1987 I just turned 21 and hitting the clubs looking sharp. The eighties were great time for music, fashion and hairstyles. They still look hip even though it's 1987. Love Berlin ❤ The guys were hotter back then too.

Ya know, people today ( 2020 ) bitch about the singers using the effects too much . . . great sounding cathedral reverb here on her vocals - BUT the important thing is that SHE HAS to belt that song out with THAT Much power to get the reverb to grab it right !!! Terri has always been an incredible vocalist !! These are no exception !
No, people today (also in 2020) bitch about singers using auto tune, and pitch correction. I've never heard anyone bitch about using vocal effects like reverb, chorus, or automatic double tracking. Artist have been using those types of effects since the 50's.

This is an amazing performance from the C3&P-era Berlin. The crowd is so stone cold though lol - how could you not move to this!
Before this gig, Berlin had only played one gig in the UK and that was 12 years before this one and the audience only knew them from the UK number one "Take my Breath away" which most would have regarded as very mainstream. The studio audience usually had no idea who the guest bands would be that evening and most would be expecting bands that were certainly not mainstream, more alt rock indie rock I guess.

I know the guitarist is Stef Burns he's played with wide range of artists and was a guitarist in Y & T for a number of years. Still very active. Love his playing on this track. I think this live version is so much more powerful than the album version

Johns from the OC aka Orange County next to LA. I believe he still lives there today. Originally formed in LA. Rick lives in Nashville the last I heard and David is near San Francisco I believe the rest are still in the LA area. It all depends on which version of Berlin you're talking about. They have had numerous members and they are scattered about.

Like Flames is my favourite Berlin song by a mile, but Terri miming the whistling is a bit embarrassing.
Anything but Take My Breath Away. It’s the only song of theirs I don’t like. No More Words and Like Flames are their two best songs. Terri Nunn was just as good as Pat Benatar and other female rockers but didn’t get as much notoriety. I think that is because the song Take My Breath Away was the song they became known for which turned off rock and roll fans and really didn’t represent what Berlin was. And Terri Nunn was a lot better than Blondie and better looking than Pat Benatar.
Tunes were ok but this album lacked "something". It sounded hollow.
Rather like french fries without ketchup or salt. Theyre ok....but not quite right.

At the time in the UK, Berlin were thought of as way more mainstream and this show seldom had mainstream acts on it, the audience wanted indie bands
Not entirely true, I was there. Berlin were really only known for Take My Breath Away. This show was broadcast near to school holidays and the usual university student audience were all at home. The place was not as full as it could be. My gf and I had been shopping and dropped in to find out about audience tickets for future shows and were invited in there and then, left our groceries at the reception desk. It was a great show, Julian Cope was on as well with his new track, World Shut Your Mouth.

@@chrishames2904 I can't be 100% sure if I recorded all the show, as 99% of my videotapes are elsewhere in a storage facility right now. But I'm fairly sure I recorded the full show, it was easier to record the full show, rather than make a dive for the VCR whenever a band came on that I wanted to record. The recordings still look good because at the time I would only use brand new tapes for everything I recorded, which cost a fair bit, initially £10 a tape, then about a fiver a tape by the mid 80s, my mum used to crack up at me wasting money on tapes, as did girlfriends, two give me the ultimatum, "The tapes or me". I've always enjoyed the cheesiness of Berlin but this really showed me something. This audience is so dead though this may as well have been shot in Berlin.
