I love this game. I love this franchise. I admire where the game does well, however the issues that reside within it stun those admirations, and has turned away many players from the game. I’ll never say it’s over, because it isn’t. Game is still being worked on, and neither Nacon or KT will give up improving this. You’ll get no where if you don’t critique, but you’ll equally get the same result if you insist on being toxic or insulting, or unnecessarily negative. That’s where I stand. I’ll get this game to improve, and I’ve voiced my opinions the same everywhere, since TDU CONNECT, and I’ve always done my best showing KT and Nacon what the community wants. Wishing the best for the future of this game, but I know for a fact I’ve been pushing for the better future since TDU Connect. Games fun when it works, I’ll never recommend it until it does. I’ll make sure the community is heard, always have. I’ll have to make a part 2 for tomorrow or Sunday with some further thoughts, but I will never force a overly negative or hate opinion, that’s just not me, so please don’t force me to do that. Anyway, sorry for the long video, as usual, I’ll see y’all again soon.

Great video, AlexVII! You really bring in a sense of hope. Like you said, I’m here for the long haul and want to see the game thrive. However, seeing all the negativity (especially on Reddit) is pretty discouraging. Some of the comments are just wild, with many posts filled with straight-up toxicity-no constructive criticism, just nitpicking without suggesting ways to improve. Thanks again for the great video!

TDU means a lot to many people so when KT get all this negative feedback it isn’t because people want to see KT fail, it’s because people are very passionate about the franchise and want to see it succeed
I agree it’s just voices that want to be heard, however some do want to see them fail, and I will call that out as that’s not how it’s done. Why wish to see a dev studio fail, than see them improve and fix the game so we can call be happy with the money we spent? I don’t, and I will never understand that take.
It's because I paid $90 and got a game that's less than half of OG TDU
And the half they did give is 99% broken
They made it always online, I've only been able to play with 1 other player at a time and that's if my friends are on to try and group up with
The solar pass rewards (when they appear/work) are garbage
And based on Dev notes
It looks like they don't intend to add any true additional content for nearly a year...
This is a massive disappointment
The quality is so poor, this should be a $15-$20 Early Access period
@@johndiebold4587 agreed, we can tolerate some server issues for a few weeks like we did with previous games, but when the core game design is so misaligned to expectations it's easy to get despondent because that will take so much longer to correct.

To me the problem is pretty simple. They made a racing game. Not a TDU game.

That’s the truth we all now truly understand how bad this game really is it’s beyond fixing because the base game is built up as a racing game. Like Forza Horizon and not a lifestyle rpg simulation similar to GTA. You can’t easy fix a game that’s built up from the ground wrong in a year. You would have to tear it all down and scrap all content you made or push years into the future.
So you can rebuild the game and make new content based on the original games. At that point you might as well sell the ip to a studio actually capable and qualified in making carguy lifestyle rpg simulator like TDU. The game director Guilluame Guinett failed this game in so many ways it’s not even funny. He shouldn’t have gotten that job as game director he had zero experience with mmorpg. The choices he made and the way he talks about crossplay and region lock not being possible in a mmorpg.
Just shows his inexperience with this type of game. He needs to be fired he knew he had zero experience with this type of game and still accepted it because of the higher pay. He should’ve let someone else get that job I feel like it’s Devs at KT that had to be more experienced with mmorpg. Than Guilluame and if not KT Racing had no business with this ip from the start!!!

So bottom line is they released a tenth of a game that takes the worse elements of every design choice (always online, grindy races, overpriced cars, nonexistent matchmaking, servers are borderline worthless, AI that outruns world record times)

That means either i have to convince them to let me farm them for the Battista, or a whole segment of the game is locked away from me

And unranked because i can not physically get a ranked race
And i need 4000+ solar points to get 1 new car thats arguably the only reason not to sue Nacon at this point
On top of they lied bold faced to everyone about the first patch (week one patch a month in?)
And it actively fixed nothing but fast travel locations saving, while breaking things for others, and they opted to raise car prices when core features are impossible to use
At what point do i get what they advertised and i paid for?
Itd be nice to get a refund for all the things not available that i paid for

