  • Chippenham has now become GWR broad gauge intermediate station as, after a brief chat with a couple of Broad Gauge Society members it was determined that the plans were for a proposed enlargement of the original station that was never built. This is why they didn't agree with the couple of contemporary drawings. Nevertheless, the model is very GWR and can be used for any suitable layout. I will be issuing it by the end of August once beta testing has cleared it. In this video I have explained how to set it up as it is now 'fixed track' and requires the addition of four copies of my invisible station which will be included in the cdp. I intend to model another early GWR station at some stage and, as the plans I have already agree with the Bourne drawing from the 1840s, I'm confident it will be a fair representation. However, my next model will be of a GWR standard gauge steam rail motor.

It has rather haunted me over these past couple of months - quite appropriate for a station that never was.

Hi, I would like to give you a suggestion, if you could make the Bellerophon locomotive?, I know you are busy making the Chippenham station of the GWR Broad Gauge, but could you post, if you have, a list of models you intend to make?

I apologize if I'm bothering you with this suggestion

I assume you're referring to the preserved standard gauge 0-6-0WT loco built in 1874 by the Haydock Foundry for use in the collieries of the same name. There is also the GWR broad gauge Premier class 0-6-0 loco of the same name built at Swindon in 1846. My inclination would be to build the latter, as I prefer GWR motive power and rolling stock. A major consideration would be reliable plans, as you'll have seen with my efforts over 'Not Chippenham'.
My current project is the GWR steam rail motors, standard gauge, of about 1907, and their trailer cars. I'm not sure what my subsequent model will be as the rail motors are quite complex and will take some time to complete. At the moment I have the power bogie more or less complete with its Walschaerts valve gear. I'm now beginning on the vertical boiler and all its many fittings. After that will come the vehicle body. As there were several versions of both the rail motors and their trailers I intend to make a few variants to produce an interesting fleet. Their liveries will be either the maroon of the period or the more familiar chocolate and cream.
I'm always open to suggestions for future models but I can't guarantee I will make them. I tend to go for a rather eclectic mix of prototypes. Once the rail motors are made and released I may return to an early GWR broad gauge station, especially as I have plans of Slough which actually agree with the published contemporary drawings!

@@ing4trainz Hi, I understand, but if you go one day, make the Bellarophon 0-6-0WT locomotive from Haydock Foundry, I can send you some images I found of it to base yourself on, by email, I liked the idea of making the GWR Bellarophon in several versions and I liked this station, thank you for your attention

The model I am making in several versions is the GWR standard gauge steam rail motor, not the broad gauge Bellerephon. For the Haydock Bellerephone I would need scale plans, not just photos, before I could consider it. Hope that makes it clear.
