Good one Hoocho
Hoocho we need to work on a different end cap for the rain gutter grow systems as its really hard to maintain the float vale, mine blocks up every couple of weeks and its a pain to have to drain the gutter to get them out, we need a valve that can be disabled or something so we can easily remove the float valves for maintenance, there are also other types of float valves that you just drop in your water gutter which might be better as no screwing in required
I use different valves and it's a lot easier. Look for something like "QIXIN Automatic Water Level Control Valve, Float Valve, (3/4" Side Entrance) ". The bottom part is the floater, so you only need to drill a hole that fits, and use a 90° pipe adapter to feed the nutrient solution in the gutter
1540 patreons, thats insane i started to propagate some too with the OG video, but i live in germany and there is basically no chance to maintain them here without a heated greenhouse haha but just for the fun of it why not. Yes, pineapple is one of my most fav. fruits of all time. Sweet Sour, cells that burst i just love it i bought a slow juicer for them and the juice is so amazing
Agree, but would add that they go to an orangey colour once really ripe. I try to let mine get there but they get a bit frail on the plant and come off as soon as you look at them. Properly ripe you can smell them from six feet away. And yes, so can the possums. I have had success with those plastic stretchy mesh bags onions come it (use zip tie to bind up the ends) and recently found those cartons that wine six packs come in cover the plant really well once you are quite close to done. Properly ripe pineapple is a wonderful feed. I might have had some like that as a child, but I have not seen pineapples in shops anywhere near ripe for years, and they do not ripen further once off the plant (i.e., they do not make more sugars).
I always love your enthusiasm! My favorite thing about this system is that it doesn't require electricity. I currently grow lettuce in Kratky, but I really want to try my hand at the rain gutter grow system for other plants. Have you tried tomatoes in this system? I can't recall seeing you do that.
As they are bromeliads, what kind of orchard set up would be most well suited to arboreal pineapple cultivation? Any well known existing companion species? Maybe the branches of a spreading jackfruit tree? Maybe a few treenets for access?
How do you avoid salt buildup in the coco coir? I am doing this with chillies and I flushed the coco with plain rainwater the other day and the EC of the run-off was a bit over double what I was feeding them and pH was 7.2 when they are getting pH of 6. The rainwater I flushed them with has a pH of 6.2-6.5. I thought the pH would decrease as the EC increases, but not in this case. The plant isn't getting a full day of sun either and the pot has a white skirt on it to keep the medium cooler.
Trying to propagate a pineapple right now! Great timing. Once it roots, do you think I could split it down the middle and get two plants from one crown?
Well done mate! I remember watching the first video on the pineapples 🍍 I can’t believe it’s been 2 years wow😮 But how have you not gotten 500k subs yet baffling 😢
What is the benefit for diamond white over the Special T for these? Also I wonder how many litres worth of nutrients it took over the couple of years? Doesn't the plant die after fruiting?
Loved the video! Was just curious, do you think a similar grow spike setup would work well for potatoes? I watched one of your previous videos about growing potatoes, but this seems like it might be better if they can wick up the nutrients as needed and not saturate the medium they're growing in.
Looks amazing, thanks for sharing. One question. Will you make a video on your hydro houseplants? I see you have a lot of philodendrons, monsters, etc...I'm curious what nutrients you are using for them, EC level, things like that.
I was wondering why you didn't choose a dutch bucket system on a timer for this, and also you pineapples are not ripe as yet they have not turned yellow on the inside even this they taste great left longer they would taste better

I can't wait to own a house so I can really start growing properly..

Will be trying a pineapple/ginger beer!
Same! I told my wife she's not going to be able to see grass once we have one haha

Fully rooted mate! 😂

Have you tried making Pineapple Wine from the pineapple skins? Something for your other channel.
Let them turn yellow they will taste even better (but also be aware the critters will go after them!).

Lovely. Did so much want to see this video of the pineapples grow out.

interessante seu trabalho parabéns
Bro, just wait until they are yellow and ripe. Sooo good.

Hey Hoocho, you should totally make Tepache with all those Pineapples!
Yes!

Man your hydro content is the best. We’re not worthy!!🥹
How long did it take for them to grow and then fruit. I mean sowing to harvest period..

Loving it BIG DOG! I tried to grow a pineapple about a year ago in dwc. Definitely didn't work haha. Coco would definitely be the way to go with that

Only two years? Nice, ones j have jn ground can vary 2-4 years, veri from seasonal temps and rain fall..
Can you turn this into liquor