@@destytayzo77 It’s not genius it’s just another basic idea that Guilluame is going to push to the side he wants to make his ultimate Forza Horizon clone not a carguy lifestyle simulation he can careless about any of these types of ideas because it’s not the direction he wants this game to go the road map screams we are literally waiting for year 2 to get the game fans paid lots of money for especially gold players they have to wait until year 2 to get the actual TDU3 successor which is insanity you have to wait pass GTA6 to get the game you paid for in 2024 in 2026 allegedly because we have no concrete evidence showing they will put this stuff in the game except head mods, tweets and hopeful promises they do not deserve that type of faith at all we all have them money and have to wait for a game you paid in august 2024 for because they’re pushing it to the side for the Forza Horizon clone content is insane nobody asked for anything on that road map except for the Casino don’t care about anything else on that map for a year 1 TDU revival this is insanity
100% in agreement. I’ve been optimistic about things since the very beginning because there are so many things I really do genuinely enjoy about the game, but it’s a double edged sword. There’s clearly so much work that needs to be done and it’s apparent - I mean I can only dance around these issues for so long. I want to see change, sure I’m enjoying myself with certain aspects but this isn’t the Test Drive game I had in mind, so many lifestyle features are just… gone. Im going to continue to hold out on this game, I am a massive test drive fan so I want to see this succeed, this games got SO much potential. But this launch man, it’s been rough. Like you said, the map is just epic, and driving is better than it looks on videos . I think what they should have done is release it only on PC first. PC is having way fewer issues in general, and if you have 4080 super, it looks mostly good. What I'm worried about is casino. Imagine winning a big price, and the game has a server error😵💫😤😡. One more thing that puts me off, big time is that they are delusional in recent video. What they must do is what CD project red did when cyberpunk came out. Apologies, take it off ps5 and xbox with full refund and start fixing game properly.
Give it another 12 months. Just like cyberpunk and starfield it’ll take a couple of updates before it starts to feel really good
one of my biggest problems is the fact the devs made such a statement that they understand the TDU fundamentals but delivered a game that’s missing half of those things. I’m not sure if they’re really listening so im going to sit this out.
Kinda reminds me of some of my past job interviews. Where I over deliver what I think I'm able to do before getting the job, only to be able to do half of the things I mentioned when getting the job 😂

Ibiza is actually just cheap nostalgia bait. The map isnt a problem with the game so why spend time and resources on a map expansion so soon after launch, instead of bring back core features like houses, delivery missions and the casino sooner. They haven't got their priorities straight, the tdu dna isnt coming back

You literally gave him a cheat book with the entire TDU community feedback. You collected from all social media platforms and feedback of your own. He literally didn’t use it the man doesn’t need tutoring he needs to be fired. You gave him that information way way way before the game launched. I have a idea ask him where is that book is at I bet that man put that feedback book in the mailroom in the KT racing basement! He focused on the feedback that made the game a racing game and pushed aside anything he felt was nonsense for a full blown racing game. It’s clear as day he wanted the core gameplay experience of TDUSC to be focused on PvP and competitive racing. There is nothing casual, relaxing or diverse about this game’s core gameplay. To level up or make money efficiently without being burned out.
'Offline mode doesn't change much' - Yes, it does. Prevents a lot of current server bugs and actually let you play the game while the devs sort the servers out, pretty simple knowledge that. Take GTA5s servers for example, even while in the online mode, if your connection isn't the greatest or the servers have issues, the game will try save as much as possible by trying to sync until its fixed meaning you can still play and progress without losing progress and just not being able to play.
'Need more things to make it feel more tdu like' - Totally agree but can only happen when you have a working game, not a game full of bugs and glitches. This is something to be done in the near future not now.
Solar pass - It is a joke, feels like they threw it at us to just make as many pennies as they can while there is some of the player base left; giving us a broken electric Audi, how is that even possible in a racing game like what? Isn't that what they're good at making? Like you mentioned, barely any levels, barely any, if any cosmetics worth actually grinding for.
Ranked - Personally, I feel like it needs to be halted until the game is fixed overall with new tdu like features, will then encourage players to actually buy and join the community.
Sorry if a few things didn't make sense as I typed and watched along but this game is a shadow of its true potential, it could have shaken the market heavily but it didn't. I still hope one day we have this game fixed, more tdu features, optimized properly; thats all we ask for and Alex, ignore the people hating honestly, you've done all you can to support this game and back it, by providing news, feedback and showcasing the new content, thanks.
Yeah I get what you mean about the offline mode, it does change it a lot, but I meant in context of like the TDU features if within the game, would have made it better received rather than offline being there, with still missing TDU features. Thanks for the words as well, and I agree your POV!
I feel as though the reason they don’t want to make a offline mode right now because the game director Guilluame knows how bad of a game it is and he rather die on that always online hill and let people’s attention stay on how difficult it is to play the game because of connection errors or being able to log in the game at all because if connection errors because he knows the game how wrong he’s made it from the ground up it would look so much more worse when you don’t have to worry about connection errors and get now you get to really hone in on every part of the game he knows the game is to far gone and offline games get far more critique than then online games because there are no patches it’s just a bunch of glaring issues that are going to bother you exponentially worst because it’s no network errors popping in your face anymore the game will feel like a generic racing game not a carguy lifestyle rpg simulation in modern TDU game

