Zephyr Z By 1821 Ming had not existed for over 100 years and Qing (a Manchu state) owned China. China had not been technologically more advanced than Europe for over 300 years and Europe was beginning to industrialise, something that allowed them to kick China around for the next 150~ years. China is not historically on top in most of the time periods covered in EU4.

Plus, considering their state and that of Japan at the beginning of the XVII th century, had Admiral Yi not existed, they might have got taken over by a several hundred thousand soldier strong Japanese army full of war veterans and equipped with modern weapons and led by talented generals, so yeah, they definitely weren't untouchable even in their own region (but if you wonder, this invasion was a failure thanks to a Korean admiral who just -yeeted- Yited their supply train, without him it is probable that the Japanese Empire would have formed a few centuries early)

honestly, Italy unified in 1500 would have been a superpower, considering that the richest bankers were there, one of the best navies with Genoa and Venice working togheter and not against each other and some of the best fighters (considering that 80 % of sword martial arts in Europe developed in Italy, believe it or not ) to make an army. It would be just idiotic to compare it to modern Italy unfied at the end of 19th century, it would have been a massively different nation and a very powerful one.

In the low middle age and during the rinacence Italy was the richest land of Europe but it isn't unificated so it was not so powerful and lost his power during modern times

There's no province for San Marino in EU4 so it would be way bigger than the real life San Marino unless you change the map's provinces.
The real error is giving Italy Corsica, which never belonged to Italy (well only 2 years in WW2...)

Aniway yes, Italy was for the first time in it's history unified by the Roman empire. However, the republic made a clear distinction between empire, and "Italia", the senatorial province of the empire. During the actual empire, the importance of Italy remained until the death of Aurelius and the rapid decrease in senatorial say in state matters.
That is why, Roman themselves made up the concept of "Italy"... initially has a cultural basis (which did not include all Italic people, but however included some non-italic people, the Etruscans. Paradoxically, the Romans were more etruscan than Italic)... Sulla (republic) made Italy into a proper geographically defined area (no more on account of actual Italics) and later Octavian (first emperor of Rome) expanded the territory of Italy up to the enitre Italian peninsula (with almost exact geographic borders. The colonization by latins and other Italics such as Veneti and Ligurians in the inner po-valley allowed for this).

I like EU4 watches more than HoI4: there's a certain amount of mystery and sudden swings of the pendulum in only a short couple minutes to leave it feeling much more like it's being compressed into this dense video whereas the HoI4 ones often felt *stretched* into 10 minutes.

Roman republic, Ostrogothic kingdom and Lotharian Italy (also called kingdom of Italy)... obviously we need to distinguish them so we give them different names.
All three of them called themselves Italy (altough the Ostrogthic one very much wasn't) the Romans being the first in history (who coined the concept of Italy and Italic people)

PuNcH BoI actually half Italy was loyal till the end and surrended when the Germans did, meanwhile what actually happen in ww1 was that Austria-Hungary broke the treaty of the triple Alliance by unilaterally attacking Serbia (see art. 1 and art. 7 of the treaty, it was allowed only by mutual accord) so Italy and Austria were no more allies since 28/7/1914. It remained the question of the compensation (se art. 7 again, even the german mediators considered the position of Austria-Hungary unreasonable on that point) and over that, war was declared to Austria-Hungary on 23/5/1915. so we can say that Italy "switched side" because Austria betrayed them.
You did an all formable nations in HOI4, you should do an ALL FORMABLE NATIONS IN EU4
Some examples are: Russia, Qing, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Great Britain, Germany, Commonwealth, Japan, Jerusalem, Arabia, Hindustan (I'm pretty much listing all the main ones), Malaya, Persia, Netherlands etc. I'm sure you can figure out the rest - Also Austria Hungary isn't technically a formable nation but you could include them
