Don't let the lack of software updates and support stop you from getting this if you can get it below $300 or even free from certain carriers, it's a really good experience and I'm hoping Motorola does a flagship stylus next year in 2025

The only thing that’s keeping me on the fence is the lack of updates. I can live with the one OS update, but 3 years of security updates isn’t enough. If they bumped it up to 5, I’d get it in a heartbeat.
Most people update their androids every 3 years so it's kinda in sync?

The lack of updates aren't as concerning as how inconsistent Motorola pushes them out. Security patches are always late or non existent if those are important to anyone. At least that's my experience.
This years stylus looks like the best one they’ve released. At $399 it’s the one of the most affordable phones and they upgraded the display and kept things like expandable storage and a headphone jack. Support, a proper ip rating and working on my carrier visible would’ve been nice. But for that price it may be the best budget to mid range phone you can get now.
I agree, I know the Pixel 8a and a55 eill be a slightl better in the camera and processing speed. But I think overall with the design with the vegan leather back, the thinner bezels, and also the camera is supposed to be improved as well. This is definitely at the top of the 2024 mid range phone list. I'm so tempted to get a scarlet red one lol.

The stylus is a banger addition. If I'm not seeing wrongly with my crusty Krabby eyes, these have a headphone jack. I call it hoax. Honestly pie, this is probably an ideal upgrade from a Note 9 in terms of newer software.
still you should consider software support and software experience even though motorola have decent hardware software support is bad compared to other phone makers and the software experience is horrible

A processor upgrade would've been great, but the snap 6 gen 1 is very snappy for midrange
Yeah it's either Samsung or OnePlus this year when it comes to software updates and newer chipsets. Snapdragon is always good but the 6 gen 1 is pretty dated now.
My 2023 moto g stylus 5g got the android 14 update yesterday. It's not my primary phone but it should be. It's a really good phone. My screen is super bright and easy to see in day light
does the notes app, the one that pops up when removing the pen, have option for lines like a notepad has or is it blank screen and free handing it?
also it would be kool if you could do a comparison vid with the 2023 5g stylus...?

Which ones are there? Dual SIM - E-SIM?
If possible it would be cool if you can compare or comment on the differences in camera quality (if any) vs. the Moto G Power 2024. EDIT: After researching it more looks like the Stylus 2024 has a 1.0 μm pixel size for the main camera vs. 0.64 μm for the Power 5G 2024 so the Stylus should be able to pick up finer details with less grain.

Great looking device! I have the Stylus 5g 2023 and this is definitely better looking. Hate to see Moto not include a Power brick with this model though.

Im thinking about swapping to this phone from a galaxy a54. I had a 2021 stylus, swapped to an iphone 12 about two years ago, and got my coworkers old a54 for free about a month ago because i needed a phone with more than the 12's lousy 64 gb of storage. My phone sports an exynos 1380 chip, which is slightly more advanced than the sytlus's, but i just LOVE motorola phones. They're so charming, and the chop to activate flash is such an awesome gesture. What would you guys do?
I don't think that this would be a bad phone to switch to. I have an a54 myself and I love it but I'm tempted to switch. The only negative I think is the software is only getting one update. I think you can get 2 and a half to 3 years of use before it starts to slow down from the old software. I say go for it man. I so tempted to get a scarlet wave one myself.
I got this on Friday. Picked up 2 different Poetic cases for it. I like it so far. The vegan leather smell is STRONG for the first few hours. It's fine now, almost non-existent. I am coming from a Sony Xperia 5ii, the geek bench test is a little slower, but I don't play games so I don't notice. The Bluetooth works well. I didn't need a stylus, it's cool and works well. This is my first Motorola phone since 2018, I had 3 between 2011 and 2018. The droid razr was my favorite phone ever, with the Sony being my second. I'll give this an honest try, the feel is what it is for a $400 phone, but with the $20 case on it I can't really tell the difference between this and my work iPhone. If the Sony Xperia's we're still being released in the States, or even if they would still work on Verizon I would have never given this a look. I really like having a 3.5mm and sd card slot. VLC media player is an awesome app for locally stored music.
Processor SOC is fine, I grumbled because I love the SD 8gen2 but the 6gen1 is just fine on this device
Please let us know how GPS works on this device. Previous Motorola phones I've had weren't that accurate.
YOU HAVE TO MAKE ALL KINDS OF REVIEWS FOR THIS PHONE. BUT about the camera, Motorola claims this phone to record at 1080p max. But didn't you see Tim Schofield's video? He tested out the video recording on the phone, it shows that it can in 4K. So when you make the camera review, pls make sure to mention that. I'm pretty Motorola needs to fix that in their website 😅.

Yes, I saw Tim's video. Motorola is bad about that. I am so glad they included 4K because I had a Moto g stylus 2022 and the 4K was really good in good lighting.

At the very top where it says FHD if you tap on it it will change to 4K it's only 30 fps but it's still good we have it on here.

Nice 8gb of RAM also in my opinion Motorola should give the Motorola stylus 2 or 3 software updates cause if you think about it the Motorola stylus line up isn’t really a budget phone with the features and the price they are

This is a very tempting device to buy and probably the best Moto G Stylus in years with all the upgrades. I believe Motorola says this device will get 1 OS update and 3 years of security updates. That’s not bad but Samsung and Google are way ahead and that’s the only downside to Motorola phones, not enough support. And I didn’t believe the caramel latte color was as nice but seeing your unboxing might’ve changed my mind 🤣
Literally the only turn off for me is that 1 OS update 😂, everything else is what I'm looking for in a mid ranger better than Xperia 10 Mk Vi.
It's hard to compete on software support against current giant of smartphone brands like Google, Samsung or Apple. But I'd appreciate any improvement like Sony who went from 2 to 3 OS update starting on this year line up.
@@GjordDeLad05I totally agree. Motorola is stuck on doing very little software support and they gotta get out of that mindset to compete with bigger phone manufacturers. Motorola offers great devices at reasonable prices with things others don’t have like the Moto actions. But the lack of support is literally making their phones unusable.
That's exactly how I feel! I really like Motorola phones but the lack of software support is a big issue. If they get better with that, I'd switch in a heartbeat.
It has to do something with a deal with Lenovo or Google or something like same thing with putting apps on the SD card....
@@aliciagilman428Motorola phones are more dependable to me than both Pixels & Galaxies but that software support is not long enough. Seems like it’d be easy enough to support a phone got more years. Even so, I’m still kinda thinking this phone might be a good buy.

It's definitely a nice looking phone. I guess my question would be using last year's processor and only one software update which kind of makes it a bummer. The Pixel 8A is 100 bucks more but it also comes with 7 years of support but who knows if that will really happen. I'm going to check it out but I think I'll just wait for a price drop it seems a little high at this point maybe $325 -350 it would be a much better deal

@@TechRight I use my my Moto edge Plus 2023 with Moto connect and my TV all the time. I've considered the down grade for the stylus. Or just as a backup

very nice color for the back. Im not a fan of the molded back how they do around the camera with the galaxy a53 look but with the fake leather it makes it look way better than the a53
Looks very good. Motorola finally designed a nice looking stylus. Hardware looks great too. Most of the specs seem topnotch. My only slight worry is the processor. It should be ok but I know you'll test it. Motorola stepped up their game.

Honestly this ain't a bad deal at all only down side is the 1 os update. If it was 3-4 year of os update this would be a no brainer.

There's two versions and the one that carries like metro and cricket offer have 128 of memory. The unlocked version from Motorola which is more expensive 🫰 has 256 of memory.

I just got an email on the 2024 edge. The specs are seriously a downgrade. The specs on the stylus are way better.