Bro Ibiza could’ve been pushed back to year 2 nobody was expecting a entirely new map this early it was a idiotic decision as cool as it is to see Ibiza it’s nostalgic but they could’ve kept that for year 2 or 3
That’s a huge project and a lot of dev time which could’ve been used towards bringing in houses and diverse game modes from TDU2 in year 1 and lifestyle features make this game like a carguy lifestyle simulator not a full blown racing simulator nobody asked for a entirely new map a few months into Hong Kong’s lifecycle it feels so scummy his you ditch the main game for a nostalgia TDU2 bait map with the same exact content that’s on the Hong Kong map
Why not actually make a car guy lifestyle rpg and immerse your playerbase into Hong Kong’s world and make players feel attached to the open world through making the world more interactive with your avatar instead of having the map feel like a placeholder it’s nothing to get attached to they don’t make you feel like you’re just in the world and not a part of the world they made it shows the fans director’s inexperience with this type of game again and again the more you analyze this game the more you realize he was not qualified for that job
Welcome to the current state of the internet/social media. MOST of us want the game to be better but there is nothing wrong with being disappointed and criticizing the game though I agree that personally attacking the devs and generally being toxic is not helpful. There will always be haters, don't take it personally Alex. Many of us have offered plenty of ways for them to simply improve what's already there. Your idea for using social spaces as matchmaking areas is a great idea. Right now we have several meeting points across the map that serve NO purpose other than to change cars. If I was in KT's position I'd already have a spreadsheet of things people have said that could be improved long term and short term.
I don't regret my purchase but I'm sad I can't recommend it to any of my friends right now.

A year from now is an incredible amount of time for kt and Nacon to get their act together and fix this up and make sure the differences are highlighted then, otherwise you could be right

We have to honest with ourselves. Outside of the Casino, no lifestyle elements from previous TDU games (Houses, Transport/escort missions, cops, etc) are in the current roadmap. So if you were hoping for a game similar to the old TDU games, it ain't happening. Add in all the servers flaws, and I don't see why we should expect people to buy this game over the competition which are cheaper to buy, have better graphics, larger selection of cars, and larger user bases. Glad you like the game, but clearly most don't. We can hope and pray this game turns around, but what is that faith based on?
You ask what my faith is based on, but it’s an hour and 22 long video and you clearly haven’t watched the whole thing. I explain it all in this video. I also see you mention only the missing TDU features, but fail to mention how still, the Solar Hotel, HQ’s, Car Features, Radio, Dealerships, Workshops, all bring TDU lifestyle elements. So it’s clear the objective idea that there are NO lifestyle elements is a literal false statement. I agree with your issue about servers and how it stacks against the competition, that are all valid critiques, but I can’t agree with the other takes.
@@TheAlexVII Nowhere in my comment do I state there were NO lifestyle elements in TDU:SC. I said no lifestyle elements, besides the casino, are in the TDU:SC roadmap. KT Racing still hasn't outright promised houses yet, only that they are considering it. Yet, they are focusing on things we didn't ask for like Solar Passes and Clans. I'm glad that you are content with the amount of similarities TDU:SC has with the previous games and are having fun with its main gameplay loop, but most TDU fans aren't on the same page as you. I watched your entire video. You essentially state that you like the core game, but the flaws don't allow you to recommend it, and people should be more constructive with their criticism. Everything in my comments are factual and constructive. My take is KT Racing can fix all the bugs/server issues, and even add the casino, but the difference in core gameplay mechanic between Solar Crown and the previous TDU games, along with the lack of cars, and worse graphics, Solar Crown will struggle to find its place amongst the other MMO style racing games.
You’re right I did misread that, however, houses are confirmed to come Y2. Even missions, it’s all covered in my dev diary video. I also think lifestyle can go beyond just a core feature. As I mentioned in the video, what is missing in this game, as you said, can fix the core mechanic. It isn’t hard to have this feature complete by the time Y2 S1 comes around

Look, I've played every TDU and but 100's of hours on TDU and TDU2 and put quite the bit on Connect.
This game is a mess and that needs to be painfully stated for these devs.
Trust me I bought the most expensive edition and in defended this game before release and even in early access in their discords for about two weeks.
You must realize that gamers are sick and tired of games coming out like this, let Ubisoft, Sony and others be a example of that. We dish out money to gaming companys and this is what we receive, I broken game that barley works for everyone and promises for it be fixed up... like it should've been on day one.
I've played No man sky back when it first released and Cyberpunk (I have 205hrs on NMS and 275hrs Cyberpunk) and gamers are getting tired of the I'll fix it mindset, like yeah it was cool when it happened a hand full of times but it also shows these game CAN be released correctly if the company wants it too.
TDU does not have the fanbase nor privilege to have released this game in it's current state. It's lacking a crap ton of content, AI is a mess, rank can't be played because no one ever joins, lack of cars, lack of Core content in this shell of what TDU is supposed to be. I mean the list goes on, you can keep your optimism but if the fanbase doesn't ever get listened to then this game will be dead within the year.
You nor your 30 friends who want to keep this game alive will save it. That's for the Devs to do and actually listen to the communities wants.
Well said. Just because someone foresees Doom and Gloom doesn't mean they want it to happen. TDU fans want the franchise to succeed, but KT Racing clearly is not listening to fans.

