Which imo makes the switch 2 upgrade being a paid purchase really weird. If it's just higher resolution and mouse controlls then why do i need to drop more money on the game i bought 5 years ago? Glad to have an excuse to boot the game up again though.
And the Switch 2 version is very reasonably priced at $5 usd

The ol Nintendo mindset ever since Iwata’s passing, patch in features many years later that other games get MUCH quicker (thankfully weren’t greedy enough to lock these updates behind the Switch 2 pricy upgrade)

With the higher costing version of the game as well. There's no value in it besides unlocking the resolution which the console could achieve natively but nintendo won't let us.
@22gunslinger21 I mean, mouse controls sound nice too, that'll also be exclusive to it, and the new megaphone allows you to call for villagers, so they'll tell you where they are, plus it's not like the upgrade costs too much or anything, it's $5 USD if you have the game already, so it's more of a cheap DLC for tiny features that aren't really necessary

This was a thing in the GameCube version of AC. There was a ghost who would do stuff like pluck weeds for you. For some reason they never had anything else like that after. It would be great for Wisp to return but I also love resetti so still a W for multiple reasons.

@neutwho well I am glad some people actually like that everyone in this game is just constantly happy and nice. I feel like it is this game's biggest flaw. Nobody feels alive, nobody feels real. But I guess yeah, if you just want to relax and decorate a pretty island this is probably perfect :) Maybe the next game will be a bit more gritty and less decorative

@neutwho I think you should work on your anger manegement. Why you gotta be mean? The old animal crossing games were gritty. This newest one is the only one were everyone is nice to you from the start. In the older ones you had to gain their trust and you had limits to what you could do to the city. Now you can command those poor villagers to get to the city hall at any time of day or night and they are unable to say no to you wanting to decorate their house. I get that some people don't mind that, probably because this is their first animal crossing game. But I and a lot of other people miss that the villagers felt like actual people with wishes and boundaries. Just like you can say what you like and why, others can too. Sometimes our voices are heard by nintendo, sometimes not. But yo, don't tell me to just give up on a game franchise that I liked since I was a child just cause you like the most current one exactly as it is and don't want older features coming back

This update definitely caters more towards the "design" aspect of Animal Crossing rather than the "life simulator" aspect, which I feel is lacking in NH, but still seems like a pretty cool update!

Tbh the S2 stuff is mostly just graphics and voice chat stuff. Which is nice, but doesn't add stuff to actually do. All the actual features are part of the 3.0 update

The amount of times I had trouble finding a character who lost an item … lol.

As someone whos wanted multiple islands to mess around with the slumber island is a god send to me
Hopefully its a good sign for ideas they're exploring for a Switch 2 animal crossing.
Its nice that the slumber island is separate from the main island, they learned from the past when griefers could permanently ruin a save.

The only thing that's missing for me in this game is an npc's update. So that npcs can have more interactions and dialogues. Other than that, this game is filled with content. This will definitely make me come back to my island.

I feel like they wouldn't announce they were adding more dialogue options formally (it breaks immersion) but I do think it is the biggest thing missing in this rendition.

I also just simply want the arcade machines to actually be able to interact with. I feel like I'm the only one mentioning how great this would be. Imagine playing the space invader or pinball ball arcade machine whenever you want and then have friends come to your island and try to beat your high scores and whatnot. That would be insanely good.

Can't imagine trying to invite 12 people to your island, that would take at least an hour. Then one person disconnects or accidentally leaves wrong and it messes it up for everyone.

honestly, i’d be fine with not getting a new game for a while. i’ve seen people asking for it but i find it hard to come up with a concept for a new game when in retrospect new horizons and new leaf have essentially done it all. it would be interesting though to see visually what it would look like and what kind of unique features they would come up with.

@bragnyprobably intentional unfortunately; a good portion of the community (me included!) primarily play for the building and decorating aspects; this was not the case when i was young and playing OG or New Leaf, but that’s because they made the effort from jump for it to be more interaction based. i miss having nookingtons and putting in the 30,000 bells code and honestly just watching the shop upgrade. i miss the REALLY weird things i’d hear from villagers back in the first game. i really missed the old nintendo games so im glad those are coming back to an extent (if donkey kong jr math isn’t there i’ll *WEEP*) but i just, idk. i suppose i could tell within my first few days of gameplay back in 2020 how different this AC was gonna be? but it’d definitely be nice if we got more island life interactivity things!

Honestly I love this game. I would love a new AC but I don't think we really need one for a while, if they're adding QOL updates to NH. The graphics still look clean. They could add mini games, the city (could have Gracie, Label, Shrunk's nightclub, Flick & CJ shop, new city activities), the observatory (with constellations 😍), more dialogue, more lore, and maybe some new features that haven't been in previous games.

It's just more decorating. I wish they'd work on making the villagers fun to interact with, make it feel more like living in a little community, and adding fun things to do. Animal Crossing didn't used to only be about decorating. The villagers and town used to be the big draw.

@Jayliah_ Honestly I mostly played New Leaf (little bit of City Folk and Wild World when I was young and didn't understand ti lol) and I hate how ACNH is just a big dollhouse. I liked that I felt like I had to work for the decorations, also I spent so much time on the mini games on tortimer's island I don't know why they never did anything like that again (although I guess they don't have to since like you said, their new audience doesn't want that). Crafting items that break over and over again isn't the same as actual gameplay
i would have loved to see more nook’s cranny upgrades, more dialogues for villagers, and maybe more buildings to place on the island like the roost other than that i loved this
yeah, this update is great for people who care about the decorating aspect but i care about the stuff from older games thats still absent from this game
