What is the best way for bridge modeling in the 2D model in HEC-RAS? adding bridges as an obstruction layer to the DEM or adding them as break lines to the 2D model?
Thank for your videos, what I would like to know is how can you add a river inside the 2d area (the mesh) and actually put some initial flow in it or inital water wlevation (on the river only), before the flow from the boundary lines starts ?
You can set elevations as time series stage hydrographs at external boundary conditions. If the internal boundary condition line is drawn completely inside the 2D Area (cannot cross the boundary) you can add flow anywhere you'd like inside the 2D Area.
Korey I need your help maybe would you guide me how I can model drops in channels for dissipate energy. I already did, but in some sections the velocities values are weir, the velocities oscillate and in theory when I modelling many consecutive drops the velocities will be reduced along the structure but in my these velocities oscillate
You can click on any set of results, select "Add new results map layer" and select "Arrival Time" as a parameter to add. Lots of options available there.
Is there any way to set the 2d flow area to cover the entire terrain extent automatically? Or should I just get a pint of coffee and download 10 hours of podcasts? I'm trying to simulate 2d flow over an entire catchment, and using a clipped raster of the particular catchment as my terrain. I've tried polygonising my raster in QGIS and loading in the shapefile as my flow area, but the catchment extent is somewhat changed when turned into a HEC RAS terrain and so there's a lot of my flow area outside of my terrain.
I just started with Hec-Ras. I cant thank you enought with these valuable tutorials. Thank you so much!
Thanks Krey. Great little tutorial, really helped.
Thank you Krey! Excellent video :)
Great video ! Thank you so much for your tutorial :)
Life saver, thanks Krey!
Thank you
What is the purpose of this flow area and adding these cells with break lines??

Hello, I have the same issue. Did you figure out how to do it?
@@tahaamine No, still haven't figured that out, Please let me know if you find any solution

Krey, pls help me, how to turn on 2d flow area in ras mapper, :(

i think the HECRAS 6.0 BETA version cant do 2d area flow in RAS MAPPER, should change it to HECRRAS 5.07 :')
hi krey, this vedeo is very helpful. can you please show us how to compute the flood travel time in 2d model in Hecras?
This is very helpful thank you

Dear sir, we need to fill sinks in dem using hydrology tool in gis before we import it to ras mapper?
Hello, no need to fill a sinks. If have any more questions in hecras 2d, please contact me on designnetwork87@gmail.com

yes even im in needed of this so if you could reply we would consider it as a great help thank u so much for these wonderful tutorials
What is the need of projection file in HEC RAS?
Why we have to upload it at the start of Ras Mapper..? Can anyone tell me please.
if you don't define .prj file you cannot create cross section profile and can't generate backround imagery.
nice but you talk fast as hell :D
speaking is very complicated, it very difficult to understand what you are going to say, it is not clear