It's not hard to see if this game is not going to change neither will their loyal fans who want more from it, ofc it's never okay to threaten the devs or anything. But us being this negative should be a humongous sign that the direction of the game isn't it, change is needed for this games survival.
I wanted to add EA on the companies that is bad with decisions but can do something right at times.
Like, their NFS titles being offline capable on release and, with unbound, have multiplayer as the second phase once most issues are confirmed and fixed.
What offline mode does is allow me to pause the game in the middle of the race and maybe have difficulty levels. That's why we want it. Plus, I don't care about season passes or competitive play or online in general. That was all optional in the first 2 games.
They seem to think they know what we want or were told to move in this direction by the publisher to retain players or something. Their choices have pushed me away, and I only have 16 hours in this game when I normally would have over 100 hours by now.
I will come back after the PS5 patch and Ibiza. I don't have a lot of faith they can turn this game around. I want it to succeed, but this is one of the games that has let me down the most.
Alex when you talk about how the devs will make money is unacceptable, in the past ALL developers made money from selling a game and selling DLC, thinking that the only way for them to make money is by selling us seasons is hilarious. They either have bad financial strategy or they think that we will keep paying for them to "improve" a game that should have been perfect or nearly perfect at launch, TDU2 had everything at the start and added some things later and charged us for it, this whole "season" thing like EA likes to do is bad, i am sure 99% of the people will not pay for it.
What's really wild about this season server situation is that you can get into a server where the Season Pass is active, but the 2CV races are not, so you have to try connecting yet again. The inconsistency is what's driving everyone away, as you said. The core is good. Sense of speed, driving controls, map, and audio design are all great.

Things they could implement if we had houses would be furniture, electronic items. If we had a casino they could give you special 2X.3X,5X casino chips that increase your odds of winning a casino game. So you win double, triple, and 5 times the winnings in a game.
I'm sorry but no, there's no 50/50....this is about as far away from a TDU game as could possibly be. Instead of looking at what made TDU 1+2 so great, it's almost like KTR have instead looked at Forza Horizon and the Crew 2 and thought to themselves "yeah, these features are popular, lets borrow heavily from them because that'll probably make us more money"....with the result being a bog standard open world racer with a bunch of throwaway events. I mean, they've even copied the faction race stuff from The Crew 1 and rebranded it as clan wars.
TDU had convoys, police chases, houses, a casino and cars that meant something....TDU2 even had an option where you could invite someone into your vehicle as a passenger. Solar Crown has NONE of them! Solar Crown is a poor man's Forza Horizon / The Crew - and nothing else.
You only took the beginning of what I said. I said it’s 50/50, but the weight of what’s missing means more. So if you have 2 tests and 2 exams, it’s 50/50, split content, but it feels like it’s missing more because the weight of what’s missing. Not sure if you misunderstood or you didn’t watch that part fully. So I agree, but I don’t get why this confusion happens, I’ve always agreed with this take….
@TheAlexVII I see what you mean but it's more like 20/80. Yes they have dealerships but they are all the same and overly large. Yes they have a hotel but it is nothing like the houses. No casino. No car delivery missions. No transport missions. No cops. No personality. It has good driving physics and a decent map but it's missing so much even when it works.

@@TheAlexVII Yes, but based on that theory you could just as easily argue that FH5 or TC2 is 50/50 when it comes to making comparisons because just like Solar Crown, they too contain lesser elements of TDU games.
Personally, I think people tend to forget that it's got nothing to do with having preset amounts of TDU specific features, it's all about implementing what you have in such a way that it creates a similar experience to what you're trying to emulate...and that's where Solar Crown falls hopelessly short of the mark. It's got the map, it's got the PvP and it's got racing elements and vehicles....but the most important factor is that if you removed "Test Drive Unlimited" from the title you'd be none the wiser as to which game it was trying to copy.
KTR did exactly the same with Flatout TI: They took a bunch of similar looking cars & locations to Flatout 1+2 and plonked them into a generic racing game without any thought or consideration as to what made the original games so unique!
For me TDU was all about exploring and having to buy houses to store more vehicles. In TDU SC exploration is done after 20 hours, there is no search for dealerships no search for houses, the map is just to small, dont understand me wrong, I like the map but for exploring its just to small. So now after 20 hours only thing left is driving races which I can do in Forza with better graphics and double the FPS.
Workshops, dealers and also the Hotel have the same issues. Just a big open space, with some random people around, and why are those people there, what are they doing... There's zero identity there, so it just feels bizarr. Nobody visit a car dealer to hang out and just study their wallpaper, it makes no sense. If you're not interested in a specific car, why are you at a *_CAR_* dealer wearing clothes looking like you're at some weird nightclub or something.
Workshops as well, random people just standing in the middle of a big room, and why are they there? If you want to add people into a game they need to fit a purpose or else you should rather decorate with a plant instead. Decorating with people is a bit offputting.
I also do not understand the garage in the Hotel because who use it anyhow? It takes so much time if you were to go down ther, enter the car, start the car and then "drive" out of it which also lacks a cutscene. The garage doesn't feel like part of anything really.
This is just one aspect of the game, and in general I feel a game that lacks identity. It's a racing game that doesn't work, and also a TDU that isn't TDU. So, what is it...
Such a shame because the driving is good, and then you sit there wondering what, when and how... Ibiza few months away, like what the... The game needs identity, and obviously needs to work first. When you have issues, everything else has to be put on hold until those issues are fixed.
As a huge fan of TDU1 and TDU2, It's so sad to see this game fail and it breaks my heart to see it like this. All they had to do is copy the previous titles, improve the physics, improve graphics to 2024 standards, and add more features not cut half of it. Instead, they went into different direction no one asked for.

