    Update (8/16/2024): I have a theory on how to fix the charging issue without buying a new battery. If you're comfortable with opening your calculator then try this post I made on Reddit: www.reddit.com/r/calculators/comments/1etziui/fixing_ti84_plus_ces_that_wont_charge_volunteers/
    You can read about my theory ahead of time here: www.cemetech.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=307069

      hey, I tried to use zadig to download calc2key on my TI-84 plus CE but now i cant import files with TI connect, you made most of my favourite TI games and seem to be an expert at TI calculators so i was wondering if you knew how to fix this

    I wish we could disable “Validating OS”. When I pick up my calc, I just want to do the math. Not wait for a boot. Its why I still use my Ti-34 MultiView or Ti-86.

    • @beartn
      @beartn 8 месяцев назад +5

      It didn't always used to be this way, on calculators below rev C there was no OS validation, it just booted whatever was on it. Once they introduced rev C (boot code 5.1.5) they added this "feature".

      My TI-84CE got caught in this loop and I had to buy a new battery. The good thing is I have a Casio CG50 as a back up and my TI-30 MathPrint which is a better European version of the TI-36XPRO.
      I almost threw my 84CE in the trash thinking at first it was a calculator issue.

    I still have a TI-84 Plus CE from 2015. (well, 2016, but it was used at the time.) Still works perfectly. My only guesses as to why they added that screen was to try and detect any "illegal" (assembly) software, or something that exploits loopholes in its security system. Nevertheless, they clearly implemented it very hastily, as it does not check the battery before verifying.
    Fun(?) fact: the OS validation screen was actually added to the operating system before the hardware speed upgrade. That means that for a short time, you could buy an 84+CE with the slower hardware and the OS validation. Talk about a lose-lose.

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  7 дней назад

      That's really unusual you still get boot looping after getting a brand new battery. You can try holding 2nd and del while pressing the reset button on the back of the calculator for at least two seconds. I'm skeptical that will work though.

      What is the next step I can do?

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  7 дней назад

      Unfortunately if the calculator won't charge a new battery then there's something wrong with the charging circuit. It's unusual but not unheard of. If your calculator is still under warranty then you can ask TI Cares for a replacement.

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  7 дней назад

      I should also add if the calculator isn't turning on with a new battery then there's something drastically wrong I don't have the ability to diagnose without hands on.

  • @ariannaramirez7386
    @ariannaramirez7386 Месяц назад

    So what do I do if it only charges while I hold the reset button, do I need a new battery? 😢

    • @TheLastMillennial
      @TheLastMillennial  Месяц назад

      That's strange. You can try using a friend's battery and see if the calculator probably charges with the different battery.
      If the calculator can charge a friend's battery then you just need to order a new battery. If you contact TI Cares they might send you one for free.
      If the calculator can't even charge your friend's battery then there's something else wrong. I'd recommend trying a different power source and a different cable (again, try borrowing a friend's charger). If nothing can charge the calculator then you've got a major hardware issue. If the calculator is less than a year old then contact TI Cares and use your warranty to get a new calculator.
      If you're in the middle of finals and need a solution right now, you might be able to use something small (like part of a toothpick) to hold the reset button down while charging. You could tape the small object in place or hold it down with something heavy.
      You can also talk to your teacher or library and they might have a calculator you can borrow.