I can not stress enough how important it is to remove region lock. I play in south america, It's unbelievably empty. There is no motivation to compete when you are so isolated from everyone else. I can't play with my friends. I can't comprehend how ping would be such an issue when you can't even get a multiplayer match in the first place. On top of it, having leaderboards and save files being region locked is ridiculous. Thank you for talking about this issue.

Nowadays when they do maintenance or a update I get worried. Every maintenance or patch makes the game worse somehow, for instance now they ruined the backfire and pops, the solar pass shows up when it feels like it. Ranked and races still get disconnected the main problem with this game is that it is a MMO and it is to competitive for a tdu game. No one gives a fuck aviut ranked and the competitiveness dawg. Instead of focusing adding houses and missions at launch instead they focused on the MMO aspect and ranked stuff that no one plays tdu for in the first place. One thing that is terrible with thr game is that the race payouts decrease after 5 times like what type of shit is that who came up with that idea? I third that. I refuse to return to The Crew Motorfest or Forza Horizon 5. Even though I'm waiting until the game is fixed and improved before I jump back on it, the physics and even the map (in my opinion) is way better. Even since launch day when most of the game's events wouldn't work, I had a lot more fun just cruising and discovering the island a lot more.

They need match making for ranked and unranked races. Just open a menu and pick join a race. At a bare minimum.
From all the assetto corsa leaks, it seems like thatll be the new tdu type experience
If servers and always online were the main issues, I believe most would be frustrated but willing to wait for fixes. But when the game design is sooo wrong, the concern is that players will give up and in turn the devs won't receive funding for Y2 enhancements. TDU1 & 2 lost funding before all the desired enhancements were built. So then we're just left with a decent map (which won't be new and exciting forever) until the servers shut down.

That Solar Pass looks so boring and generic. There's nothing to entice you to buy that. It's a boring small stock image of what you will receive. EVERY OTHER game passes show the car in detail, shows the items or liveries on the car to give you an idea. No effects, nothing. That is some of the laziest shit I've ever seen in any game. I'm so sad because I really wanted this game. I appreciate you are being honest and not just letting your love for the series blind you.

I’ve been around since sept 5th and still hope the best for this game, but after the sept 30th update I’ve had even more issue and the double car purchase glitch while taking your solar coins and no option to sell cars is almost the mail in the coffin for myself. They need to give compensation(minimum our solar coins back) to keep players around.
People need to learn how to give constructive criticism and not destructive criticism. Just bashing a game to the ends of the earth gives no useful information, telling them where they went wrong and how you'd like it to end up gives them something to work from.

Sucks to say, but I've completely forgotten that this game even existed. The hype was unreal but then it just turned out to be... shallow, demanding from you to farm levels and giving no content but some occasional backstory. If I wanted to farm something, I would've played WoW Classic and act like it's a "funny game", but I'm not usually driven by nostalgia or whatever else crap only to play something I would've not otherwise enjoyed.
And this - this is damn disappointing, even if you don't want to compare the game with any other, it just gets covered by the size of "friendliness" of other, similar titles. There you are given everything because you're existing in the game, you're being spoiled only because you can be, here - you need to farm things, drive perfectly in order to get bonuses and just be famous even if you have a few millions on your account. And no - it's not a bad thing, I like where the game is hard but gives you some sort of satisfaction when you prove to yourself "oh, I'm so good, I just beaten this or that record", but - of course - it's not something everyone likes.
And yes, naturally, TDU: SC is still a decent game, but - nostalgia speaking - it lacks polish, it STILL lacks something that engaged you in the past, back in 2006 or whenever, where you just came back from school as a teenager / adult and glued your face to the monitor while playing TDU like a maniac. Maybe it's not even about any nostalgia but rather about the feeling of the game being alive, but TDU: SC does not offer such a feeling. You're still paired with other players online, you're still participating in online races, but it's not what it should be, the game feels empty already and I'm unsure about its future anymore.
Or maybe I'm just getting too old and dislike the fact that modern games have different "approach" to modern players and even if these games are reduced to trash, some people will still be glorifying them for no reason, as if they were paid bots. And no, I don't actually mean the TDU: SC right now, more like other games, but I just needed a comparison. And yes, I know "oh, it's so fun to criticize but you didn't make the game" - yes, of course. But I still have payed for it, I wanted to play it and was hyped, only to receive poop wrapped in gold paper, signed with a brand name that has been very well known for decades, but never managed to shine for long, because companies working on such a brand were just greedy and gave no further damn about neither the game itself nor its fans. I just hope this time will be different, but... "we will see".
TL;DR: I both like and dislike the game. I like it for being hard but satisfying, I dislike it for having the "dead feeling" already. I like it for the fact that it's one of the brands I played in the past and enjoyed, but at the same I dislike it for making me compare the game to what it was in the past and what could it be now.

I think the #1 issue right now that NEEDS to be solved is the region-locked servers. There aren't enough players per region to play with. They NEED to merge the regions into one, or at least fewer but encompasses more regions (US + EU for instance). This game is supposed to be MMO, and I was actually looking forward to that since I loved NFS World, Project Torque, and Drift City. But in its current state, it's a single player always-online game. If they keep going on like this, the game is as good as dead.
Not enough people talking about region lock, which is a massive shame. In the last video the devs essentially said it's not a technical challenge but it's something that needs to be discussed. In my view what that means is that we are not getting it for a long while, or more likely, we are not getting it at all. It's such a frustrating issue too, my server is empty, I can't play with my friends, and even if I use a vpn I'll lose all my progress. It's mind boggling they cite lag as the issue that keeps them from removing region lock when nobody is getting to play multiplayer matches in the first place.

First things first huge amount of respect for your work for the last several years even before tdusc was announced you made TDU Videos so huge respect to you but they did this completely to them selfes nobody forced them to make such a stupid concept in terms of a MMO and alllways online they where warned by several other RUclipsrs that always online would be a huge mistake but they where like screw these guys they can't handle critic for what ever reason instead of going small steps in terms of a fun offline test drive experience wich everyone of us would be 100% ok with instead they had so stupid and beyond insanity plans i mean did they really expected to have such a huge amount of players? no they even said that they didn't expect so much players when gold edition came out which is kind of a joke because again it makes 0 sense you build a game which supposed to be a always online competitive racing game yet they didn't expected so much players also no cross play in the year of 2024 is mind blowing imo the only scenario of how this game could have a 2 life is if they completely change their mindest in terms of a offline patch because the driving on itself is good as well as the map but the rest is just dumpster fire tbh
Interesting that I've had none of the issues with Season 1 as many other people have had. It's just worked every time for me. I'm in New Zealand so I wonder if that makes a difference?
I'm Level 60 and about 100 hours played. Generally the servers have been fairly reliable for me. I lost 1 day out of 7 during the pre launch. (Steam PC version). Running a RTX 370 GPU and can get 50 - 70 FPS on high.
Things I like:
The map is great
The car handling is generally good. Fairly close to Horizon handling. That said the turning circle when doing offroad events isn't enough and you often have to handbrake slide to get around corners
The progression system / grind is about right
Things that need improvement:
Server reliability. I get the occasional server timeout
AI is either far to fast or incredibly stupid. When the road is wet the AI cars often drive too fast and crash so are very easy to beat. AI needs a difficulty slider. Let users choose the difficulty level just as you can in Horizon. Ironically I can usually beat the AI on unbeatable in Horizon 5 but often get my butt kicked in Solar Crown. How can I beat the AI if I get passed like I'm going backwards?
The season rewards are pitiful. Stickers as prizes and different colour glasses. Just awful. The cash rewards need to ramp up as the reward level increases
Ranked racing and online multi-player needs a complete rethink. Make it like Horizon 5 custom racing where you pick a car class and event type. You then go into a rotation of random events. Needs regional and platform crossplay
BTW I've had better luck doing ranked races by inviting people to join a group. You then enter a ranked race. The other people in your group then receive an invite to join the race. This applies to any other race on the map.
Bring back mini missions like they had in TDU 2. These were a lot fun to do.
I wonder if the game should have a weekly playlist similar to Horizon 5? That works incredibly well and I often do the races in coop mode with other players
Character animation and quality is poor. I reckon characters were better done in TDU 2.
Summary:
The game has the potential to be great. The map and car handling is there but other stuff as mentioned need work.

I do believe that your optimism is well intentioned. Like you said, you care about this game and you want to see it succeed. I think everyone who played the original TDUs would have said the same before launch. I can honestly say that my anger at the whole situation (Entire gaming industry really) has left me pretty hopeless for the future of games as a whole. Games were objectively better a decade ago, I don't think anyone could dispute that, especially with the plethora of examples of unfinished games that have released. I think gamers are tired of being butt-fucked by publishers. We're sick of being exploited, lied to and borderline robbed by the suits that make the decisions at these companies. I love TDU. TDU2 was one of the first, if not the first, driving game I ever played. I want this to succeed so much, but I too am feeling the low moral in the community. For me, my moral is low because it doesn't feel like a TDU game. There are elements, but I cannot call this a TDU game yet.
It feels like everything moves at such a slow pace, which is felt more strongly due to the fact that there isn't consistent and clear communication, which you've touched on. I think that's the biggest problem. Toxicity will continue to brew and expand when the community does not hear much about the game progress. The stab in the heart is when they do finally communicate (such as in the developer video), they say things that don't make sense to me as a consumer of TDU. Such as stating the main focus of TDU is racing, and that crossplay/cross region will not be done because of latency. You've seen the comments 😆. Didn't TDU2 have cross region? Don't the crew/forza horizon have crossplay? You can straight up switch the region you're playing in the settings in the crew motorfest. These features exist and should also exist in TDUSC. It should, in theory, be possible for TDUSC to do this too. If not, that's very concerning for the future of the game. Anyway, I'm repeating so much of what you're also voicing.

im assuming ranked is only with the people in a current lobby and thats why no one does it unless u invite them. the way it should work is they should cue up anyone accross all servers in ur region
Alex there are much better ways for KT to fund TDU than a solar pass. Good old DLC packs (Bikes etc.) would add more content that would keep players engaged for longer and therefore the player is much more likely to put more money in the game
nahhh offline mode is important and should have been at lunch but my GOD it will exposed how empty this game is compared to older games.
I know you talked about it in the video but my biggest problem is that I literally cannot progress within ranked to end up receiving the reward car because barely anyone joins ranked races and if so it's one person and if you become 2nd you even lose points. I know you'll be able to get it eventually but the game, if they want to make it work as intended, they need to get rid of region lock and make it crossplay! If that's not possible, the games progression needs to be fundamently worked on and changed since the way they've intended it to work won't work this way. Considering how they've reacted to critic recently makes me doubt it'll happen though.

The Crew, the first one, was the first time for an always online for the devs, it had a lot of issues, but by the second game it was solved. Same's happening with the other half of the dev team at KT, can't really blame them for having it all perfect just because there are other examples that have gone through revisions and reworks, this IS the first time for KT, gotta let em cook a bit..... they seem to have the ingredients at the shelf, and so far the best cooked parts are really good, like the driving.
One of the things that bothers me about tdusc is that they want it to be competitive but there isn't a form of organized online racing like nfs speedlist forzas online adventure or tc2 live battle right now after you beat the game to get more cars is to race with the ai I just want to race with ppl on normal and ranked

I love this game and franchise but it’s abit rough but I’m gonna be patient cause I want this game to succeed and you are the only one who kept the community informed so keep it going bro I appreciate you for everything you do🙏
We need petrol and charging stations with fuel management. We need more to do in the world other than racing. We need to be given a variety of incentives for just roaming and cruising around. We need far more jobs for earning money other than racing. We need a life style TDU game, not a racing game.
The critics thats what i give to this games only about emptiness, not about bugs or connection or about offline cause making offline or no, not making significant change on this games. Only i hate with not offline is theres no restart button so force me to abandon race to restart it. im still give hope on this game until i realize im really concern with this aspect :
1. No story of the game, i thought without property or clothes they can still provide good games at least im curious with the game and thats why i'll try to not watch creator gameplay to leak the story of the game. im shock there is no story on this things and only races.
2. Unlimited car storage, im really concern about this because this things will be related with property. We started with op situations with own hotel with unlimited storage. Thats why makes me questioning whats the function of the property if they try to deliver it to this games. Especially when they give silver and gold edition with all variety cars on the beginning of the games if they changes the system of the garage. If its not change, im not sure if a must for me to buy property.
3. Less car classes, 5 i thing is not enough when i saw all the cars on this games. At least add some classic or hyper classic that specific cars can be registered. Make it the same like supercar or hyperclass for the car with less pp at least to make fun and force us to buy cars from that classes. Adding battle againts cross class was a good idea and they can improve it more by add some new classes. 370z, mustang and alpine in early is kinda op from the start if they include abarth or citroen on the same class. Even cars with low speeds like classic corvette should be imposible to compete in G class but look at ai can defeat my max bentley. i don't now were they already fix ai or not, at least makes eveythings balance at least put them in the same categories of the cars.
Ibiza gotta my final evaluation, if theres a good news after or before ibiza patch, im still looking forwards to continue this game, otherwise is gonna be my last gameplay. at least i'll try to complete this games before ibiza and wait for the news. Im not try to refund this games cause i'll respect them try bringing tdu backs to life even thought we don't know its gonna be success or fail in the future
I think a lot of the anger comes from the silence from the devs on the major issues. They barely addressed a lot of them in the last dev diary but people built up hope, then the patch came out as an absolute mess barely addressing anything and people felt like they'd been lied to. For me the main issue with the game is that I need to race to progress which means single player racing but the balance of the cars and the AI is so all over the place that the racing becomes utterly miserable. As a mostly single player guy until that's addressed I can't enjoy this game. I did have fun with the 2CV races but when I logged in the next day they were gone, I then attempted a single player race to earn some cash and the misery returned so I quit and moved onto something else.
My main problem is still the performance of the game, not getting 60 fps with a 3080 with good graphics settings.
Pros are the map, its nice, car sounds are amazing and physics are good. Sadly cons would be SERVERS
I think people find an excuse to justify their toxicity and rudeness due to this games faults and underdelivering. While yes, this game should have not been released in this state and at the very least, should have been released in early access with a price cut and full transparency and honesty from the team/company with frequent patch notes and updates.
When I pre-ordered the game and played, I was stuck on the tutorial island for a week. I contacted support with understanding of the situation and stress the devs were and are facing. With a little push my game was fixed and since then have enjoyed it despite its heavy flaws.
My point is, dont direct your hate towards the devs, rather, turn ur hate into something that is constructive and towards the people who have the power to change what is wrong with the game. At the end of the day, our wallets speak and so do our player counts, if needs be, these can be ur silent forms of protest that actually speak lourder than the words u shout.
They should just make a matchmaking system with ranked races. Or only 1 ranked race live at the time i guess
My biggest issue with Solar Crown is the fact that even if the thing technically worked, it's so feature incomplete that it's just not a TDU game by any metric. TDU 2 is literally 4x the game compared to solar crown. I'll check back in a year if the game is still up and being actively developed, and see where it is at but now there's no point in even trying to play.
I posted my report of the situation on TDUW's discord, but again : So many design issues that are revealling themselves now, BAD comm and decisions from NACON (not talking about KTR here), ignoring early warnings both from the testers and from KTR...

I really appreciate you showing the flaws the game has and saying "if these features are a necessity for you than dont buy the gane" when people buy a game expecting more content out of it than there is available it creates backwards momentum.
They dont enjoy it and then the post negatively about it and the reviews bomb and it just effects everything negatively. Ive been having a great time but i looked at all the content that was in the game at launch and its all stuff that i enjoy.
The servers can be frustrating at times however.
Honestly they should of released this game in full beta at half cost. Fixed all the issues over the course of the next year or more then given us a "full" release once everything is dialed in!

Yo Alex, I hope you read this but I too want to try the game. This will be my first TDU game if I buy it and I waited for specs to come out to see what computer I could buy for it. However, I am just concerned if Nacon will even reach the first year with the game at this rate. Your point with the toxicity surrounding the game is a big one given that if the players don't give the game a chance, then it will truly die. I am getting the impression that the hate has gotten too excessive to the point that if Nacon puts out positive news on the game's state, the players will find some way to bash them for the launch. I fear that the community itself will kill the game even if they claim to "help make the game better" through their "criticism". I get that Nacon needs to be held accountable for the bad launch but I feel the fanbase also needs to be held accountable for this limbo the game is in (i.e surviving the 1st year or not).
This leads me to my second point; I want assurance from Nacon and KT that the game will survive. I don't want to spend money on a game that won't fulfill its 1st year roadmap and get "The Crew 1'ed" because it is unfinished. They will only add the offline mode I feel once they have added all the TDU features to make a good single-player experience. But say the player count has gotten really bad now and Nacon has to shut it down at this moment. Will they add the offline patch then? I don't think so. All that cash to buy the game is wasted because I can't play offline because the game is incomplete and doesn't warrant the offline patch because it is incomplete. This is why I am hesitant on buying the game now and even a year from now. I don't have the assurance right now that Nacon is really committed to TDU. At the end of the day, MMOs live by player counts and with community sentiments, the region locks, and the lack of cross-play, the player counts are divided at best and if you look at the counts at each region and platform, they are LOW. If things continue at this rate, TDU has the possibility of shutting down and not making the 1st year, especially after hearing how the 1st patch only made things marginally better. You say actions speak louder than words, and I agree. But I pose this challenge to you, Alex, I want you to SHOW ME concrete evidence that Nacon is committed to making the game better at this state, with this low morale. At the very least, I want you to make Nacon show more concrete progress with their roadmap and plans (the houses, casinos, bug fixes, Ibiza, etc). At this rate, the insider information you showed prior to launch imho means nothing now because like I said earlier, MMOs live by player counts and TDU SC is nowhere near at healthy player counts. I can't bring myself to "gamble" my money on a game that could shut down at any moment due to lack of players. I want to see concrete progress for me to convince myself to spend the cash, and I really want to try the game out. If I see real assurance and commitment that Nacon and KT will support the game and turn it round, they will have a buyer in me. Even convincing them to bring back the monthly Solar Bulletins for patch and roadmap progress will go a long way.
Yours are the only videos on Solar Crown that I watch specifically because you're pragmatic about your take on the state of the game. Most others are overly negative and simply bashing the game, idk if it's just rage bait, but they are not helping. While SE would only say this is bad, this sucks, this is trash, at least I can count on you to tell me why it's bad and not just how bad it is.
I've been having fun with the game despite the many shortcomings of it. But I also acknowledge that it's not where it should be to be considered a true TDU experience. I have faith they'll get their fecal matter together.
Offer offline mode Side missions deliveries of anything cars drugs pizza ect Moral would get a big boost if the offered a nice garage with a little house you can buy in the country side give players something worth grinding for that the crew or forza doesn’t offer lastly optimization graphics ect put ranked races as a back burner until you get everything else cleaned up GTA did the same thing main story then online play

Finished the solar pass in the first day, they should have added sn alternative way to make money because they are so out of touch if they expect us to continue to race for another 73 days... I'm raced out, I can't even look at another race.
